April, we are right there with you about the take out. Our Air fryers really help with making meals quick, easy and tasty.... chicken wings, fish, fries, etc..
I love how you mention that you will go forward and back when it comes to debt. We had a car that we were making payments on and found out that we needed a new transmission, brakes and a few other "little" repairs for it. We did not have any kind of warranty on the car so all those repairs would be our expense. Unfortunately, they were more than the car was worth, and more than what we owed on the car. So we traded it in for a newer vehicle with slightly higher payments because we opted for a warranty. Hindsight says that yes, there were probably cheaper cars, etc we could have bought and so on, but now we have a car that is more reliable and we are starting over on our car payment debt... and for this particular instance, I'm ok with that since wenow only have a car payment and a personal loan payment each month. Our savings challenges for the new year will almost all be going towards eliminating the new car debt.
Wow! You guys are really chugging along! Only 2 consumer payments is a huge accomplishment!! Sometimes decisions like that are absolutely best for you. I likely would've done the same thing... the extra funds for the more reliable car were likely worth the stress saved in the long run of trying to fix the other one.
I like to use my credit card to pay for gas, groceries, Amazon purchases, and any coffee/eating out because I get cash back for doing so. Then I pay it off with the cash at the end of the month. I turn the cash back into gift cards for things I purchase regularly, and roll the cash for those purchases to get ahead in other sinking funds!
Having just started a budget, I watched a LOT of RUclips, but have landed on a hybrid like you mentioned. Makes a lot of sense! Finally, and found your process doable and not overwhelming. Thanks!
I am so glad that you felt it was easy to understand and not overwhelming. I get overwhelmed easily, so I try to break things down to a basic level. I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Thank you 💛
Omg, I have watched SOOO many videos on cash stuffing to try & see if this will work for me & your way of doing this is the 1st one that I am actually able to follow & understand! I kinda live in the middle of nowhere so going to a bank for cash all the time would cost a bit more in gas. Thank you so, so much!!!!!
Hihi! This makes me so happy! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and let me know 😊 I hope you will continue to find ways to save that work for you. Thank you again ❤️
Great to have you back. Loved the video and digital concept. Thank you for sharing this with us. I am going to do this method. Can't wait for your next video for the savings challenges. Love all your creations. Xx
Hey Kerry! Thanks so much for the warm welcome back. I love hearing that you are going to give this method a try. I hope all is well with you and your savings. Thanks for being here. 💛
This would be ideal for Capital One 360 Checking (no fees for empty accounts, no overdraft allowed, only one debit card allowed, so transferring is required to access funds with the debit card, just like taking cash out of an envelope and into a wallet).
I see these and I’m like. Wow mortgage $650 sounds so great. I’m paying 6800 a month on a 30 year plan. Sigh. I picked the wrong state lol Thanks for being so transparent :)
Hi there! Oh no! I don't want anyone to feel bad seeing my lower numbers. If you take into consideration, it's really all about the cost of living in your area/state. I bet you're bringing in more income every month, and are likely in a beautiful home and neighborhood. We purchased a mobile home and we aren't in the "healthiest" of economies where we live. But we take the good with the bad. Everyone's needs, values and outlooks are different. But, your home is your sanctuary. And whatever the cost of living and your earned wages, you should be proud and happy of what you've accomplished. Thank you for taking a moment to chat with me. I wish you all the best. ❤
This Will Totally Work For Me!!! I Am Not Able To Get To The Bank All The Time 😊You Always Find Ways To Help, Thank You But This Will Really Work For Me As I Start This Journey 30,000 In Debt I Will Give My debt Free Testimony In Time 😊I Saw Yours And It Gave Me Hope!!! Thank You And God Bless You For All You Do!!! You Have Blessed Me Today!!! Have A Wonderful Day!!!😊💕
You are such an awesome lady! Thank you so much for your kind words.🌷You can kick that 30k! Just keep reminding yourself of that future you that is debt free. You got this!💖
Hey April, hopefully one day I will be able to have less transfers back to checking. I am going to try the reloadable debit card and see if I spend less. I budget bi-weekly, bills get paid but variable spending is variable even tracking everything. I have been doing more pick up groceries to stop the unnecessary items getting in the cart. I think the reloading debit from a separate account will be so helpful. Thank you for all your tips 🐝❤️🐝
Hi Angel! I hope all is well with you 💛 I started with the reloadable debit card, and with my groceries. For me, putting the budget max on there really helped me figure out where my money was going. And the main culprit for me.. was take out. I also find that planning the meals in advance and then taking in a list helped me avoid extra items sneaking into the cart. I tend to keep focused on the list and my head down when I do that. Groceries are just all around depressing right now.. I can't believe how much food is. We will all get through this 🐝❤️🐝
Haha, I'm so glad you don't find it boring! I used to use placeholders. But recently, I wanted to try tracking with just the trackers and banking app. I will be using prop money for my savings challenges - it not only makes it more fun, but easier to track. But as far as my budget goes... I am enjoying not having binders, and envelopes, and all the side things. It's always an ever-evolving process for me. 😅 Thank you so much for watching!
love your videos April glad to see you back at it again. I do both cash and digital, my daughter is just starting out as a young adult and uses, digital, so we use play money and stuff play money in her category in her binder wallet
Hi Gina! Thanks so much for being here! I love that you and your daughter share the saving experience! I am going to use prop money for my savings challenges still. I think there's definitely a way for everyone to find a solution that works for them, and it's great to hear how you have both figured out ways that work for you. Thanks for watching!
When I read the title of the video, I thought that you used spreadsheets to budget (that would be the digital part) but I guess I was wrong! hahahah I'm a very digital person, I work with IT, I do my budget on a spreadsheet, but I was, as you said, on a place where money was not a physical thing to me. I'm still budgeting on a computer, but I'm using the envelopes so that I can create this relationship with my money, especially when I'm spending! I think it is awesome that you know yourself so much, congrats on your journey!!!
Hi there! 👋 It's funny you mention the digital/electronic.. I sat here and thought about it and I was thinking technically.. I'd call the spreadsheets "electronic" (vs. paper). But I totally think either word is a true description of it. 😅 You can do what I'm doing on an annotation app and make it full "digital/electronic". Oh, I love me some budgeting spreadsheets! - I really like how they calculate a lot for you on the spot and can put up pie graphs and you can really dig into your finances and spending. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and chat with me. I wish you all the best and success in your saving. Cheers to you! 💛
My electric bill has doubled this year! It's crazy! And we aren't doing anything differently! As a matter of fact, we decided NOT to fill our pool this summer (it's a small one, but it still takes electricity to run the pump!)
Hi there 👋 I'm sorry, but I don't really have any kind of simple solution to this without knowing all the special things that make your finances unique to you. The best advice I can give you is to write everything down that's due every month. And then look at it week by week and pay what's due, then see what's left to start getting a feel for it. You basically just have to take that step and start, and it'll fall into place over time. 😊
Hi Amber! I loved watching your video - great information! I was wondering if you've ever been diagnosed with Raynaud’s Syndrome? I ask because I have it, and the color of your hands, especially your fingertips, reminded me of it. In my case, it affects more than just my fingertips. After years of dealing with it, my arthritis doctor finally diagnosed me, and I’m now on medication to help control it. There are different degrees of severity, and if you haven't heard of it, it's worth looking up. It often occurs alongside another immune disorder. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis, which I’ve been able to manage successfully with my doctor’s help. Wishing you the best of luck!
Hi there! I really appreciate the time you took to tell me about this. I looked briefly and I do have some of the other symptoms. I will definitely bring it up at my next dr appt. Thank you again for being so kind to take a moment. I hope you are able to manage your other symptoms. Be well and thank you again!
Hi there. First, you're not dumb. It can be a confusing process if you're new. But could you reword your question more specifically for me, and maybe I can help. 😊💛
My savings account is an offset account attached to the mortgage - so not only am I saving but the savings are reducing the interest on the mortgage and therefore the amount I need to pay each month.

You are very welcome! Thanks for watching! 💛
Love this video, I’ve been doing the cashless method for years. I seem to have more understanding and control of where my money is going.
I love hearing that! It's good to know it only gets better! Thank you for watching! 💛

Hi April, Great information.
Hihi! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!

My goodness ! Didn't even get to enjoy the pool 😔
I always love spending time with you
There she is! Hello friend! I hope all is well with you! Been thinking about you lately! I hope you are doing well. 💛
I also round my expenses up! It rather think I have less money than I actually do 😂
😆 exactly!
Thank you for this 💕
Thank you for hanging out with me 💛
I’m new to budgeting and know some people do the paycheck budget. How do you recommend I budget when I’m paid monthly and my husband is biweekly?

I feel dumb but how do you do the savings envelope part??
Hi there. First, you're not dumb. It can be a confusing process if you're new. But could you reword your question more specifically for me, and maybe I can help. 😊💛
Hello. New sub. TFS!
Welcome 🌞
Hello April. yes my electric has gone up.
I hope it was just the summer heat.. and we'll all see a reduction as we cool down.
My savings account is an offset account attached to the mortgage - so not only am I saving but the savings are reducing the interest on the mortgage and therefore the amount I need to pay each month.
Wow! I've never heard of that before. That is a really cool (and useful) concept!
Hi april! Karina here!
Hi Karina! How are you doing?
lol, I wish my electric bill was $200, mine was $703 last month. And I am the light Natzy in the house.
My goodness! 🫣
I use prop money to stuff my binders.
I will still use prop money for my savings challenges. I love prop money! I just get overwhelmed when I have a bunch of things to look after. 😅
Lefty here too
*awkward lefty high five* 😂
😊
🌷
❤❤
💛💛
I use my discover card for all my bills. Pull out cash when I get paid for my work lunches. When I get paid I pay off my discover every time.
That sounds like a really efficient method☺️
🤍
