I love how there is always that one phantom pilot who just assumes he's gonna win a dogfight against a literal double delta canard fighter that weighs half as much as their plane
I don't think you know how heavy the Viggen is. With max fuel and missiles it's about 20 tons. The Phantom isn't taking maximum fuel so it's much closer than you think.

The term "support fighter" usually, in War Thunder, just means the plane isn't that good and isn't really capable of handling fights on its own. Except for Razor. He's always there to clean somebody up that's being a problem for you, or simply just drag somebody away to give you a 1v1 opportunity and that's the best kind of wingman.

I really hope gaijin puts a dedicated mode for high tier jets with a lower player count. I'd LOVE a 4v4 playlist, or a 6v6. Great video as always, i'm working to get this beast unlocked
I was discussing this in game the other day. 6 players spent 15mins fighting like pros at 10.7. Once all the low exp. Players had died. It was an intense 3v3 that went down to the wire. Included multiple RTB'S and actual team work between randoms.

If you got fuel problems keep in mind this thing got two stage afterburner, if you wep using the mousewheel you can tell theres two stages of fuel consumption and acceleration.
You can do that again? I used to do that with the mig21bis but they patched it a month or two ago.

What i really enjoy in top tier currently (in the jaguar A, with flares yay) is the end games, where you are in 1 or 2 vs 1 or 2. There, i find that the jaguar is extremely potent against F4Es and stuff. They always take a lot of altitude to use their radar, but the jaguar does really well at low altitude, so you can really play sneaky (impossible thing to do when there is more than 4-5 enemies in the game), and then launching missiles from below them gives me a huge satisfaction
Pulse doppler also has the benefit of not losing lock to countermeasures. Thats one massive point that wasn't covered as forcing someone to notch also sets you up to engage them with an IR missile.

Viggen justifies Tornado and other 4th generation. It has opened pandora's box. Here's a note from Wikipedia "The Viggen was also the most advanced fighter jet in Europe until the introduction of the Panavia Tornado into operational service in 1981.
Meanwhile they still haven't added the F104S/ASA for Italy (while removing the M61 for the F104S if carrying Sparrows, historically correct but terrible for balance) or the Mirage F1 for France (please gib Mirage 3NG), nevermind the fact that a better Draken (the J35F/J) should've been added first before tue Viggen.
And yet gaijin haven't even put the rest of the Vietnam era iconic "century fighters" in the American tech tree. I feel like gaijin are moving ahead too quickly when it comes to vehicles and neglecting game balance and fun game modes. Or making the game more than just a "10 minute dogfight simulator". At this rate gaijin will give us every modern vehicle within 2 years and will have nothing left to add after and the game will die.
Panavia Tornado will be issue being implemented in games due to complicated licensing. That's why you dont see official tornados in dcs or other jet games.
Viggen is amongst the last of the *3rd gen* fighters.
There are still some 2nd gen jets missing: F-105, F4D, and I'm not sure if Mirage V is second or third gen, Mirage IV is from the second gen era though, and also maybe F-106 could be added.
3rd gen missing are: Mirage F1, Super Etendard, F-111, Su-15, Su-24, and maybe MiG-25 (meant for high alt and has no gun tho), maybe Tu-28, and J-8I
Before we start 4th gen fighters in War Thunder, we'll need *at least:* F-105, F-111, Naval Phantom B/J/S, Su-15, Su-24, Mirage F1, Mirage V/50, Mirage IV and J-8I
Tornado ADV (fighter/interceptor version) could come either after or together with F-14/F-15/F-16/F-18, Mirage-2000, Su-27, MiG-29, maybe MiG-31 and J-8II.
In terms of year of introduction, the Tornado ADV came *after* all of these planes.
As for the earlier Tornado IDS (strike version), it could come after or together with the F-111, Su-24 and Mirage 50, but was IRL introduced after them as well.
Gaijin does however tend to mix it up and add in planes like JA37 and especially with J-7E, which is why it's not completely unlikely that they add Tornado at the same time as some planes. Especially considering that:
-Italy needs something else than F-104S
-Germany needs something else than lesser performing MiG-21MF and Sparrowless Phantom
-Brits needs something else and at least somewhat domestic that's not just 2 of the same Phantom
I know I'm listing a lot of planes here, but you get the idea. There are a lot of other planes that also need to be added first, so...Tornado? Too early for now
I think if you take full or near full fuel it should give you the fuel drop tanks that planes have to use in real life, being able to bind a key to drop unwanted hard points for when you have depleted your supply of fuel from the drop tanks or say you need less weight for a landing and want to drop your mini gun pod

Jaguar had magics at 10.0 for a long time without issue. Only went up because it got CMs. Though Q-5 flies better for sure

Would you consider revisiting the MiG-23M when you inevitably make a video on the MiG-27M? The 23mm got a buff and both planes received R-60Ms. The MiG-23M’s flight model was also updated. I’m fairly far off from getting either of them but I’d like to know if they’re worth grinding.

If you mainly play air, get the mig 23, if you're a ground rb player get the 27. I'm a ground rb player with some top tier air, and the mig 27 is also less total rp for me to get than the 23, so it's the obvious choice for me

I am guessing since an updated patch the fuel comsumption will be better now. It fixed the Draken for me.

That’s because F4e does not have an pulse Doppler radar. Only naval phantoms like F4J/F4S have that.

Odd that you can notch at higher altitudes. Before direct hit, doppler radars on the british phantoms would only get notched if there was ground clutter behind the target, or chaffing whilst notching at higher alts.

Its it kinda obvious when the engine of the viggen is larger than the f5 and it can still dogfight it
The skyflashes do have a place in this game, the problem is that the matches are too crowded and the maps are too small. I have no Idea why English channel still isnt in the rotation. More modern planes are going to have more modern missiles, fortunately if people arent into that kind of thing they can play a lower BR, although there is a lot to be said about BR decompression. Honestly, if plane tech was kept in the 60's-70's and we stayed with early sidewinders and sparrows, I wouldnt put money into this game nor play it for long, so to each their own.

good missiles, 6 of them, great energy retention, but it seems to be kind of a bus, "extreme overload 7G" at 1000 IAS... The F4F pulls 13G at that speed

@@voidgaming3700 no it doesn't out turn the mig19, the viggen pulls 11-12g at 850 IAS for some time and the MiG19 pulls 13-14G, you've seen Defyn had a hard time dueling the MiG19 with the Viggen, the strong point is that it has good roll and excellent rudder authority, enough to dodge the first ten passes before the MiG19 starts getting in a remarkably lower energy state

Funny to see jets doing simple mistakes like showing their wings when the enemy is about to shoot. If that's not possible because they can't turn because of speed that would be understandable but it didn't look like it
The radar is still incomplete. It should not lose locks as easy as it does. Same issue with the Kai.
War Thunders radar function is just broken. Chaff doesn't work like it's supposed to, sarhms still track the aircraft when the lock is on chaff(which isn't how it works) so it's kinda like a fox-3

Speaking of defensive flying. Any tips on defeating Magics in a plane without flares? It's about to be a super relevant skill to have if you're flying anything from 9.0 up.
You have to pull sideways and when it looks like it's trying to lead you, you pull down(NOT UP!!!) To make it shoot over your head
Works for R60s and Aim9Js but always getting away with only minor damage against a magic seem best case most of the time
