The one watch I think is iconic because of the style and the celebrity provenance it carries is the Heuer Monaco. The beautiful blue square dial you can identify a mile away and the “King of Cool”, Mr. Steve McQueen, making it famous in the movie “LE MANS”. Keep up the great work!
Excellent choices, although if it were me I’d have chosen a Submariner over a Black Bay, and maybe found room for a Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 somewhere in there

I think the BB58 is iconic among watch enthusiasts, but the Submariner has such a wide reach among the masses that it's hard to agree with putting the BB over the Submariner as an icon. BP Fifth Fathoms may be the daddy of the dive watches, but whenever anyone mentions the concept of a dive watch, I can guarantee the Submariner is the first, if not among the first, of the designs that come to mind.
Great list. If I would allow myself to add a few, it would be the Rolex Datejust and the Patek Phillippe Calatrava as I feel they both modeled every dress watch that we see today.

You could’ve swap out the Grand Seiko with the Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref 96, the wrist watch collection that started it all and set out exactly what a wrist watch should look like.
So the Cosmograph is iconic because it was so unliked the dealers had to give them away with other purchases, and one given to Joanna Woodward happened to end up on the wrist of Paul Newman, who liked it so much he gave it away to one of his daughter’s boyfriend? Agree with the Speedmaster, which could be swapped for the Cosmograph.....For a few £ more. Instead of the IWC, I'd much rather go for a Laco. Far more like an original Second World War era Fleiger watch, especially the Erbstuck models. 100% with you on the Navitimer. I DO like the Tudor Black Bay apart from the absence of crown guards, and that strange hour hand! As for the Casio.....I must be the ONLY person born in the 1970's who didn't actually own one! :( I still feel deprived! LOL. Ah......And THERE is The Reverso! Good choice! AND the Cosmograph! LOL. Just to finish off!
As a Pelagos owner, I say the BB does not belong in any top ten. It is a homage watch with most styles it incorporates taken from other watches and the original, just to make it look good and to sell well. It ticks all the boxes for the broadest audience but excels nowhere. Is the New Beetle just as iconic as the Käfer? I think not. Hamilton Ventura should have been on this list. If you ask anyone who wore it, or ask What watch did Elvis had, this is what pops up. The 50's vibe incorporated forever by Arbib, car designer of that era. The only triangular watch people will know.
Could you do a video of what a watch would be like for a Mars Mission? Time would be totally different there due to the length of a day, the elliptical orbit, and different length to a Mars year.
It's very strange that this video shows iconic watches and doesn't mention the Rolex Submariner, I thought it would be at the top of the list, I guess not mentioning the Submariner is a smart move 😉 To increase the number of comments below the video
Well whaddayaknow, a bit earlier just before I started making dinner, I picked up and wore ... my Casio F-91W! I hardly ever wear it because the wife has an utter disdain for digital watches in any form, but today is our lucky day
Denk You very Matsch for Excellent Entertainment. It’s a little late but, all the best for the new Year 2023. I love your channel. I miss the current rolex date date model 40 mm. It’s like the current Royal Oak maybe even more the absolute icon. Even much better than the original icon in 36 mm. I Would place it behind the Daytona.
Well, Casio F-91W is the only alone digital watch in this list among the best and most elegant analog watch. What a legendary. Very cheap price that everybody can afford, yet the most sold watch in the world.
Submariner should definitely feature, maybe before the reverso and snowflake. Cause that is the watch everyone thinks of when they think watch and the Apple Watch. So, maybe that too.
It is iconic but the title is „Iconic watches that every Enthusiast loves“ - I think the BlackBay is more beloved by the watch enthusiast community in general :)
The Calatrava is the template for the modern wristwatch. The Rolex GMT gave us the now ubiquitous Pepsi bezel. And before there was an F91W, there was the Timex Marlin.
It's sad that watches like Zenith El Primero or Blancpain Fifty Fathoms didn't make it to the list. I would replace Tudor BB together with GS Snowlake (it is a good GS or entire Japanese watchmaking representative, but it cannot be really called iconic). Otherwise great discussion as usual :)
Yes man, Blancpain been around right, Rolex Sub got a lot of Blancpain DNA in em, Blanpain is the Daddy, Rolex Sub is the son, I love Rolex too, not hating, got nothing but respect for The Rolex Brand. As for Zenith El Primero 3600 calibre,Zenith is the Father and, its son is the Daytona. I am liking the Zenith Chronomaster Sport with the 1/10th of a second complication, Zenith and their bench work on watch making is supreme. I stay true to my Seiko and Casio, Zenith El Primero is my favourite Swiss watch anda Stainless Steel VC 222, they could have the rest hahaha.
Panerai Luminor, you may like it or not, but most definitely and unmistakably iconic. Probably unpopular opinion, but after the quarz, the biggest shake to the watch industry (perhaps not the mechanical one) is the Apple watch, again very much iconic (kind of sadly)
I’d probably swap out the Black Bay for the Rolex Submariner and the GS for the Patek Calatrava but otherwise pretty spot on. Still smarting over selling my Royal Oak for £2500 10 years ago but hey ho
My picks would be, in random order: 1. Omega Speedmaster Professional 2. Breitling Navitimer 3. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 4. Tag Heuer Monaco 5. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso 6. Panerai Luminor 7. A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 8. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 9. Zenith El Primero A384 & A385 10. Charriol (forrgotten by everyone, with their unmistakably steel cables bracelet)

Just wanted to say I really love the talks you and Tom have. My fav videos by far
100% agree, prob my fav watch content right now, and there’s a ton out there.
I would also add the Omega Seamaster on here. It's the James Bond watch, after all.
When someone recommends the Seamaster. The next question is which one… so it does not qualify enough as iconic.
I would say the Submariner is the definitive James Bond watch. The Seamaster is only for people who don't remember Sean Connery or Rodger Moore.
@@Andy-kl1ve not really. The sub was the first bond watch, but it was only in one bond film. The 300m is in 5 bond movies.
IMHO Submariner is more iconic than a Seamaster
@FxL it may well be, but it's not as iconic as a Bond watch.
I would have the Monaco too
„New“ but already iconic to me are the Lange 1 and especially the Zeitwerk.

Good call on the Datejust...
Any rolex is an over hyped pos. If it takes you half your existence to finally be able to make your own movements you're nothing special
The Submariner is the most iconic watch ever made. The second one is the Speedmaster Profesional.
I would argue the GS and Tudor might be “emerging icons” rather than having reached iconic status. Other watches to maybe consider:
- Cartier Santos, Roadster or Tortue
- Blancpain FF
- Omega Seamaster or Railmaster
- Rolex Submariner
- B Uhr type watches from Laco, Stowa, Wempe, Lange
- Heuer Autavia
- Panerai Luminor
- Dirty Dozen / field watches such as Hamilton Field
- Breguet classic or Type XX/XXI

Symmetry is a bit overrated. Lots of really, really high end watches (A. Lange und Söhne, F. P. Journe, Greubel Forsey) are asymmetrical.

Any time iconic watch is mentioned, even non watch people will say “ submariner”.
I wouldn't have used the Tank Francaise just the basic one for iconic status. And yes no sub is blasphemy :)
Always wait til the last second for Tom’s ‘BAHBYE…’ 😂

Grand Seiko Snowflake is awesome, should also include Omega Semaster and Panerai.
Bulova Lunar Pilot also went to the moon, unofficially, and was used when the speedmaster failed
Denk You very Matsch for Excellent Entertainment. It’s a little late but, all the best for the new Year 2023. I love your channel. I miss the current rolex date date model 40 mm. It’s like the current
Royal Oak maybe even more the absolute icon. Even much better than the original icon in 36 mm. I
Would place it behind the Daytona.
Patek Philippe Nautilus?
I would add the Tissot PRX, if you expand to the top 20.
Well, Casio F-91W is the only alone digital watch in this list among the best and most elegant analog watch. What a legendary. Very cheap price that everybody can afford, yet the most sold watch in the world.
Brancard can also mean in French the 2 straight parallel parts of a vehicle chassis
Calatrava? Nautilus? Less iconic as the Black Bay 56?
Submariner should definitely feature, maybe before the reverso and snowflake. Cause that is the watch everyone thinks of when they think watch and the Apple Watch. So, maybe that too.
I’m sad you didn’t include the seiko skx 007 in the list. I’m still sad that’s not made anymore.
Tag Monaco anyone?
Heuer Monaco, there was no "Tag" back then :)
Blanc pain fifty fathoms, Seiko Astron, Seiko SKX007, tag heur Monaco spring to mind.

F91W, The only watch I can afford from this list.✨
"It's like the snowy Japanese equivalent of the eyes of hypnotoad."
Someone got the wiring wrong in Andrew's brain in the best possible way.
Wrong century! El Primero is made redundant by the Daytona. The 50Fathoms by the Tudor.
Day date and Submariner
Haha, I think the thing where you switch between visual microphones as the two boys talk? Well done. 👍
Wasn't Seiko that came first with the automatic cronograph with the Pogue?
Great vid ! Calatrava on mine and the sub!

Great choices!
Casio F-91W!!! Love it.

My picks would be, in random order:
1. Omega Speedmaster Professional
2. Breitling Navitimer
3. Rolex Oyster Perpetual
4. Tag Heuer Monaco
5. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
6. Panerai Luminor
7. A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1
8. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak
9. Zenith El Primero A384 & A385
10. Charriol (forrgotten by everyone, with their unmistakably steel cables bracelet)
IWC and JLC!! 🔝👏
