    Crates for dogs are illegal here in Sweden unless it’s for transport. It’s also illegal to leave your dog alone at home for more than five hours. That last bit has nothing to do with the video, I just thought it’d be interesting for those who didn’t know.

      That is very interesting, thank u! Canadian here. We don't have such rules. We have animal rights, don't get me wrong, but our laws are very lax. That 5 hrs and crate travel would never happen here.

      I would never send my rescue staffy to a place, although I wouldn't let him be destructive, I love him too much to be that strict

    Honestly Thankyou so so much ! Your videos have saved our boy & mine and his Bond and I have done so much in 1 day & I just cannot believe it. Mind blown. I can only imagine how he’s gonna be every single day from now on, now that I’ve committed to him 💯
    And yes once I owned that it wasn’t his fault IT WAS ALL MY FAULT ! It’s enabled me to start giving him the bestest life he deserves. I really thought my dog was just OTG and crazy but NO it was me not putting the time into him. I can’t thankyou enough🧡

    thank u , just subscribed, my staffy died 6 months ago , my friend just asked me to have his , name zeus, because zeus also lived with both his parents and he and his dad kept fighting, zeus is a awesome friends affectionate but very excitable boy, brilliant with kids and other dogs, walked past 2 cats today he did not react at all , however he put a hole through my hand yest biting me, tho playing and 100% my fault as i was holding a branch for him he wanted to grab , but he pulls, he runs wildly when off the lead and is very hard to control , so as i am terminally ill and have mobility issues with 2 herniated discs him tugging dominating the walks must stop , so i will be starting 1st thing in morning with your help from your video's , and very grateful as i been very very down since losing my sog i am very much alone most of time and this zeus is such a lovely caring dog i so happy at mo

    I got two staffy brothers at about 2 years of age , they had killed sheep so owner gave them away to me at a last chance at life. They now guard my work yard. They where crazy when i first got them but with old-school positive and negative reinforcement they now can go on walks without leads, sit at the road before i say they can cross. I always thought staffies where meatheads but these two i have are as socially clever and as easy to train as a couple of blue heelers i had years back. Such good boys i will retire them in a few years early and they can be home dogs with me

    Swedish dog instructor in training here! You do not need to crate train you dog. HOWEVER you should absolutely bed train or blanket train your dog. Same principles but youre not stuffing your dog into a literal cage.
    I will never understand people who defend crates. It is way too easy to make that "safe space" into a punishment box.
    Some people dont even put down padding or anything and thats straight up cruel

    What is the difference between a place training and crate training. I might have been self sabotaging by using the crate as a “time out” for my dog and her refuge. Should they be two separate places, or can the crate also be a place. Appreciate the videos. Cheers.

    Our staffy argues when told to stop. Barks and tries to nip as if playing. Cannot walk away or get a nipped. Help?

    Great thanks for those 3 tips. Got 1 sorted out. Our Am Staff loves going in her cage for some of her own space. But for 2 she still pulls quite a bit, thanks will work on this with her. Need to work on point 3 as well.
    She coming up for 9 months old now.
    Great video

    What are your thoughts on neutering staffies?

      Makes no difference at all

    • @EmoXWolf
      @EmoXWolf 7 месяцев назад +1

      @liamharvey2053 actually it makes a HUGE difference, I own a medium sized staffy and since his dessexing hes become more calm, less agressive and has started to focus more on training instead of being distracted. Hormones can be most complicated to work with in dogs especially staffies, so the 2nd week of his going down I started noticing a much better and happy dog

    So, imho some People are just not cut out for Dogs or children! An IQ test is needed!
    I have had staffis ( Bro and Sis) from six weeks old, have now two of the most stubborn large Breeds Shar-Pei and an xl Bully - both Girls- . I tell them once, they pay attention, I tell them twice - they understand - I tell them the third time = we are almost perfect
    People look at us and asked how ?
    It's love, respect and understanding your Dog in equal measures.

    my boy will not walk on a leash at all without pulling that's our biggest issue he bites your feet when you walk him and it takes so long to get somewhere x

    • @BlackSlimShady
      @BlackSlimShady Год назад +1

      Then you punish him when he bites your feet, they will learn quick. It's not abusive or cruel to hit them once IMMEDIATELY after doing the fault if they keep doing it and are refusing to listen.

      @@BlackSlimShady if I was to hit him I reckon he'd savage me to be honest, I've worked with dogs for years but this is a different kind of stubborn, I still have the same problem now I had 5 months ago except he's stopped biting pants still goes for shoes with laces though 🙃 have to wear ugg boots lol

    How do you suggest getting your dog to walk behind you. ? Great video as usual big fella. 👍

    • @Stu81
      @Stu81 2 года назад +4

      You need to work on engagement, a dog that's fully engaged will walk beside/slightly behind because they are focused on you and want you in their sights, when teaching loose leash walking then moment they get ahead of you is when you change direction (turning around and walk in the opposite direction) and keep repeating when ever they get ahead of you (they should not be walking ahead of you more than a couple of seconds, timing the redirection is very important), always use positive reinforcement, vocal praise more than food rewards, minimise food rewards but still add in food rewards.

    At some point when people, for their convenience or dogs safety, need to put their dog in a cage and never let him wander unleashed outside, they should consider that...
    1- They may have chose the wrong breed for their capacity and/or environment.
    2- They are pretty bad trainers and owners and maybe should not have a dog at all.

    • @vaioyoshi

      I agree. There are so many breeds and even just senior dogs who would be great for apartment life. If you want a specific breed, there are even breeders and show people who will retire dogs to family homes after they reach certain ages.
