Boy, I really love this Camaro! I've always thought "Day 2" was just as much fun as "Day 1" when the pride of ownership kicks in. But with this one, every day must be a great day for Mr. Weiner. And the 'adventure' to find the dyno sticker must have been a great day, too. Thanks, Lou!

This is a beautiful example of what you could buy in 1967. No wonder this was such a special time. I even road in one of these back in the day. A friend’s father had one with a very stout 350 and it sure felt fast back in the day. I used to see ones set up exactly like this one, with Cragar wheels and big rear tires cruising around my high school. In those days there was a lot more mystery when it came to cars in general. Information came by word of mouth and the car mags. There were also the brochures, but car dealers didn’t like to give those out to dreaming teenagers.

I sure wish my 67 looked like that! I rescued it from a junkyard in 72. New Hampshire road salt had rotted a lot of the rear quarters and trunk floor. I worked at a body shop back then and tackled the rust work after hours. The front suspension was shot and was replaced. The last mod was pulling out the 250 6 banger and traded a set of wheels and tires at a different junkyard for a running 327. Mated it to the 3 speed standard that it was born with. Never quite finished it paint wise. But, MAN I loved that car! Thanks for bringing back those memories to this old man.

Lou the 67 Camaro is my favorite. This is one beautiful car with an amazing story. You did an amazing job letting the owner tell his Car's story. I really liked it when you were going through the aftermarket booklet and the owner was pointing out the parts he had put on the car. I also appreciated your asking the owner how long it took him to complete the project.

OK, a real day-two Camaro I remember was as a very little kid. This guy lived on Old Salem Road at the corner of Morrow Drive in Clayton Ohio, and was customizing his Camaro by the early '70s for sure. It was a '67 or '68 in Hugger Orange with a black vinyl top. It didn't have Z28 stripes, but it might've had the accent band. It definitely didn't have the '68 stripes which ran back across the doors, from the accent band. My earliest memories of the car are of it having a set of big and little chrome reverse wheels and baby moons. But in the late '70s as I was hitting my teens, I saw it out of his garage, and it had Cragar SS/Ts, (or something racier than baby moons) and its induction was sticking out of a hole in the hood. I never saw the car drive, or at the Carl Casper's Car Show. Only occasionally outside of his detached garage which opened into our neighborhood. I'm pretty sure that this Camaro was an RS or an SS or both - I do seem to remember a blacked out taillight panel which would indicate a 396. We moved from there in '81 to only a half mile away, but I never saw that car again. Sometimes I google the guy's name, but have never found him. He has a rather common name, and would have to be quite old now. I also google orange '67 and '68 Camaros, but have never found it.
I checked the county records, and he moved away sometime in the '80s IIRC, but I still wonder what ever happened to that car.
And later in the '70s, an older kid, again in a corner house, at the other way out of that neighborhood, had a '70-'73 Camaro in dark green with white Z28 stripes and Cragars - again I don't know if it was an SS or a Z28, but it definitely wasn't an RS. He ended up putting a tunnel ram on it - first place I ever saw one! He also lost his license in it, because he worked at the local Sohio station, and I asked him about it when my Mom took her car down there because of stuck license plate bolts my Dad couldn't bust. I don't know why I didn't try them bolts - I had to be about 12 by then, and was already permanently dirty from working on bicycles. Maybe I did and couldn't get 'em. I'd sure bust them today though...

My brother had a 1967 RS/SS Camaro convertible the same blue color with the
327/350 hp engine, 4-speed and a 3.08 positive traction rear end. His car had the
stock hood. His car had the chrome rocker panel like yours plus a stainless
strip along the window wells. He had a white convertible top and a two tone
blue and white interior. I never saw another one quite like it. His car had the
Chevy Rally wheels with red line tires. It was all purely stock and ordered by
the Chevy dealer in Eldersburg, Maryland.

I bought a 1967 SS 396 375 hp 4speed posi, matching numbers in 1977 I was 3rd owner $ 1500. Ran the crap out of it for three years, needed a air compressor, and welder for my shop sold it for $2500. It sold Barret Jackson's this year for $81,500. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.

From the stinger to the Cragers. Even has the Fly Eye on there. If I had to add something I'd say the headers needed to be painted white. But thats just me. This machine is A1 !!!! Very nice and a version I hadn't heard of. I had a '67 SS with rally sport package, hidden headlights etc back in 1985 when I was 20. Vacuum operated headlight doors. Mine didn't work so I had to manually open or close them. Mine was black on black and had the 2 chrome false intakes on either side of the hood. 350/4 speed. Console with factory gauges on front end of console. I was a typical kid not thinking about what I had and would jump from car to car back then.

That is just damn near perfection Larry. I'm a fellow Oregonian and Camaro diehard, and love the stories behind the Day 2/Nickey/Baldwin-Motion/ Yenko/Dana etc Camaros. There was a time in my 30's that i rolled my eyes at Marina Blue(my dad had a Tahoe Turquoise 67 L79/M21 Malibu and i learned to drive in a Royal Plum 67 L79/M20 El Camino, sadly missing the L79 by the time pops got it but those are my 2 favorite Bow tie colors regardless of year) and Cragar SS's. I've since come to my senses on the Marina Blue. The wheels, meats on the rear and Marina blue, (thank goodness minus the typical black vinyl top) in the sun is stunning. Phenomenal job and killer paperwork and love the Nickey influence all over the car!!

BEAUTIFUL car!! That 1967 RS-only bright rocker trim is gorgeous! But I'm not sure if that one should be blacked out under the rockers or not - with certain colors, Chevrolet did not black out the bottoms of the rockers. Those Cragars are absolutely perfect! But I think I'd change back to its original SS hood, with the finned fake hood extractors - I'm kind of a Melvin like that. Four-port extractors are for 396s.
Didn't know any 350s got that old-style oil-fill tube. The 350 was available only in the Camaro in '67, the Camaro and newly redesigned Chevy II/Nova in '68, and the rest of the line-up in '69. Never heard of an ET differential cover! Dilemma for me with the traction bars - I love the look of the yellow ones. Marina Blue under the rocker trim would accentuate the Nickey bars.
I also don't see the Z28 or its 302 mentioned in any of the brochures. No mention in the Nickey catalog either - but get ready to dry your eyes when you see brand new Muncie 4 speeds for $254.43!!! Rock Crusher M22 was like $600 new in the early 1980s. That Nickey/Bill Thomas Camaro wheel looks to be a good fifty years ahead of its time, style-wise!
My Dad's younger brother bought a brand new '68 SS396 Camaro - and had to sell it when he got drafted.

Hey Lou/Larry, you have a beautiful 67 there, yes they were made to be modded and have FUN with!! You have a nice SB with Chevy parts, that 350 HP hydraulic cam was a good upgrade over the 'stock' cam back in the day, 386 HP is plenty for that, hard to believe nothing ever happened to the bottom end after all the years. You have plenty of traction there with those monster tires and i like that rear end cover, what gears do you have? I had 3 1st generations back in the day. I follow 67-69 Camaro's on FB, some VERY talented owners and body men who make gold from trash.
