    You have yourself a genuine RS/SS-350 there my friend. I would agree, I doubt the engine is original, but you have a nice base to work with. Deluxe seat belts, manual transmission car. Very cool!

  • @damonlinkous
    @damonlinkous 2 года назад +5

    Nice inheritance! Besides the rectangle headlights, it's got the hood and drivers mirror from a 68. I was hoping you had included a shot of the cowl tag on the firewall. The engine block would have a code stamped on a pad, just below the front of the passenger head . That code (like V0216ME) tells the engine assembly date and what kind of car it was originally installed.

    • @FadedPaintGarage
      @FadedPaintGarage  2 года назад +3

      Thanks! We decoded the engine block and it's not the original, it's a few years newer and from a pickup.

      The hood could be from a 67. I have one on my L35 67 SS 396. It was an optional item.

    Hidden headlights was a Rally Sport option. Should be able to tell by the tail panel; reverse lights should be in the lower valence panel. Could be a clone but... Very good start. This car is really something! Good luck and have fun with it.

    Only the tag on the firewall will get you a more accurate description of this Camaro. Someone already replaced the sideview mirror and hood trim with a 1968 version…be careful and do your homework. Good luck! 😊

      I'm not very knowledgeable on Camaros but this car has 3L and 4P on the tag. BUT it was built in January in Norwood so it might be an RS 327 and not an RS / SS 350 as I'm finding 4P didn't mean SS until October?

      @@FadedPaintGarage the RS had the front end isignia chrome and the gas cap in the back has also the "RS" chrome isignia, it came with a 327 cu in engine and Powerglide Transmission... The smiliar "SS" (SuperSport) would the same chrome isignia but their engines varied 327 to 350 cu in and usually had the Saginaw three-speed manual transmission. A Muncie four-speed manual was also available. If automatic it was a Turbo Hydra-Matic 350....

      @@gavino2250 Thanks for the info! Everything you mentioned has been removed or replaced on this car, all emblems are missing, someone put in square headlights, it's a basket case that's had a rough life. It was a factory 4 speed car though, is has code 2L on the tag.

    i have a story for u . i do a lot of hauling cars off people places so they can put it up for sell a lot of ranches. i go to a 6,000,000 ranch and they had some rigs for me to haul off some in the shop and some outside and lots of parts because the old man liked to work on rigs. in the shop they had a 79 chevy cheyenne full option truck shot box in mint condition but did not run needed a new fuel pump and carb clean 400 sbc 400 turbo under 35,000 miles on it , then a half restored 67 ss rs 427 yenko next to it looks like someone just started to work on it a 68 ss 396 camaro next to it 2 79 z28's one was a z28 rs t top about 5 engines bunch of new parts and chrome trim for camaro's outside 15 pu's fords and chevy's 67 to 72 models then a big ass motor home they said i could have a roll away tool box full of tool air tool tire changer then they gave me a bunch of sheets of steel all just haul it away for free in one month time i call it my holly grail find.

    Certainly an RS but certainly not an SS, no brake valve on the frame rail another clue is no dual exhaust support plate, it has 68 speedometer gauge housing in it
