I just finished making a double batch, and I used aplle sauce instead of oil. I baked them 15 minutes and they are chewy and delicious! I also omitted the white sugar on the top. Thanks for the recipe!
I made these cookies for the first time, OH my gosh, absolutely delicious. Iam a senior citizen, my former all through .y younger life i absolutely loved baking. It seems everything I have cooked in recent years nothing, including my cooking, and the baking. I prayed that God lead me through this and support to make sure mine turned out just as the recipe says. I was going to be making Christmas cookies and they turned out awful. I am alone and by my self so every once in a while I get 5he baking angel telling me it is time to make something yummy, I did and ended up taking a full cookie sheet of 48 over to neighbors and friends. Well, they are wanting more
I made these cookies today. They were so easy to make and super delicious. I even shared some with my neighbor. This recipe is a keeper. I was out of cinnamon and cloves but used Allspice which has cinnamon and cloves in it. My family have the cookies thumbs up.
This is exact recipe I am looking for. Thank you so much for sharing. If I want to make egg free what can I substitute for egg? And also saw the applesauce instead of oil. How much applesauce to be used for the recipe? Thank you again for sharing..
Hi What’s the substitute for molasses 😬 don’t have it and would like to bake it quick I have honey and maple syrup at home will any of that do ? Many thanks
I’m sorry I missed this! Honey is a similar consistency but the flavor will be very off ☹️ I really can’t think of a good sub for molasses. BUT my s’mores cookies call for honey! Maybe try those next ❤️😘
I think vegetable oil would be a fine sub. It's 100% interchangeable with canola in both flavor and behavior in a recipe. But as for coconut, I've not tested it so I really can't say for sure and would hate to steer you in the wrong direction! ❤️
Do you know how much applesauce we would use? I tried this tonight with applesauce instead of canola oil (same measurements) and the dough was as runny as cake batter. I thought I must have forgot a cup of flour, I must have done 1.5 cups instead of 2.5 cups so I put another cup of flour in. It was still as runny as thick cake batter. I baked the cookies and they came out like a dense cake. Any ideas? I'm not new to baking either! So weird
Ah man! Sorry that happened. Unfortunately, I have not tested this recipe with any substitutions so I can't speak to that but I hope you got it figured out!
Great question! Baking soda and baking powder are both chemical leaveners but they do not work the same way or accomplish the same results, so to get the correct texture for this recipe you will need baking soda :)
Of course! Here you go! Ingredients 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon fine sea salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1 cup light brown sugar packed 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons canola oil 1/3 cup dark molasses 1 large egg 1/2 cup coarse sugar crystals if desired Instructions Preheat oven to 325° and have ready a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a Silpat. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and cloves. Set aside until ready to use. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, add the sugar, oil, molasses and egg. Mix on medium speed until well-combined. If you do not have a stand mixer, use a large mixing bowl and a handheld mixer. With the mixer on low, begin adding in the dry ingredients a little at a time until all has been incorporated. Take a moment to scoop up any dough from the bottom of the bowl, and bring it up and over the top. Resume mixing on low speed for about 30 seconds to a minute more. This step ensures all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Have sugar crystals ready in a small bowl. Scoop out a tablespoon of dough and form into a ball. Roll the top half in the sugar and place at least 1 inch apart on parchment paper. Bake 14 minutes, remove from the oven and set atop a cooling rack. Allow to cool 5-10 minutes, serve and enjoy.
@@TheAnthonyKitchen i followed this recipe, converted cup measurements according to ingredients , but they came out really sweet, everyone in the family thinks they are too sweet

How much applesauce?
This is the only recipe I’ve seen without butter. Who is looking for one. And it sounds amazing
Thank you, Havad!
Don’t use oil you’ll regret it
you could probably use high ratio shortening as well
I substituted avocado oil for the canola oil. Best molasses cookie recipe ever!!
Yay! Thank you, Michele! So happy you liked them 🤗

This is such a sweet comment. I'm so glad they turned out well for you. Praise! He is with us in all things -- big and small! ❤️
you can substitute apple sauce (I use cinnamon apple sauce) for the canola oil. Makes cookies very moist without the fat!
So smart!
Love the way you articulate, and your well-spokenness. And of course, love the recipe!
That is just beyond kind and I appreciate your sweet words. Grateful for you this morning. Thank you!

You are too kind 🙈 Thank YOU, Steven!!!
What is the oven temperature & how long do the cookies bake?
325°F for about 14 minutes 😘
I’m sticking with Kerry Gold butter as I’m not really an oil fan
Let me know how those turn out! 🙌🏼
I appreciate this dairy free recipe 👍👍👍
Oh yay!!! Thank you, JP!
What temperature and for how long?
14 minutes at 325!
How many cookies does one batch yield?
Anywhere from 24-30 depending on how big you scoop them ❤️
I’m going to try with melted butter since I don’t have oil! I’m optimistic they will still be eaten regardless how they turn out haha
Hope they turned out as you had hoped 🤞🏻❤️

Can I used any brand molasses for my ginger snap cookies
I've used Grandmas and Breer Rabbit; both are great!
Grt recipe, thanks :) any substitute for molasses?
Honey probably has the closest consistency but the flavor would be way off ☹️
@@TheAnthonyKitchen okay I agree, thanks

Can i replace the oil with butter ? How much butter to add ?
I haven't tried to the recipe with butter. Sorry, Mohammed!
Canola oil is so bad for us
What kind of sugar
Light brown sugar :)
How much molasses to add
* 1/3 cup dark molasses | Most of the recipes for my videos are listed out in the description for you!
Oil?
Yes! Makes all the difference in these cookies!
How much molasses
1/3 cup :)

NO to canola oil! otherwise great using butter
I hear that a lot! Need to figure out what’s going with canola oil, I guess 😬
@@TheAnthonyKitchen these are industrial ultra processed oils... butter is always better

Can u share written recipe please?
Of course! Here you go!
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup light brown sugar packed
3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons canola oil

What’s irritating is you don’t say how much brown sugar as you’re demonstrating!
Meezermom, 1 Cup packed light brown sugar.
By the way, the whole recipe is given in the description box.
We’ve implemented that in recent videos. Great tip!
