    This is gold .I'm a logic user for 7 years and its nice to see someone really dig through this stuff to highlight its benefits

    I always thought arpeggiators were only for classic synth sounds. Seeing this new use is exciting! Thanks!

    Another great vid, Jono. I like to stack the arpeggiators and use the Scripter probability gate to provide even more uncertainty.

    Love your setup here! It’s clean and some of the best, and I’ve been pursuing the same. NI Komplete M32 is definitely the best small midi controller. Using the iPad Logic Remote (free) app as your mixer is smart, plus you pick it up and walk around. Ideal for recording from behind the drums, vocal booth, or guitar amp. Keeping your synths and keyboards on a rack out of the way also makes sense. You don’t need those crowding your desk. iMac is a good choice for most, while I have a MacBook Pro M1 Max with an additional 28” 4k monitor. But the trend for an M1 Mini Mac (because it’s lower cost) is not always so good. By the time you buy a quality 4K monitor, an Apple keyboard, mouse or trackpad, plus cables and a hub… iMac might have been cheaper and much cleaner.

      Absolutely, rigs and setups need serious thought and logistical planning. This combination is definitely working for me! Thanks so much.

    I got logic just for the arp, it's really nice. Amazed that a third party vst hasn't been developed with it's design/approach
    as an "inspiration".

      Everyone's drawn to Logic for a different reason. And you're right, it's a particularly good Arp. Have you tried pairing it with some of the other MIDI FX? Recommended!

    Hi Jono …. Thanks for creating this very interesting video. Do you know if the grid mode is available in the arpeggiator in the new iPad version of Logic Pro?

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your question. I've not yet had a chance to look at Logic Pro for iPad in depth, so I can't answer your question yet. If anyone knows the answer to this in the meantime, jump right in!

    Cool tips! Really helpful. Could you do a follow up that talks about using this in classic rock (e.g. the who) or blues rock context?

    Subscribed. Is there a vid you have created showing how to properly route this to external synths (Roland MKS)? Would it trigger the same? Thanks!

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  Год назад

      Thanks so much and welcome! Yes, the Arpeggiator will work exactly the same way with hardware synths. The easiest way to set this up is to use the External MIDI Track type (press + above the Track headers to create a new track) and then to check the tickbox to enable the External Instrument plug-in. This will let you select the synth you want to use via whichever MIDI Port you've connected it to. And then you'll have the option to use the Arpeggiator MIDI FX plug-in. Happy to make a video for this but I hope that helps in the meantime.

    Thanks, Jono! Btw, are you pleased with that m32 keyboard? Am thinking of replacing my Akai lkp25 for travel. I hate the Akai keys! Pete

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  Год назад

      For travel, it's throughly recommended. Light as a feather, truly plug-and-play. The 'Mod Wheel' isn't as good as the real thing and the keyboard action is fine (for mini-keyboards). Absolutely, would recommend.

    Hi Jono is there a way to have the arpeggiator sync to the host and play the full phrase without it going back to the start whenever there is a chord change. In Cubase Pro retrologue arpeggiator I use sync to host for the patterns to play in full (usually 1 - 2 bars) regardless of how many chord movements there are,, In Logic the arpeggiator goes back to the start everytime I change chord.. Rgds, David

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  Год назад +1

      Hi David. If you fully release a chord and then trigger the next one, you're right, the Arpeggiator will jump back to the beginning of the sequence each time. But in Grid mode, if you overlap your chords, so that, for the briefest moment, the outgoing chord continues as the new one starts, the Grid will continue to cycle through its steps without returning to Step 1. If there are any common notes between your chord changes - for example, the note C, if you were moving from C minor to F minor - keep that note held down across both chords and the sequence will continue. If the whole chord is being replaced, keep the 'old' chord' for just a few frames of the new one. Not a perfect system, but it does work. If anyone has a better solution for this, please let David - and me! - know. Hope that helps. Best wishes, Jono

      @@jonobuchananmusic Thank you very much Jono for your reply, I'll give this a go, at least this workaround will (hopefully) allow the full one or two bar phrase/pattern play without the arpeggiator returning to the start everytime there's a chord change... Thank again, David.👍
