You actually can bring a cannon and the TIALD pod. Put guns in the slots, then put a paveway on the wingtips. It'll auto convert ONE of the guns to the pod, then you can remove the paveways if you just want the pod for easier targeting of mavericks
The one issue I've found with this method is that the PODs thermals wont activate in RB battles ground or air. It will however work in test flight. Tried switching the bind, no dice.

the aim9l drag change feels very good, before they would drop out of the air when the motor burnt out but now they can actually glide, not to mention the guidance changes
The LERXs on the Harrier GR.7 also greatly improve turn rate, kinda like how the ones on the Super Hornet allow it to pull some more insane maneuvers (granted, even the Legacy Hornet was able to pull some insane AoA)
The whole gameplay aspect of it reminds me a bit of the Hunter F.6 when that was added, you got some omegalul missiles that will just slam people, and subpar flight performance, so youre just some rat that kinda flies around trying to not get focussed by anyone and launch your missiles at people that didn't see you in time.
At least at top tier now the planes have countermeasures to counter the missiles. Hunter only had poor range as a problem and could also head-on lock on people with hot afterburners.
In the Harrier Gr7, you deserve to be nicknamed "Janitor of the sky". I was a janitor for some years. Nobody really noticed me, nor how many pests did I killed, or nasty spills did I clean. And I was very quick. You cleaned up that sky very efficiently. Funny thing is, the next game, the same opponents will, once more, underestimate you in a sub-sonic Harrier. Very delightful show! And VIFFing rocks if you know to take a breather to regain energy. In physics we learn about ratios. We lean that wing loading (weight to airfoil lift area) is king in affording pilots a tighter turning circle to put your piper on his 6. But, done smartly, the Harrier is the only plane on Earth that can "best" that physics with VIFFING. Part of that thrust can become a centripetal force generator (pushing you towards to axis of your turning circle). Neat eh? Like anything in beautiful physics, there are gains here, at the expense of losses somewhere else. You play very well in pausing to regain energy. The Harrier was one of the very first jet to have a thrust to weight ratio of 1, give or take. So, fortunately it works in its favor with decent accelerations. You give a fantastic show! Cheers!
I'm really glad odd put me onto your channel defyn. Your content is actually fantastic, enjoyable, and informative. I have definitely seen improvements in my piloting even if I'm still not amazing I have definitely had some dog fights I would have never won before. I can now consistently survive longer and kill more in air rb rather than consistently getting shit on in my first engagement like before.
They do that because realistically you wouldn't be able to tell the specific model until you're closer to the target anyways. All jets from a certain generation have similar characteristics at 5km and further so it checks out.
After seeing a lot from this plane, I would rather have this thing ANY day of the week, instead of the fucking F-104S ASA. It can actually maneuver, it has effectively constant countermeasures if you just set periodic release, and it gets the same missiles at 11.0. The ASA has never worked for me, and even after the update, AIM-9Ls off that thing seem to still fucking randomly miss their targets and not act like AIM-9Ls. It feels like I'm using AIM-9Js with an all-aspect seeker. One flare, they go to space. One turn, they fly past them. 4km away, forget about it. They just don't work at least 50% of the time.

I rush straight down the middle in this thing. I've been absolutely smashing people. The plane is good enough that I can hold my own until the rest of the team shows up. And it feels really good taking out MIG23s, and F14s with a Harrier.

@@DEFYN Hey how are u using chaff and flare at the same time ? since 2 weeks i have a problem that if i am using flare and chaff i have to press the key twice or if it is in auto mode it have to do series in order to use flare and chaff other way i am only using flare and then after for example 1 sec chaff. Is that a setting or some kind of bug ?
@@_xxexexx_3002 it's a bug that was introduced in the same patch as the F-14. In my games yesterday I was able to use chaff & flares the same way as the video so I think they fixed it this patch.
Once the optical seekers come in..... Oh no, I don't wanna think about it. Flares are essentially useless against them. So even paying attention ends with you dying
This thing is 200% more maneuverable than I expected to be, to where I lost a 2v1 with 2 of them in my J7E. I'm sure if I drag 1 of them into a rate fight I would win, but being able to compete with the J7E in any regard is pretty crazy, least to say the GR7 will actually out-scissor the J7E.
It's good at CAS, because that's its main role... it was used to great effect in Afghanistan and Iraq. That's also why a radar was never added to the British Harriers.

But if you go in at the front of your team then a bunch of people see you first, lock you up & blast missiles at you. Not much opportunity to survive let alone sneak up on anyone. It’s weird learning what works, but experiment & try holding back or flying at different altitudes or whatever and you can find what works best for how you play:)
As a new top tier air rb player, I'm completely baffled by how little people drop their afterburner, flare, and turn a little. Honestly, I thought it was common knowledge. I mean I'm a noob at top tier air, and I know how to dodge missiles (mostly).
The harrier is absolutely an apex predator not a rat, you can go into the furball, get some easy gun kills because the guns are so good, put turn everything with thrust vectoring, dodge every missile sent your way with the 700 flares, then you can return 4 more missiles
Just remember, the GR.7 upgrade was introduced in the late 1980s, mainly to keep the Harrier compatible with the latest NATO air-to-ground ordnance. It was never meant to be a fighter aircraft and neither was its direct predecessors. The designation gives a clue (GR stands for Ground attack/reconnaissance).

I find it interesting that you say that AIM-9L got more flare resistent because for me it goes for every single flare on the map, like and SRAAM or R-60M
I fly a Jaguar GR1A... and R-60MK from SU-25K hit me even tho i flared when it was far away... it didn't notice it one bit and just went straight for me... Mf Premium bias man... when i play R-60's they literally go for a cigar lighter that's on the ground... But when some premium mf plays them it avoids anything but my engine lol
@@kajmak64bit76 yea the Ls are really good too. A lot of times they go for the flairs but then go back on target and gets me the kill. They pull really hard too plus you can get head on kill since they are all aspect.
RUclips might hate you swearing but I think it’s actually really nice, it makes everything feel friendlier and more relatable, it makes it sound like your sitting on the couch with the viewer and talking about whatever.
They all still eat a single flare so I dont really think the change means much. The aim9L buff changes a lot though, for a heatseeker its actually a good missile now.

So the GR. 7 is like the average Shanker in London, run out shank someone, take their wallet, then run into a dark corner.

Yeah this patch has been wonderful for AIM-9Ls, especially on the A-10. They weren't bad but they really weren't that good either.
I can see the A-10A getting moved up now to 10.0, if they do though, they should also give it it's true to life durability as well.

The Harriers in general don't really rip, even the old Hartriers can pull 14G at 1100km/h without ripping.
They increased the aim9l fin deflection from 18 to 22 deg so they pull a lot harder now

if you get into britain theres plenty of gems to go through to keep you interested, yeah the grinds a bit longer but worth it imo.
I find it interesting that you say that AIM-9L got more flare resistent because for me it goes for every single flare on the map, like and SRAAM or R-60M
For me if you shoot at the rear it is a guaranteed kill even with flairs usually.
I popped 5 large caliber flares and turned off my ab and then pulled hard and got hit by an r60m :(
I fly a Jaguar GR1A... and R-60MK from SU-25K hit me even tho i flared when it was far away... it didn't notice it one bit and just went straight for me...
Mf Premium bias man... when i play R-60's they literally go for a cigar lighter that's on the ground...
But when some premium mf plays them it avoids anything but my engine lol
@@kajmak64bit76 yea the Ls are really good too. A lot of times they go for the flairs but then go back on target and gets me the kill. They pull really hard too plus you can get head on kill since they are all aspect.

It seems to me that the aim 9's in general got buffed, its much harder to defeat a 9l for some reason and even the 9j seems to pull much harder
They all still eat a single flare so I dont really think the change means much.
The aim9L buff changes a lot though, for a heatseeker its actually a good missile now.
