  • Another great inline skating flow session as only the city can offer on my Endless 90 frames. I love this setup! In the second half of the video, I'm experimenting with the third-person, over-the-shoulder camera perspective that I've been meaning to try. This is the first time I've really tried it, so it's a work in progress need to refine. I'm also not sure if I'll continue using this perspective or not. Let me know what you think in the comments.
    City: Philadelphia
    Setup in this video:
    Skates: FR1 Deluxe Intuition

    Frames: Endless 90 (4x90mm rockered)

    Wheels: Rollerblade Hydrogen 90mm (85A hardness)

      I came here to say exactly that! As an inexperienced solo street skater (I do a lot of London organised street skates, which are awesome, but those are hundreds of us, with Marshalls to lead the way, and guard us from traffic).
      I would love a video with mostly rear POV, preferably camera held high over you, and ideally either a live or post-dubbed commentary: how do you decide which routes, when to switch from pavement to road, which obstacles to avoid, jump or plough through
      Which junctions to take at speed, which ones to slow and stop?
      Was this a familiar route to you, so you knew every element and hazard, or was it virgin, and your decisions are wholly reactive?
      Keep up the great vids!

    • @rerollinginline
      @rerollinginline  2 года назад +3

      Thanks, I’m glad you liked the new perspective! I’m not sure about my stride. I’m sure I’m not doing a “proper” stride most of the time. I think I could be more efficient. But I learned to skate playing roller hockey and now I’m an urban skater and I do a lot of choppy strides and crossovers as a result.

    • @rerollinginline
      @rerollinginline  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! The from-behind perspective is just not as easy or simple. Holding a stick in front is much easier and gives better control than sticking it out behind you. It’s tough when you can’t tell exactly how far behind it is, or at which angle it is. I’ll still try to get more of this perspective though and work on it. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks! I didn't expect to enjoy urban skating as much as I do. I learned to skate playing pickup roller hockey and stopped doing that at 16 years old. 22 years later at 38, I dug the hockey skates out to shoot around in rinks for some exercise. A couple months later I tried urban skating and completely fell in love. My one piece of advice is to make sure you can do it safely. I spent a lot of time and attention to honing my skills (like stopping techniques) before trying to skate in the city, which is inherently dangerous. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @rerollinginline  2 года назад

      These are "Triple 8 Kneesaver" but they're pretty low quality, if I'm being honest. I've had them slide down during falls and still got road rash. I wear them because they're slim. They have also protected me though. Just a risk I take. As you mention, it's hard to find protective knee pads that are also comfortable. Always a tradeoff between comfort/weight and protection.

      Yeah, to be fair I wouldn’t expect him to expect me to be coming. Pedestrians expect things on sidewalks to be going walking speed. Granted, he didn’t even look before running out... but it’s not like I was mad about it. I’m very cautious on sidewalks because I don’t belong there at the speeds I go at times. Unfortunately I don’t belong in the street either. Us skaters don’t belong anywhere, lol. I almost didn’t include the clip, but it’s a good reminder to pay attention when skating, and never assume anyone else is paying attention. Especially when you’re potentially in the path of pedestrians, whether they’re paying attention or not. I get a lot of clips that don’t make it into the video like this where a line is ruined by traffic or pedestrians.

    i have the powerslide zoom 80 but they are not fast i have to do a lot of effort to roll them, i am looking for something fast and durable. i was looking at flying eagle 4 raven or the f5s eclipse but i'm not sure if they are fast ? or should i use a 3 wheel skates instead ? please i need your advice

    • @rerollinginline
      @rerollinginline  2 года назад

      The skates in this video are FR1 Deluxe Intuition. Gear is listed in the description of the video. I don't have experience with the zoom 80 or either of the flying eagle models you mentioned, but they will all probably feel similar. They're all plastic hard shell urban skates with 4x80mm wheel setups. Are your powerslides the zooms or the zoom pro? I'm asking because the zoom pro will allow you to just buy a new frame for the same boot if you wanted to experiment with other setups, like 3 wheel skates for example. You'll need a trinity mount frame, like these: powerslide.com/collections/powerslide-urban-frames
      But if you have just the regular zooms, and the frame is riveted to the boot, you won't be able to only change the frame and wheels

    Dang man those stops are wicked. And so consistent. You've basically replaced the drag with this plow technique...whew!

      I do love my soul slides. Far superior to drag stop, especially once you get really comfortable with them. My most used speed control technique. I've done a video about why I love them: ruclips.net/video/IAegBwiL784/видео.html

    This motivates me again to get inline skates because the only things I have that unique are a fixed gear single speed and an unicycle. Thanks a lot for the motivation🫡

    Please tell me how you learned to rollerblade! In addition, what is the best way to learn proper the technique? Lastly, how long should I be quality blading a day?
    Awesomeness 🔥

      I learned it all as a kid, playing pickup street roller hockey. Stopped when I was 16 and didn't skate again until I was 38 and started this channel. I'm sure there are tutorial for technique, but I've never really been a big learner from tutorials. I like to just skate and experiment. I'll watch videos for general tips, but figure things out through trial-and-error mostly. As for how much you should skate - I don't know, lol. I'm not a trainer or anything, but I've always followed the rule of "listen to your body". If you don't think you're overdoing it, then you're probably not. If you feel like you need a break, or you're injuring yourself, you should probably ease off some.

    Quick save when the guy in blue stepped out. I had someone walk off the curb and cross the street without ever looking up from their phone. Luckily I wasn't a car.

      Yeah it’s a reminder to keep the mentality that everything around me is trying to kill me and to pay attention, haha. Walking off a curb into the street is just dangerous. In my clip, I’m actually in the “wrong place” since sidewalks are for pedestrians, not rollerblades. Still, you’d think people would check before literally running out into anything. Awareness might be the most important skill when you’re skating the city!

    Great work, so I have aquestion, is the 88a 110 mm wheels suitable for urban skating?

    • @rerollinginline
      @rerollinginline  2 года назад

      Thanks! Yes, plenty of folks skate wheels that hard and big. I’ve personally never used harder than 86A, but I’ve got some 90A wheels delivering tomorrow because I’ve been wanting to try harder wheels to see what they’re like. Some folks recommend not using bigger wheels as a beginner, but I wouldn’t really know since I was a beginner as a kid and can’t really reference it.

    P.S. I'm kinda jelaous of your ability to transform km of skating into the number of subscribers without actually saying a word :D.

      Thanks! Haha, I’ll never understand how RUclips works. Besides my tutorials, my best performing videos don’t have any voiceover 🤷‍♂️ I don’t always know what to say for narrating flow style videos, so many of them are just these music video style ones. I have a lot of work to do in the video production side of things.

      @@rerollinginline the 3 POVs here are brilliant, the music is perfect, so are the vibe and compositio ... No need for a voiceover.
      I believe if you colorgraded your videos a bit with your editing program (you can learn this on RUclips and it takes like 2 minutes to do) to suit the emotions you'd like to convey, your videos would look like straight out of a documentary or movie. Even if you decide not to, they are stunning, love them, keep it up

      Not sure completely. Overall maybe 10? I’m not sure when I started (8 or 10 years old maybe?) but stopped at age 16. Picked it back up when I was 38.
      Thanks for watching and happy skating :) practice makes it a little easier every time.
