***HOW DO I PAY MY BILLS IN CASH??***
Probably my most asked question on this video, so I figured I'd pin the answer! This video is a few months old, but in the past I would take the money for my bills out of the bank so I could keep it "safe" from myself and my awful habit of swiping my debit card without thinking. Then, a day or two prior to when the bill was due, I'd re-deposit the money into the bank. Definitely not the most practical method, but it worked for me for years! All of my bills are kept in a Capital One 360 account now, and if you want an in-detail video about this, check out my video titled "Changing how I do Cash Envelopes" 😊
Thanks for watching!
Alyssa Herbert do you mind me asking but we’re do you work?
Alyssa Herbert And were do you get your book from for to write it down
Don you end up affecting your taxes or something? It’s like the bank think you’re earning double the same money if you withdraw and deposit the same money.
Bvgjjjik
@@Imkpopmom taxes are not based on what is put into a bank account. It's based on your you paycheck. So I could withdrawal and deposite the same $500 everyday and it wouldn't change my tax bracket.
I've never heard of this system in my life. I'm a really impulsive spender. I'm 26, with no savings, and this gave me a little hope to hopefully be able to survive paycheck to paycheck.
dave rasmey is great
I've been using this system since I was 16. I live in a travel trailer-paid for in my name.
My truck-paid off in my name.
It's a great system. Makes you really think lmao.
@@juliesartin6611 That's what I'm hoping to do as well! Van life vs travel trailer. My grandma loves her travel trailer. It's cute and cozy!
My cousin took the save Ramsey course at church, she told my husband and I to take it and my husband was hesitant....2 years or so later my husband hears about this from a guy he met at work and now were trying to find a church to take the course...if you get the chance to take it Take it it's very helpful I've heard and obviously this girl is proof..alot of people dont have a single dollar to fall on in case of emergency...and that's truly sad in a country like this..of course everyone's income is different
isabby1784 you don’t have to have a church to do it!! Go on line and look up his lessons my parents bought their teen lesson books and videos for me my brother and his girlfriend a couple years ago and we did the teen course
I should be doing this, but instead I'm just on youtube watching other people do it. I pity me.
Lol
Its ok. It’s a start
I absolutely love how you broke this down. It makes so much sense. I personally hate going to the bank to either put money in or take out. But I can definitely see why you would do this.
I'm so so glad that my way of doing things makes sense to you! Thank you for watching!
I wish there was a way of doing this without taking anything out of the bank! I mean, it’s 2018, why can’t we have virtual envelopes? 😅 it does make so much sense though.
My bank that get my direct deposit is located in my grocery store so when i get paid i pull out what i need to for the cash envelopes and get my grocery shopping for the week done.
I don't know why but this reminds of playing Monopoly lol!
chubbins57 that’s what I kept thinking 😂
True it is , but with real cash😏🙄
Oh my gosh yes!!! Lmao!
i lowkey was thinking that the whole time
its all that bill counting and denominations separated in piles
This makes my heart so happy... to see a young adult taking ownership of a life skill (budgeting) that can overwhelm and often times lead to unneeded stress is AMAZING!!!!!! Well done you ❤
p.s.
I just purged my planner supplies and I have lots of new sticker sets I was going to donate. I would love to send you instead!!!! If you have a PO Box, feel free to message me and I'll pop those in the mail
You are TOO SWEET! I know it makes my parents proud to see too, my dad always brags that I'm way better with money than him 😂 I've seen my parents struggle with money for a long time, so I'm just avoiding that as best as I can! Thank you so much! ❤️ I would absolutely love those! You're amazing! Unfortunately I don't have a PO box set up 😞
I would love to purchase these envelopes from u ?? Very interested
I’m 21. I need to do this. I wish I had a job paying me 1k every 2 weeks though 😬😩
Yes, watching from Europe, if you'd get that monthly it would be awesome. Weekly would be amaaaazing. But controlling your budget certainly helps to get the most out of it
I don't even have a job I need to do something but idk how 😭😭
Lol its not amazing. My paycheck is around the same as hers.. However, rent is like $1,800+ a month for a very small one bedroom apartment where I live. The higher the wages, the higher the cost of living is.
Perfect time to join the military and make money and go to school :) #usaf
I make the same as her and I’m only 2 years into my hair career (:
I really want to fix all your bills and have them all face up and heads facing the same way! I really enjoyed this video its my first one. Hopefully you dont take my comment the wrong way its just like a weird pet peeve lol
LOL you're probably the third or fourth person who has been really bugged by it. Cracks me up! I knew when I was filming that it'd really bug SOMEONE 😂 I don't take it the wrong way at all! I can't promise they'll be perfect every time but this Friday's cash envelope stuffing I'll make sure the bills are perfect!
Alyssa Nicole Haha thatd be amazing! I really love your envelopes i made myself some i watched your other video! Such a great idea. I too follow Dave Ramsey and i really love how you do everything! ❤️
I work at a place with tips and 2 if the managers that count bank st the end of the night always make all the heads face the same way
I used to work in cash and Hated it when the other cashiers didn't place all their bills the same way 😂
Omg I’m the same way, I want to try this envelope system and will definitely make all the bills face the same way and same side :) glad I’m not the only one
Her not facing all the bills in the same direction is giving me anxiety
Same
Glad I'm not the only one 🤣
Me 2! 😂😂😂
Lol... 🤣
🤣OCD
I love this idea! I’m 23 and although I make pretty good money, I’m an impulsive spender. I just started bullet journaling and now I’m gonna try this!!
Kaykay 94 I’ll have to check them out when I have a little more funds! 😂💕
At forst i thought this was weird and pointless, cause i didnt understand it... but now i see the genius behind it all. Very smart idea and i wanna try it now see how it works.
I'm jealous that you have a car payment that's $178..... thats good
Mz Phit31 I think it’s split up over two pay checks
Oh I wish! I have a $356 car payment, I just split it up across my 2 paychecks for the month.
Alyssa Nicole I’m jealous that it’s $356. Mine is $502 however I drive an Audi but still
I have a $180 car payment a month bc I got hella lucky. The car dealership sold me an already sold car and to make up for that they gave me a damn good deal on a Chevy Cruze.
Uhm what is your work? I need to do that????????
Im still not past the car insurance only being $65. Im dying here
Shavaughn Parker my car insurance is $130 😊 I split up all of my payments across my 2 paychecks.
And here l am freaking out on the oposite way. I live in Mexico and pay about 300-350 for the whole year!
my car insurance is $960 a month 😳😳
WHAT?! How?? Where? WHEN? WHY?! Have you gotten in accidents? Like...a BUNCH? Do you have 300 cars?! My mind is blown lol
Alyssa Nicole no accidents lol 2 2018 cars, an older truck, a young driver, and a dui 😬 i really need to shop around for new insurance
It is so fun to watch you count your 💰 money.
I'm so glad you guys like these videos, I worried they'd get redundant and repetitive but they're my most viewed videos so I'll keep making them!
My grandfather, who was born in the 20s, taught my mom this when she went to college and had to start budgeting her money. She has now passed down the envelope system to me and my sister and I couldn’t imagine doing my bills any other way. Everything I spend money on has an envelope and it makes it so effortless when it comes time to pay for something! It’s cool to see someone else doing it as well! Most of my friends thought I was weird for this lol
Cash envelopes have helped me a load and have helped me save every single month. My coin jar piles up and every month I have bills left over from my spending. Plus my savings account actually looks like a saving account.
I just stumbled upon this video out of nowhere but I’m so glad I did!! I’m still very young so I don’t have bills to pay just yet but I’m inspired and loved this idea! Definitely going to consider doing this in the future. Thank you!
Sonira T same tomorrow I get paid I’m putting everything in an envelope splitting everything I need omg
Your envelopes are so pretty!
Thank you very much! 😊
They look very similar to the budget mom envelopes
Alyssa Herbert where to you get your envelopes and planning book ?
Sweet idea I will defiantly try this.. came at the perfect time in my life ❤️ thank you for making the time to make this I really appreciate it
I need to,start doing this. thank you so much for sharing!
You're so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed :)
Okay. It’s settled. I’m making myself an envelope as well.
that moment you want & need to do this, but you live in an area where you're more likely to get robbed 😂
She has a safe hehe
Alot of people in that situation would open checking accounts. Just make sure there isn't any monthly service fees or at least low fees.
Exactly lol

Why are this videos so satisfying. I have been doing this process for myself n my partner for years and we dont worry about any bills because this method make us save , cover two months in advance in Bill and enjoy the little things we want. Even if you dont make a lot of money this is great to in sure you can make it.
I need to do something like that, I literally have no money in my saving account and I have to pay for school pretty soon. Every time I go out I always come home with something new that I don’t even need or use
Ugh so hard!! I really hope you can get on a written budget and control that spending, I've totally been there!
Same hahaha omg
Try only going out with cash and leave your card at home. Seeing bills going away may affect your more than just swiping a card.
Kstepballa thx for the advice. I will try that. I always carry cash with me now but I always have my card with me so I end up using it all the time even though I have cash on me. Now I’m planning on just leaving my card home.
now the target store has these schedule books, the grad students are the best mentors ever, to this day I always get the best ideas. Love them for them.
I love that you are saving for school and a new laptop. That is awesome!!! I have recently really gotten into using cash envelopes as well... and every time I go to the bank they ask me about it... I get paid once a month so I go after I get paid and take out around $800... in crazy bills. It’s funny.
Thank you! :) Cash envelopes really are the best! LOL people really are curious about what we do! I basically take out my ENTIRE paycheck every 2 weeks and I get asked if I'm making a big purchase or something, and then I have to explain the cash envelopes thing. I like talking about it so I don't mind too much, but it's definitely a quick way to become "that girl" at the bank!
What are crazy bills?
Iulia Cordus usually if you're taking money out of the bank, you can get it in 20's or 100's... getting your money in as few bills as possible. crazy money is asking to split the money you're taking out in different bills, say you want 8 1's and 3 50's or 11 10's, it's crazy because there's a big split up with money... i didn't explain that well but i hope you understand it a bit more
I’ve been doing something like this for about 20 years. When my hubby first met me he said why so many envelopes. Now he has them in our safe as well. I’m always looking for ways to reduce spending and pay stuff off. Great job!!
I really enjoyed this video!! I’m super inspired to start this ‘envelope method’. 18 and pregnant plus on my own so I need to start learning how to budget, your videos are so helpful!!!
The envelope system is amazing ! My husband and are newlyweds & it has helped us a lot ! We are totally on top of our expenses & it makes everything so much easier. Totally looking forward to buying some new cute envelopes 😍
Wow I just found your channel and I’m so inspired. I did a method of my own but I always got confused and stuck and I end up spending more than I gave myself. But when I found your channel I’ve never been happier with my money!
its nice you dont have rent. waiting for you to sell your cash envelopes!! so cute!
Lucky her where dose she even work that her checks are like that
Velvet Rosas here in Florida my husband gets that amount plus some in a weeks pay. Just have to find the right job for you
@@LargerFamilyVibes i would think that you need much more income to survive being you have a big family to support. travel nurses are making 2000-3200 per week. Regular nurses are making 1600 per week doing 4 days a week. Much more money than that is out there to be made, find the right career.
If you own a house you don't pay rent lol
@@velvetrosas9528 pretty much everywhere. I know in pa you get 2k a week
This is asmr
This is so inspirational!!! Thank you!! I’m totally adding this to my budgeting routine
Awesome! Thanks for watching! 😊
This video is getting me inspired for 2019. I really want to be more smart with my money, I’m 25 and I’m very fortunate to have the job I do and what it pays... but I want to break my bad habit of spending whenever I want or when it’s really unnecessary.
This is how my mom taught me growing up👍🏽 budgeting.
This is the best adulting I’ve seen in my life
I really love this idea, but id be so scared of something happening, like a house fire, or robbed, or anything like that!
I like this idea. I’m such a visual person and this helps me plan and see where my money is going!!!
This is my first video I’m watching your technique for saving is very smart I feel when we keep our pay on our debit card I can speak on my self I tend to swipe a lot and get distracted about the bigger picture but removing and separating it is a wonderful idea make you keep track and stay focus love your ideas never to old to learn I’m 40 and never done this before thanks for sharing I really did learn from your video 😊
I agree
love the envelopes. I've seen boring white envelopes used but this is so much better.
This is awesome! You will be doing great 10 years from now. You've inspired me 💕
I love this! I’m 54 years old and a self proclaimed money manager, lol. I used to work at at bank and really appreciate the way your denominations are together. I’d add having all the bills facing the same way, in my OCD world! Lol
Dave Ramsey would be so proud, i love this!
I have a system almost similar to this but I use one envelope & sticky tabs to divide my cash. Really helps a lot to know your ready for the budget you need well in advance. I’ve already got my budget ready for the new year. Currently saving for a new phone & am a few hundred away from what I need. Goal next year is to just put more money away. I’ve been using this system for 2 years now & has made a more stress free life knowing I’m ready for my budget when it’s due. Thanks for sharing your system.
I have 2 separate bank accounts - one for my college bills + rent, and the other for my “extra”. It helps me sooo muchn
Omg I love this method. I think it would work especially great for teens who still live at home and don’t have to worry about bills. I think it’s a great way for them to manage their money and split it up into categories
Do you have a video explaining how you break down your check and how you get money from the bank?
I’m Australian and I just want to say this video made me love our money 💵
I don’t know how I found this video but I’m obsessed 😍 Definitely subscribing and watching your other vids!!!
I'm so so glad! Thanks for watching!
Wow. You go girl. That cannot be easy. You're very responsible. #learning. And I'm 30 years old with 7 kids. God bless you, you will live a prosperous life
Oh my gosh I love your videos 👍🏻 I’ve been sharing your videos with my coworkers and telling them about it 😊 I’ve also been thinking about doing the same thing with my own budget 😊 although I’d like to think I had a good budgeting system, until I seen your videos and I was like 😱 I need to try this 👌🏻
I didn't even think of this system, this speaks to me on a whole different level! Thank you!
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!!
wish i had that much self-control 😂
i’m so satisfied by how organized this is
Love your envelopes! Let me know when you start selling them and I’ll include them in a video!
I really needed to see this! Thank God RUclips recommend me this video. I’m starting my new part time job while also going to school. This video was really helpful. Thank you so much!!
So glad you found it!
You are soo so so organized 😁It's amazing
This is so satisfying to watch. I always have separated my money for different savings! Glad to know I’m not the only one😊
I love your envelopes, and how your system works, but girl, I wanted to turn all those bills the same way 😂😂 I use to work in the back office of Publix, and that was my per peve. My husband laughs at me about it, but it literally makes me nervous lol. Anyway, thank you for sharing and I can't wait to buy some of those envelopes 😊😊
LOVE THIS VIDEO ! I’m watching this because I do wanna move out soon I need a good job and I’m learning how to budget at a young age!❤️
I love how you've mastered this system. I have a few questions I hope you can answer, which envelopes do you put in your safe and wallet? How do you ask for your bills at the bank? Finally, what are the categories you have for your envelopes? Thanks for this video!
I deeply admire you for being able to stack cash and put it back not all facing the same wat
I’d LOVE to know what community college you go to that’s only $300 for 6 credits and $100 for books.
Mine was $1200 for 4 credits and $500 in books. Per semester!!!
Lindsay Marie I wanna know too coz mine wasn’t that cheap either
Y’all don’t get fafsa ??
I was drooling at the amount of organization in this video
I love your videos! I will say the former retail employee in me was cringing with the cash going so many different directions. It's a curse...lol!
Could watch videos like this all the time! So interesting! Thanks for sharing how you use your cash envelope system! We all have different bills and expenses so the amounts are fun to hear about! We also do this each month and have a video on it! We are excited to see our community and channel grow in 2019! Thankful others value budgeting and reap such great benefits from it too! Great job, Alyssa!
Wow this just made me feel so unorganized. Deff subscribing so I can get my life together like this
Hey there! I’m about to be a high school junior and I’ve only recently realized that finances are an important thing I’ll have to worry about soon now that I’m slowly growing independent. I know nothing about money and banks and stuff which kind is kind of scary, but your videos are very calming to watch. Hopefully I’ll be as good at managing money as you are! :)
Cash budgeting is the best way!
This is seriously amazing and I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me with how creative you got with your budgeting!
I watched this video and all I thought about was Kylie Jenner being a billionaire at 21
Cris Lucas same
Its easy when shits handed to you. gotta have money to make money
Don’t worry lol she came from money and didn’t have to start from the bottom like most people. Just keep grindin 💪🏾💪🏾
Wow this was satisfying to me. It’s so smart and organized I’m definitely going to do this when I get older and have a job.
Great video, this is a huge help for me visually seeing as how I recently ordered Dave Ramsey's setup. His looks a bit overwhelming, haha. Thanks!
I'm so glad it helps!
My grandmother has done this system for years. It works wonderful
I recently lost my job and I wish I would have budgeted before I did so I was able to still pay for things I needed with my savings. This is going to really help me when I get a new job.
It’s like 4am here and i just discovered this... THIS IS GENIUS. I’m definitely doing this.
This is a great video, thank you for sharing it with us. I want to get some of your envelopes when they come up for sale.
Thank you! I will make some soon for sure :)
Oh man. I need to do this. We’ve learned about in general financial literacy but actually seeing you do it makes it feel much more attainable for me. I have a problem with spending my money online or through my debit card when I really need to be saving it/budgeting for various things. I’m really glad I stumbled upon this video!
That is a smart girl
I will be buying your money envelopes!!! When you were stuffing your envelopes I literally said to myself that I needed those in my life! Thank you!!! Can't wait!!
💰💌.
okay, so i'm curious... are you paying your bills in cash?? or putting that money back in the bank? or what?? 🤔🤔 haha, i'm watching and am sooooo confused as i thought the cash envelope system was for the extras, like spending, gas, groceries, hair cuts, etc - but then i'm hearing insurance, cell phone, etc... 🙀🙀
Great question! It can be confusing, I know my method is strange and kind of backwards to some. But I am a serial swiper, I'm very bad at using my debit card and not thinking about purchases, and next thing I know I have no money left for my bills that are due! So for me, taking things out in cash, putting them somewhere safe such as in an envelope, is easier for me. That way, if I wanted to spend that money I'd have to consciously go into that envelope and take out the cash, which obviously I'd never do. But yes, I go and put that money back into my account when it is time for the bill to be paid. In the future maybe I'll have two checking accounts set up? One strictly just for bills, no actual debit card attached to it. We'll see! But my method won't make sense or work for everyone.
This is exactly what I was thinking and wondering the same thing
Hopefully I cleared it up for you a bit, if you need any further clarification just let me know 😊
I was wondering the same thanks for the q an a.
Funny, I was just wondering the same thing. I understand about being a serial swiper. This is why I'm watching cash envelope videos now. I swipe my card extremely too much.
OH MY GOSH HOW COOL THAT SOMEONE MAKES DETAILED VIDEOS ABOUT THIS THANK YOU
Love your whole setup!😊
Thank you so much!
So happy this came up in my recommendations! This makes me excited to save too! You are absolutely organized and seem very genuine! You earned a new subscriber💕
I’m living paycheck to pay check and really want to have this system. But as soon as I get my paycheck I have to pay the full bills with all my money. How did you get it so that you could set aside half of the bill each paycheck and then at the end of the month be able to pay from the 2 times you put money in. I hope that made since.
I am SUPER happy I found this video, I don't have a lot of responsibilities but my dad just started having me pay Car insurance and my phone bill, so I need a good way to separate my money and give myself a little bit more control on how to budget.
$40 on grocery’s?!?! God bless you 😂
I can already imagine how stress free you are by doing this, it so smart
I think it's hard as alot of bills are direct debit
I use this system too! I am able to make a lot of things work because of this, whereas I wasn’t able to before using just cards for everything. You are really able to keep track of it more doing this.
This was so satisfying to watch your envelopes are amazing I hope you can make them in purple 💜 I made mines already but yours are really pretty, you r going to sell good ;)
I'm so glad! Thank you so much :)
Love the organization. I thought I was the only one to organize money that way. I will definitely try this method soon‼️‼️
How can you spend 40usd in groceries.... I spend 50 every week!!
I've talked about this before but I'm fortunate enough to be living at home while I'm going to school and working full time, so I can eat the food that is in this house. That's the only way I'm able to make that amount work.
Sk Scarlet great question
Buying packaged foods and not utilizing sales raise up the prices probably of your groceries if you do so. Produce is mostly cheap and fruit. The meat is the most expensive but I buy when I see a good sale and freeze the extras
I spend 30 every other week
99 cent store buying what you really need making your dollar stretch
Omg I do this same thing !!! I didn’t know other people did this . My friends call me crazy but I don’t overspend using this method !
How do you know how much to put in the “Fun” envelopes?( shopping, movies, birthdays, trips etc..)
I’m honestly going to start this in 2019. I can’t wait. You’ve inspired me so much to be more conscientious with my money!
Im sorry if this question is rude to ask but what do you work in?? Id pass out if i received a paycheck close to $1,000. Im living off of a $200-$300 paycheck every two weeks. Im definitely in the wrong field.
Lee B Do you work like ten hours a week?? Lmao she just works more hours than you
Rips and Rants this comment is so rude and uncalled for. I get paid minimum wage, as do many people, so even if we did work the same hours then she’d be making way more money than i would be making.
Its funny how some people like you have never had to scrape up money to buy groceries for the week yet still have the audacity to open your mouth and make fun of people who work their ass off every single day to make enough money to stay alive.
Lee B I work two minimum wage jobs. Shut the fuck up because someone pointed out a minor detail. In no state do you work full time and make 200-300$ a biweekly check. I just pointed out that she works more hours, that's why she makes more money, don't be a whiny brat.
Rips and Rants I NEVER said i worked a full time job. If you really do understand how hard it is then why are you out here making shitty ass comments to something that doesn’t even concern you. Keep your ugly negativity to yourself.
Lee B
You literally started your comment off with “I’m sorry if this question is rude...”
If you think it’s rude, then there’s no sense in asking.
I love that you are so organized
Your budget planner looks like what I want who makes it and where did you get it
It is a "Happy Planner" with a 6 month extension pack added. There is a separate video on my channel all about my budget planner!
Same exact comment I would of wrote
Looks like a happy planner u can get them anywhere..michaels staples
Omg when you forgot toiletries I was DYING lol 😂😭💀
