Well, unless you're an Israeli F-15. Then, wings are optional. A luxury.
However, the IAF recommends 2 wings for a smoother, less stressful flight experience.

Taiwan's F-5 has been brought up to 4th generation standard. Unfortunatly they are old. But sky sword 2 BVR missile can hit hypersonic speeds.
Brasil still have a lot of F5 they bought grippens to replace them. Obviously their not called F5 anymore...they f -something fancy all retrofitted. Venezuelan su30 don t like them much...small hard to lock and usually get the sun far from home... Since them the sun never came back...

Those older analogue jets are really big fun to fly. No shitty mfd and tons of sensors, just the gauges, the trigger and you.. love it.

I love the fact that plane types don't matter. GS is what makes a difference.

A few things:
- Never thought I'd see the DCS version of camping. Would have been spawn camping if it weren't for the SAM/AAA.
- How did it feel making Ace in one video? Felt like Double Ace at the rate you were going.
- You are going to need a lot of paint to put those Su & MiG silhouettes on your F-5.
- Now that was fun!!!
Amazing ground scenery and aircraft renditions, magnificent swooping camera angles as the action unfolds, and a calm understated commentary amid the melee. I am in hawg heaven here. Pulling up a chair for more of these aerial displays, and subscribed for sure.

So ever since I got this new PC I've had some issues with recording without it looking choppy, DCS runs perfectly on my screen but the recordings were coming out choppy. I've played around a little with the OBS settings and I think I have something half way decent now, I'd love to hear your guys thoughts its still a work in progress there is still some choppiness in the external views I need to figure out how to fix. Anyway thank you guys for watching and I hope you enjoyed much love.

F20 was a great option for home defense. Other nations not hostile to the US could have bought that too.
One of the BIGGEST mistakes the US made was not fielding the F-20; it was a kickass machine! It had 60% more thrust than an F-5 with the twin J85s...

Love my F5 just wish it could carry more sidwinders, mabe even a couple of sparrows.
Four heaters would be great though having sparrows as well would hamper the F-5’s agility quite a bit.
@@Cortana_ice_fox yeah, we can leave the sparrows in the hangar, the 4 heaters would do nicely. Dont want to interfere with the handling to much shes a dream too fly.

What's cool about this is my dad was a security policeman in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam war. His security Police detail was attached to the first tiger squadron ever sent to Vietnam for testing. Listening to his stories about this amazing aircraft, and now I get to watch this video which just brings back some more memories about my father. Thank you for doing this and doing what you do by creating this amazing content

The F5 is one interesting fighter, it was never the top dog but yet it still in use after half a century of making a good job.
Agreed because some are getting some serious engine, airframe, electronics, radar and weapons upgrades too make the F5 a 21st century Gen 4+ badges in the right hands

What kinda amazes me is the F-5's agility, which for it's time was better than most of its adversaries other than SU-27 & Mig 29.
The F-5 has to have pretty high wing loading because of the short wings, which typically in a fighter of that era indicates an interceptor with horrible dogfighting capability. F-5 though, if you look at it from beneath, has a wide, flat area where the wings blend into the fuselage. Most fighter jets of the time were basically engine tubes with swept wings tacked on; the F-5 appears to have some lifting body elements to it's design.

The F-16 came out in like late 1970's
Ok i just checked, technically the F-5E first flight was in like 1972, and the F-16 in 1974
The F5 was designed in the 50s. It is a 3rd generation airframe design and a pair of highly inefficient afterburning turbojet engines. The f16 was designed in the 70s, and is a 4th generation air frame with an unstable design and a fly by wire system (maximizes airframe performance). It uses a modern (4th gen engine with 5th gen technology and development added over many iterations) single low bypass afterburning turbofan (specific fuel consumption is massively improved in transonic flight as compared to a turbojet). The F5 was/is never going to achieve the performance needs of the modern US air force with such a small airframe, inferior aerodynamic performance, and inefficient low thrust engines. Airframe performance more or less peaked with 4th generation airframe design and at this point digital technology, weapon systems, stealth, and engines are the leading point of performance improvements. The F5 is not large enough to support these developments and the airframe would have to be completely redone, basically it would not be the F5 anymore. The closest example would be the F-CK-1 as far as a modern F5 design is concerned, which is like an f16 and an F5 had a child, cool plane, check it out if you haven’t seen it.

It's not that insane. it's 40 Blue planes spamming Aim-120C vs 40 Red planes spamming R-77/73/etc. Sometimes an F-14 spamming Phoenixes and the occasional mig-2000 pilot trying to figure out Magics only to get blown by an ET.
Until I saw the Mig-21 behind you I thought it was some kind of lag on the damage model... because alot of those rounds seem to impact and do nothing and then it just blew apart as if all the damage was applied at once

If you are the aggressor, you get the kill. The opposing MIG'S radar got you confused with his buddy.

If you only got the droptank and sidewinders you can put the jettison selector down and press the red button on the left to drop the pylon with the tank :)

hey GS always love these videos and everything you always explain. quick question, looking at new wings as I haven't pulled the trigger yet, and still been in the Frogfoot ( 90+ hours ), was thinking of getting the F-16 Viper, but wanted to see if you had an opinion for a better one? or what would you recommend ? appreciate everything as always :) if anyone also would chime in what to grab, most appreciated !!!
hey man, the F-16 is a great aircraft but its got a lot of development still to go, I recommend getting the F-18 Hornet there is a lot more to do with it, and its a great starter aircraft the systems are pretty simple to learn and its capable of a lot of things so there is lots to learn, not to mention its carrier capable so that opens the door for all kinds of naval operations for you.
