Ya i fell sorry for the dad
Perhaps the mom is some kind of dominatrix. Judging by the sitters reaction to the drawers.
He was an enabler. Usually happens when one of the parents is an entitled overbearing karen/kyle of the wife’s level. only way that relationship would ever last is if the partner is a passive pushover that enables the behavior because they’d rather not fight and just give the other partner what they want. In a way, they’re just as responsible for any negative traits their kid will have because they value their partners opinion and happiness and their own over the wellfare of there child.
Yeah, he didn't even fight in the "final battle". He just stood there and blocked the doorway. Btw I really like the art and title animations of this game. Haven't seen that quality in a while.
He was just watching them fighting to death, I don’t think that he needed to die too
Ana actually seems like a nice kid taking the majority of her personality into consideration
true. for the degree of neglect and emotional abuse she endures, she's remarkably sociable and able to effectively empathize and compromise
Okay, let's be fair.
*After* getting to know that the main character also had super poweres.. It doesn't feel that strange that she was so calm about seeing knives and platters fly around the house.
That aside, I honestly enjoyed the game. It *was* bananas, there is no disagreeing with that, but it was honestly a fun ride.

And then two minutes after being given cake and smiles and encouragement, the small child with psychic powers is happily watching TV and practising music and just generally being a small child (albeit, one with psychic powers). This actually matches a lot of stories I've heard from people who specialise in working with problem children, or children with special needs; approach them the right way and many of the "problem behaviours" dry up, because they're acting out as a defence mechanism. It was nice to see that kind of real-world dynamic being displayed in a video game, even if it did get a bit whacky at the end.
The True End was legit beautiful, tho. I was super dissatisfied with it until the epilogue started, and then I was very happy. A fitting Golden End for the nasty situation the characters found themselves in. 😊
Yeah that's how that shit works parents just want their kids to be the way they want rather than the way they actually are.

That golden ending was so adorable, it makes me want a sequel and see Ana living a happy life.
Maybe there could be a connected universe thing, where they make a game and you can get helped by the characters of their other games, like Ana and the babysitter
If there ever is a sequel, then I'm gonna bet there's no way both of them would be living a happy life. Chances are, the group-- the organization that, I assume to have experimented on Ana, would most likely be searching for her even after the "parents" got her out. With that in mind, Ana, as well as Kiri (who seems to be oblivious to the possibility of such a group's existence), may be forced to use their powers to combat these pursuants. And as to where that will lead them-- how it will affect both of the characters, depending on the players choices... will be up for debate. I'd like to think that would be the premise of the sequel, if there ever is one.
I like to think that the ending with all fragments of doodle collected is actually canon one

I genuinely feel bad for both parents.
They end up doing bad stuff but they seemed to have good intentions and tried their best.
Hell, they kept their daughter away from an unethical facility despite the threats and warnings they received.
They definitely loved their daughter.
It looks like they tried their best to handle the situation as good parents but things got out of hand.
The kid literally killed babysitters in the past. I wouldn't know what the fuck I'd do if I was a parent in that situation.
I'm guessing they resorted to using negative reinforcement after that. Once that happens, their actions become less ethical over time.
In the end, they view their own daughter as a monster. They both end up dying.
It's a tragic story from both sides. The kid who got abused and the parents who ended up failing.
This comment is the most balanced opinion i've seen and without many likes.
This is exactly the situation but commenters tend to only pick one side like anna being so caring to the daughter, but not put themselves into the parents shoes.
Best comment out of them all in this section.
Seems like a lot of the other comments forgot that Ana nearly killed Kiki (and actually killed her many other times if we were to say the fails are also canon in their own rights), and could've easily killed others so easily, wanting to play forever and so much more. If she was taken care by a normal person, things probably aren't going to pan out to greatly, being stuck in the abyss and having no way to fight back at her?
Probably wouldn't side with the parents with them calling her a monster and murder... Though, murder would probably make some sense with a situation like this, but the mother just- even tried to kill Kiki who was just innocent.
@@nauras.9209 i love this comment, except about the parents calling her a monster and a murderer, because like, is she not? she knows what shes doing to the babysitters. the fact Kiki is so caring and so clueless about anything at the start- it's so cute-
At the beginning I thought Ana's really a monster and didn't commented on their actions.. But as Kiki started to treat her well and Ana started to turn out nice, I realized it was the parents who made her like that. All it took was to be a good parent and the kid wouldn't cause problem. And don't go with "but the kid was psychic and the parents weren't so it wouldn't work out". Before Ana learned Kiki's psychic, she didn't had troubles treating her normally becouse hey, she was good to her.
So yeah parent's are at fault
I'd blame her mom more than her dad, but yeah. They shouldn't have been parents
@James Dube tru tho
So basically Saiki K but his parents weren't accepting
@James Dube Her mom did attempt murder on her
@James Dube No, they all left. The mom _claims_ it happened before at the end (unless i forgot a part earlier) but the mom is beyond unreliable
For once the behaviour of the protagonist makes sense because she's similar to the "monster" child. It's a small touch but makes so much sense because 90% of the times the behaviour of the protagonist in horror games/media is unbelievable.
about halfway through and i love that she's not an evil child, she's just a kid with abilities. finding someone who's kind and tries to understand her being the best step to being able to help her is super sweet

Seriously, how many "child with powers goes on a rampage" stories can be ended simply by having parents that don't treat the child like crap?
Because that's the 'tragedy' aspect. 'If only someone noticed....' 'If only they'd done this, that and the other, all this could have been avoided'.

@Iron Strange If I may. She seemed to enjoy playing music, it was something she was happy with; and would do it for her parents. But because she wasn't doing it normally, they made her stop.
I feel from that, and the fact they locked her in the closet, it's pretty telling that they were not great parents in general. Not to mention them constantly talking about how much of a monster she is, and contemplating whether or not to kill her. They did a lot of terrible things, perhaps some of it was due to fear, but they also were clearly discouraging of her even when she wasn't hurting anyone.
I feel it's incredibly likely they also used corporal punishment due to these reasons, atleast untill they found they physically couldn't
I really love how the promise kept ending went, it gives kind of a relief as an ending
This is so sad. These parents really should not take care of their kid in the first place. Or well, the mother anyways. It is hard to really judge the father when all points towards him only being a part of it because he is caught between getting dragged along and ana doing genuine damage before. He might be a decent parent in a less insane familydynamic but he also might not.
The dad is just as bad. He's completely spineless and does whatever his wife wants, even if that means abusing or straight up murdering his daughter. Even if you're not the one holding the knife, you're still complicit in murder.
Also like, how many babysitters were murdered/braindamaged by that kid for the parents to expect it to happen right away the first night?
You can argue that Ana is, well, you know. But Kiki managed to befriend her so it’s definitely possible. Idk, that theme of this kind of parenting as well as how Kiki talks resonates with me a lot and I like this game
@@MsLilly200 It doesn't take that many, 2 or 3 is enough. And the father can choose the go out for milk and never return route but then you all would judge him for abandoning an obviously bad household. And the babysitter having psychic power is a massive cop out. The father just can't win

In the beginning the parents visited a doctor, who told them that if they didn't put their daughter in a facility she would be very hard to control. Well, I think that Kiki (the babysitter) was put in a facility by her parents, where they did their best to "get rid of" her powers, but only made her forget them. So Kiki could live a normal life, which she did.
I think that's what the doctor wanted in the beginning, to "get rid of" Ana's powers. I don't know if that's crystal clear (what I've commented), but i thought it'd be fun to say!
“She doesn’t need school, I’ll give her everything she needs at home.”
Where have I heard that before?
maybe a quote from matilda?? im not quite sure either

I really thought by the first day that the parents had ran off, leaving the protagonist to be a sacrifice or something.
I’ve gotta say, the art in this game is gorgeous. I mean wow! Hours must’ve been spent on each piece! Not only that, but the gameplay and story is quite interesting. :)

Your Pfp tho...
I love it-
Spoilers!!
At first I thought its a story about a babysitter dealing with Satan's child but as the story progresses you just learn that the child is just an abused kid with powerful psychic powers...
So I really love the true ending because not only you get to see Ana killing her own parents, who really deserve it for being horrible parents(and don't say they're like that due to stress. Kiki took care of Ana alot better than her actual parents in few days!) but you also adopt Ana in the end. It was more sweet than downright bittersweet since Ana got amnesia but probably gained back her memories as soon she saw her old doodle. I just love it when abused characters get some kind of happy ending of their own rather than just be killed off for good...
I just don't think Ana's parents were prepared for this, they seemed to have good intentions in the start, but by the time Kiki enters the scene these parents have already been to hell and back, Kiki got REALLY lucky surviving long enough to get Ana to open up to her. Remember, in the start her mother is against putting Ana in that facility, saying "you saw what they do to the kids in there" or something like that, they really had good intentions in the start.
@@creeperizak8971 the road to hell is paved with good intentions
The fact that the dad is a total doormat does not help, cause uuuh lets be honest I am sure the mother made most of the decision.
I mean come on you yourself were surprised at your wife picking up a knife can you at least be not as much of a doormat?
I feel lile the dad should've lived his cooperation was way too high to be healthy
@@pvtblu1613 At that point, both figures are lost on what to do.
The game even suggests that Ana has killed previous babysitters.
I'd say the father is pretty reasonable in that situation.
Most of us don't realize that we would act like the father.
Imagine if your daughter/son started murdering sitters after all your effort. What would you personally do?
So many games start out cute and get creepy, this one starts out creepy and gets cute.
Also, I like the way she just rolls with the weirdness. First that the house is "haunted," then that the kid has powers.
Man, the portrait artstyle in these games kick ass, just wish spritework a little better.
Definitely an improvement from how Mother’s spritework was, looking forward to the next game

_All she needed was a really good babysitter_
Who is also part of the X-men. The plot was a little out there, but maybe had the parents not been horrible to her, especially the mother & not forbidden her treats or locked her in with spiders, they would've had an easier time. Cute & unexpected.
One of few horror games that have a genuinely happy ending. As most horror games have *of course* the endings were you die. But most "good endings" in horror games are just escaping the atrocities. But a game like this where you getting everything leads to a nice reunion with the "psychic girls" is just endearing.
Also I love how the babysitter and Anna show the fact that you can have two people with the same abilities but depending on how them and the people around them treat that ability it can lead down different paths.
-The babysitter could've very well been like Anna if she didn't have friends and people who supported and cared for her.
-And on the flip side if Anna's parents let her use her powers in a positive light rather than making it taboo and calling her a monster she could've grown up rather normally and probably would've even had real friends.
So it shows both sides in the story. But now that they are together they can both enjoy their abilities and connections, which will make them both all the better.
Was expecting another mad father episode but this also looks like a nice game to fall asleep with ^^

For a horror game, the music's pretty banger. The title screen music, especially.
Also, I like the story of this one. It's surprisingly heartwarming, with the babysitter accepting Ana for who she is, and actively looking out for her like the mother she never had. Bonus points for the babysitter being a badass.

I really think the True Ending was the best ending
I mean, Kiki took more good care of Ana than those abusive parents
seeing Ana’s dark past was very sad, she didn’t deserve that.
But seeing Kiki making good memories with her in her second life was very heart warming
Also, her keeping the promise she made with Ana makes it more heart warming than ever
So seeing Ana restart her life with Kiki was the right choice
This went from an alright game to actually really memorable, a lot of twists that were really well done
I really liked the good ending, and I am glad she found her in the end

They might have loved her if she wasn't a horror movie child. Good kid though, good kid.
They weren't prepared for a kid like this, I can't completely blame them. Think about it like this, you've got a starry eyed couple with what seems to be a bright future ahead of them, but then their kid is like this, and they're simply not capable of handling it. It's really just an unfortunate turn of events, by the time our protagonist enters the scene the parents have practically lost it already.
@@creeperizak8971 This is uncomfortably similar to how some parents talk about having children with autism.
