    Vientos' best defensive asset is his arm. His worst is his footwork. Moving him to 1B plays against his strengths and weaknesses and doesn't make as much sense as people think.

    • @dashx1103
      @dashx1103 19 дней назад +1

      Except his principal asset, his arm, doesn’t make up for his deficiencies at 3b. Even with a plus arm, he’s a net negative at 3b. If his arm isn’t taken advantage of at 1b, so be it. A sub-par 3b isn’t made otherwise by a strong arm.

    Mets are going to squeeze Pete for every discount now. He might think about getting a new agent. Bringing Pete back is the popular choice, but Bregman will be the best move if they can get him at the right..price/years ratio. I also like the fact he is a winner and has won 2 WS titles. I am happy either way... I trust Stearns.

    • @LockedOnMets

      The Mets were interested in Joc Pederson before he went to the Rangers so you’d have to believe the Mets were still in contact with Winker. Obviously they still need a DH. • @pdg61met
    @pdg61met 19 дней назад

    Mets still need a bullpen and that has not been addressed. Even if Holmes ends up there they need more and i don't see them addressing it. They could sign Alonso, stick with Vientos at 3rd so to not hamper his develpment/career as mentioned and go with Winker against RP as DH and Marte against LP at DH. This would give them more dollars to go after Burnes, Tanner Scott, Sasaki, Etc... Marte crushed LP last year and Winker is decent against RP. You load up on pitching and that's a good game plan. That is a very balanced proposal.

Manaea pitched 1 good season and now he’s Cy Young and everyone is ecstatic about him? Peterson pitches 2 good months in his career last year and now he’s an ace? Montas is complete trash.. Clay Holmes is a starter? Doubt that. Blackburn is worse than Montas. Butto sucks.. Megill shouldn’t be in MLB. Looks like you may need to learn more about this sport actually.. There are only a handful of them on the MLB at this point in time. Bregman is not a good fit for Citi Field. He is not worth any more than 3 years especially at the money he is asking for. Hi Ryan, The Mets could get both no problem. Alex is a professional hitter and knows how to win. Stack that lineup, and you can't pitch around these guys. Vientos has terrific hands like David Wright but slow feet and a great arm. He's still young, and his bat should get better much like Alvarez. They both have the same problem especially at the plate chasing that outside slider or that pitch in the dirt. They all must be more disciplined at the plate and success will follow.

  • @dashx1103
    @dashx1103 19 дней назад

    To me, the Mets miss on Joc Pederson is frustrating. He just seemed like a no-brainer complement to Marte at DH. And he wasn’t expensive. If the Mets re-sign Winker, I likely won’t care much. But the Mets don’t really seem like they need the additional OF with Winker, unless they end up moving Marte. Oh, well ….

    While I appreciate Stearns kicking the tires on Bregman to maybe squeeze Alonso, I don't want Bregman on the team. Pete is a Met-I think 5 years 125 mil or less is fine maybe with some opt outs. It aligns with Soto's first 5 years with his opt out. I was more OK getting Christian Walker or even Goldy especially on the short cheap deals. I just think Bregman will not be the star for the Mets that he was for the Astros. We know what to expect from Pete 35+ HRs, 100+ RBIs, .230-240 avg and he plays everyday and is a great team player. Vientos is fine at 3B for now-they also have Baty and Mauricio in case they need to make a change and if they resign Iglesias which I hope they do he can be put in for defense late in games. Bregman would cost too much and did his stuff for another team-it is time to keep rewarding Mets players like Manaea and now Pete expecially where the market stands right now.

    The fact is that if you give Vientos the 608 AB’s Pete had, he would pace out to 39 HR/ 105 RBI. Moving Vientos to 1B and gaining WAR by putting Bregman on 3B makes us statistically a better team

      If you are trying to upgrade the Mets this is the correct move. The infield defense would also improve to help the Mets pitching staff. The Mets might bring Pete back as a fan favorite or they can't get the deal they want with Bregman. I don't see them both on the Mets. One would think the Mets are going to sign a major BP arm ..or a few very good one. Contrary to popular belief..the Mets do have budget. High but it is still there.

    Vientos deserves more time at 3rd. Have him work with David Wright for a few weeks in Spring training and see how he develops. Bregman in a fine player but Vientos is young and has a tremendous upside. Sign Pete. If Pete doesn't come back, move Mark to 1st and give Baty another shot. These kids need playing time and lots of it, so give them a shot. Otherwise it makes no sense whatsoever to have minor league developmental teams if your not going to give them a chance at the big league level. All this band-aid shit has to stop if the Mets want long term success. Considering the current payroll, the Mets should expect 6-7 WS rings.
