The F-5E's airframe durability is insane, from my experience. Never rips its wings even when pulling a sustained 13g's. Not sure though if Gaijin intended it to be able to withstand a direct hit from an R-60 and can still fly.
i mean, if you want to be historically accurate most aircraft should be able to take a hit from an R-60. there is a reason why the russians carried so many of them and fired 2 at a time
Its broken as fuck, go in DCS and try it here. Its extremely slow on deck - mig21bis is faster by a lot. here? It keeps with phantom. Its Climb rate sucked ass conmpared to F4s and other jets. In wt? It keeps with them. It bleeds shit ton of energy in DCS in sharp turns, not in WT. Its acceleration sucks in DCS and in WT? Its fucking rocket. If USAF had this and if it performed like this, there was no need for F-16A at first place as current WT F5S outperforms real world F-16A in absolute majority. And i dont believe, they have better FM in WT than in DCS after what they did with 21BIS.... where its totally different to DCS one. WT F5E is paper UFO not realistic in a slightest.
r60s were nerfed apparently
@@honzavasicek Phantom does Mach 1.2 basically on the deck in WT, F-5E isn't anywhere near as fast as that. as for MER you'd need all sorts of charts to prove it's overperforming but it does seem broken.
@@fexilsehn6445 Mach 1.2 is 1470 kph at altitude of 500ft. F4E cant even sustain that speed at that altitude, it barely touches 1400kph mark. And as i said, go in DCS and try it out. You will see difference right away. Without even deep testing, the difference is terribly marginal.

Going headons only work in f-80 because people know that your brownings ain't shit (probably)
if flares have been buffed you should see chaff. now you can just press the "evade missile" button and all aim7s become useless even if you fly straight toward the F-4
was flying the F-4 yesterday and still can confirm that firing a sparrow before they chaff will always allow the missile to track even if youre radar locked onto the chaff))

I don't hate fun but I DO hate the F-5E getting 4 Mavericks even though it could only carry them after a 1995 retrofit whereas the German F4 can and DID carry 6 without modifications, but only gets 2 in game.

Draken is the hardest top tier jet to use in the game, but it's fun when done right

You should redo the F-8U Crusader. That thing is amazing at 10.0 now, since it barely ever faces 11.0, also AIM-9D's got buffed.

Do you have a suggestion for which gun belt to take? I feel like the full API armored belt is the most reliable, but I wanted to hear your opinion on it and US top tier 20mm in general.
General rule of thumb against aircraft is cram as much HE ammo in as possible
I am not even near top tier, since I started the game recently. But I am wondering of the amount of head-ons even in top tier. What is going on? I would have assumed that people would learn from the lower tiers that head ons are not the best solution or the best chance of success. Its high risk and often unneccessary if you have more energy then the opponent.

Your flares don't work because you have to use flares reinforced now. Ath the 21bis for example you only nee a series of 2 flares with a delay of 0,2sec between them and you can dodge a aim9j for ur 6 without even moving due to the nice launch direction of the flares.
I always turn off my afterburners whenever I use flairs

22:09 you may be right but in a same speed situation the F5's high placed guns will give a great amount of advantage over the rear-low mounted GSH23L cannon
Velocity means nothing if you can't get your nose on target
@@DEFYN I'm not speaking about velocity, I'm speaking about gun placement and easiness of use. The f5's guns are way easier to aim than the belly gun of the mig21.
I also need your help; when I have 1v1s on the mig19 against F5C I have no problem, however when I'm stall fighting against the F5E I get out turned sometimes. I'm missing the engine and cover modifiers, are they really crucial for maneuvering better at low speed? I know the F5E never meets the mig19 in a regular basis, but I often do 1v1s vs rank 7 planes on it
Velocity and placement go hand in hand
And it still doesn't matter because the mig21bis gets unlimited angles and the F5 gets 0 if played right
@@DEFYN i 1v1'd a mig21 bis in spaded mig19 (pretty much copy paste f5E) and boy the mig21 bis out turns me in every situation especially at slow speed, you're right man
2023, this thing now faces 12.0 battles almost every game, flares and chaff on it don't do shit against Mig-29 Radar missiles and IR missiles

Nails is a radar in search mode while spike is a radar in track mode.
Spike = locking you, Nails = not locking you.

The f5 is nice because it doesnt burn thru so much fuel on afterburner
