Personally, my preferred way of handling multi-ending games is to play the way that feels natural to me for the first run and then try to beat the endings in order from worst to best.
A truly diabolical dev would figure that out and make to your bad ending runs the good endings with a twist and make the true ending path the worst run with a rug pull ending after a series of hope spot placement.
i feel like such an asshole if i do the good ending and it one like this, with a sympathetic character, then just turn around and replay being a dick knowing that they're actually just a sad person who just wants to help-

The good ending is a happy way to show how things started ended up for them
Strawberry who was slowly drifting to insanity and the character who may or may not be struggling from depression. Both of them probably come from bad places, families, or just a rough past. They meet by a chance encounter and end up healing each other. it's beautiful.
yep plus if the they decide to stay a couple can deal with isolation and the sadness of living in a ucidi zone far more then a single person with no outlet or loved ones for support.
Actually even in the good ending they mentions that the life won't be easy at all. But they can deal with it together. And to be real... It can be a True ending too since that is also life. Is not always downer, is also hopeful.

No probably for Strawberry, in the prequel it's revealed her sister got addicted to eating witches' hearts and tried to devour her too.

It's an interesting story. A cheery and peppy witch with meager skills sent to a forest area where she fits in thematically to be a wish granter.
Except when desperate people go to a forest, it's often to kill themselves and she doesn't have the skills to deal with that, magically or socially, so it drives her fucking nuts.
I like it, it's a nice spin. Also happy to see the good ending actually be good, we need more of those these days.
Those people being suicidal didn't come to my mind but it makes sense why they always end up dead I thought it was a a curse or something but this seems more likely
@@timothy6583 same dude i thought the people were just cursed
I know this is a few months old, but I'm glad someone else noticed it too. The main characters desire was "something only they could do themselves" and I think that first girl took her own life too. That adds such an extra level to the happy ending, where two people close to ending it both decide to stick it out and live despite everything. Also makes the bad endings all that more miserable (also keep in mind when she kills you she says she'll grant your true desire)
I always thought she was sent to grant wishes to the suicidal people not to make them turn back.. But more of to have one last happiness before they go.. Thats why they just sent a meager wish granter. She cannot do much but she can make them happy for a bit before they ends it all
Interesting take on the generic person in a secluded location genre. Rather than the house owner appear friendly and then later chase you down/kill you, you are either her killer or saviour. This poor girl actually wasn't an evil or cruel being, she was just at the edge of her sanity after trying to save people's lives to the point she was thinking about ending hers.
I like that concept honestly. I think more people need to explore it.

@Sofia Dominguez She needs a therapist
@@boiyado6717 She needs both, honestly.

I really like the concept of the main "antagonist" in Strawberry actually having very pure intentions. All she needs is some support and to be reassured that she's not alone in this, like she gets in the good ending (which is adorable, by the way). It just makes all of the bad endings even more saddening to see in contrast to the wholesomeness of that good ending

In ending 1 of 5 Strawberry seems kinda justified, though :P
I mean, imagine if you witness someone eating a child alive and then telling you how delicious it was and that it was meant to be eaten... you'd want to chuck them in a furnace as fast as possible as well XD
i got a theory about that one, i dunno why but when i saw that ending first thing that came into my mind was soo shes turning the protag into another strawberry being? since she baked them instead of just stabbing them to death & be done with it. probably wrong though xD based on the other endings she probably did that so she can might aswell feed the protag to the bunnies and just- deliver a brutal death i guess, knowing what they've done right in front of her eyes & knowing what'd become of her mental state at that point
@@menace240 idk, her shoving you into the oven seemed more like a desperation thing than something she actually intended to do
@@dontkickmychick6076 yeah i agree with that, like her breaking down crying & traumatized expression when the protag confronted her before really shows that and i was gonna stick to thinking that she indeed did it out of desperation only until her expression changes...in the last second. like that smile... just screams crazy man, like you're seeing a person getting burned alive and thats your reaction? smiles creepily? to her credit it's more like a "served you right" kind of psychotic smile but still i wouldn't smile like that if i did it out of desperation only i would've just slam the door shut horrified knowing what i just did and broke down crying right after. at that moment for a split second, that smile, i think indicated that she enjoyed seeing the protag getting a brutal death and like i said understandably so, knowing what the protag had done plus knowing after all shes been through seeing people just die over & over with no way of stopping it, at that very moment her mental state just basically reached a breaking point, in a pretty twisted way too, to the point that she reacted that way to someone's horrific way to die. i dont know about you but i think that ending (the title...) is also sorta paying homage to the whole wicked witch that sends everyone she met to their demise rumor at the beginning
@@menace240 I think it’s more of a worried smile
Wouldn't say tossing them in a furnace would be justified, but I see your point.

Strawberry isn't evil. She was just extremely lonely and didn't want to see others die anymore.
I'm fairly certain the baddest ending is the only one where he got his wish.... he came to that forest to die....he didnt come for a wish, thats why he said he had to get it alone...he came for the other legend. Its hard to go through with it though, it always is... youre probably a lot healthier than I am, so you might have missed it, but I know the MC's feels pretty well. Thats also why she killed him after saying she knew what he came for. She was granting his wish.
Personally though, the good ending sounds like a lovely alternative to the true ending.
Yeah I noticed that too I’m surprised he didn’t
Only people who are "Lost" die, it never said PHYSICALLY lost, just lost, so mentally lost could be what it referred to, and the witch was sent to i don't know, become a murderer? idk what the organization that sent her wanted, kinda wish i knew,
@@Jawsomest I think the witch was there to try and help people, but she wasn't really equip to play therapist in a death forest. She was merely a newbie witch still learning her powers, so she didn't have enough sway to grant wishes or help people get out of their misery. The goal was never to kill. She only killed the protagonist in two endings:
1) Where the protagonist eats the strawberry bunny, which to her, seemed akin to tearing apart a puppy and eating it. This was HORRIFYING to her, and tossing the protagonist into the oven was a move of self defense as who knows if he'd attack her next.
2) The last ending shown, where the protagonist emotionally beats her down with how 'fake' and 'useless' she is, feeding into her insecurities, finding her at her most vulnerable and she snaps. Obviously not her intended course of action.
@@pinkpugilist
Okay, but she was told to grant their wishes, not help them, I'm just sayin.
Wait so the good ending isnt the true ending?
So, piecing the info from all the ending together, it seems the MC came to the forest not for the first fairy tale, but the second. They didn't want a witch to grad them money, etc., they desired to perish, like all those that get lost in the forest.
I dunno, I think it kind of makes sense having someone break down over time because they know that the only reason people visit their realm is to end their lives prematurely. And, on top of that, she couldn't even help them despite literally being magic. She's this saccharine last resort in a world surrounded by death, and I think that there's some really clever juxtaposition going on there.
Strawberry being like "well if you want to die I might as well just do that for you now" makes sense to me. I also think that her being there to save people and ultimately failing 100% of the time causing her to want to "follow suit" after a while makes sense. That would probably get to anyone after a while, you know?
Great video as always, by the way! I just wanted to throw my two cents in this time. :)

the disappointment in her eyes was immeasurable and her day was ruined.
"Strawberry jam themed horror game" just sounds like a euphemism for "horror game with blood". Well, I wouldn't be surprised if that is the reason the developers chose strawberries as their fruit of choice.
i really really liked this one, it wasnt soo deep and complex that it felt irrelevant and impossible to actually understand, and it was subtle enough to make the game fun and finding everything out fun. the premise itself is so different for these types of games, for once the other person is actually nice. this was a fun game and strawberry herself was really cute!
This feels like a metaphor for dealing with the traumas from being abandoned or mistreated by social/friend networks. Lots of rumors about Berry, along with her being increasingly nervous/paranoid of the worst outcome and completely shutting down/lashing out when those outcomes do happen or seem imminent. She’s also very fragile and lonely after repeated episodes of terrible outcomes. The good ending is a little saccharine at first, but when thinking it’s a happy outcome for a metaphor like this it becomes very touching instead. There’s always room to heal and to chances to find people worth trusting in the good end, and that’s really nice.
Though that all said all your explorations of all the terrible endings is always entertaining so thank you for another fun video!
This is very well said
Actually I wanted to think that the good ending can be the other true ending in which despite the hardships and the dissapointment, there is room to save someone from beign on the edge. Even in that ending the MC comments that this won't be easy, but maybe he was there to save someone which is Berry.
To be fair, that ending is also realistic since it looks sweet, but in fact, you are helping someone while she is also helping you to not to be alone.

Yknow, if I ever passed out in the woods and woke up to a lady going by the name of strawberry that is also dressed in the fashion of that name, I would immediately assume that I was high on LSD.
So remember kids, if you ever get lost in a forest and find a sweet Witch, don't bully her 😤

!!SPOILERS!!
Man, the breakdown ending is heartbreaking after you've seen the good ending. Poor Strawberry...
Not as much as cannibal cake. That one really broke my heart, because I knew she ended up pushed to suicide and got baked into a cake. That's why Strawberry took so long to come back. And when that last screen once again shows us the empty chair and Strawbunnies smile at what's left of Strawberry, I can't help but feel like crying!
I saw the good ending, and then when manly said: "it's time to be evil"
I immediately turned off the tv.
Because: "I got what I came here for". 😁
strawbunnies are probably one of the most bizarre concepts in this entire game, and the story just never goes anywhere with them. from what little we're told about them we know that A) strawberry has the power to cross animal and plant matter together, and possibly is actively taking wild rabbits to cross them with strawberries, and B) with the information we're given from the good ending, the greater implication is that strawberry possibly had some greater plan in mind to resurrect the people who visit her forest through similar means
I'm sorry for Strawberry for going through such horror of meeting the player.
A cute game with cute witches and strawberry’s! How could anything go wrong right
.………
R-right?
lesson number 1:if a game has a cute art style you already know messed up things are gonna happen
Nah, that witch seems very cute, surely the protagonist got nothing to lose here.
If there is a manly, anything can go badly
@@RealStarlo lesson number 2: if a game with cute art style gives you a choice to be nice you will most likely survive death (at least for longer depending on the game)
@@Kitsunegami lesson number 3: If Manly is the one who that plays it, there is -always- a twist…
Having a terrible sleep schedule really pays off :)
Definitely
Manly through this is just
"Where Money?"
Which yes would be everyone's first choice.
Came back here after watching cherrywitched. The art style has gotten so much better. Proud of the artist ❤
Its interesting to revisit this after seeing Cherrywitched.
im impressed they could fit a (straw)berry And a witch pun together lol. go them! this game was fun to watch through!
25:38 is this a reverse ending version of Hansel and Gretel?
Also I’m seeing a alarming amount of “the milk didn’t come from a cow” jokes and I’m scared
What I was saying
uh oh.
Good lord
Oh god
Manly was right, it feels awful going through the bad routes after doing the good one much earlier. Great game and commentary! Now all we need is a money witch
40:14 "haha Manly, you're going to eat all of our decorations!"
ManlyBadassHero : *I said i was gonna eat this house*
I REALLY loved rewatching this after seeing the cherry pie one you just played! It makes the story so much richer to me... And now I'd really love to see Strawberry introduce the protag to Inquiry 😉
