The piano is on a backing track. They use the track to augment their sound on many songs. Its always just a filler and they don't hide the fact. I believe on this one Pauline plays the piano. Any back track heard is done by them, always their music. Gotta give the girls credit just to put a complete album together like this. Paulina said they worked really hard for months on it, and that comes through in the results. Also being totally independent its all theirs.

It’s part of the click track they use on almost all their live performances. There is nothing at all wrong with a click track as most bands use them these days. It’s a technology that keeps the band tight and in time with each other.

I like that Dany tries to show the emotion of the character throughout the entire album. On this song, notice how the last " let me be the one" is shouted out in frustrated rage.

I love how as the album progresses she portrays "Queen" as getting more manic as her psychosis takes hold. A very compelling vocal arrangement for sure...

@@MaddogJones The studio version of this song does not show that rage so much, though. But still, I love all of the girls and everything they do.

This song is where she starts to think of removing the competition for the love of her life. it's really the start of the slide into murder and madness. You have to love the way Dany really gets into character; that gets even better as the show goes on. But it's the changes in tempo and key changes that really make this song for me, plus the little surprises like the piano section.

Thanks for devoting the time necessary to listen to the album front to back. This song is the final one in which the character is acting somewhat rationally. From here on, you get to follow her into the descent towards madness, as her advances are rebuffed. Lets just say, that business picks up from this point on. 😀🤘🏻

Great and honest reaction again Paul. You are experiencing this album as we Kickstarter’s did when they released this album last year 2018. They released D2D and on their Patreon account they announced it and of course they were a bit nervous for the outcome sitting and awaiting the comments. They were overwhelmed by the positive reactions.
Then they released Chapter 1 and again they were a bit nervous as this first chapter breaks in style with most of what of what they have earlier released, still good reactions from Patreons and Kickstarters.
For me Ch2-3-4 is increasing the interest of this album. Hope you will continue throughout the entire album. Also note the sound. They have created their own sound. It is The Warning sound. I personally is very fond of Danys guitar sound. She master the pedal board with such an ease. And her going into the character more and more. In Stalker she is transformed fully, from there it is no stopping. I would say that out of 13 songs you still have 4-5 really golden pieces to listen to. Enjoy the ride as we eagerly awaiting your next reactions.

Great reaction and great comments. I definitely agree with your comment on the "Hook". These young ladies have become very good at grabbing you with a section of the lyric which is simple enough to catch on the first listen and sticks in your head and draws you back for a second listen. Thanks again for bringing The Warning" to your audience. I have subscribed and have been watching more and more of your reactions. Look forward to your critique of the rest of the QOTMS album.

On my first listen to this live, I'm not sure how much I liked it... But after many, many playthroughs, I think it's become my favourite live performance of theirs. Something about it just really sums up what TW are, as a whole, to me...

  • @jbartyparty7398

Dang son, good eye on spotting the Helix 6!! I would agree completely with you on their vocal choruses; very heady stuff for such a young and small group of only 3 voices. You will eventually have to check out some of their "deep" cuts from XXICB as they have some very creative vocal tracks using rounds and employing some beautiful harmonization. The harmonizing on QOTMS is quite nice as well, if not more subtle at various points depending on the part of the story and the "interactive dialogue" between characters or voices inside the head of the main protagonist.
Dammit, was going to try to keep this pithy. I just can't do it writing about TW! haha But very astute and spot on reaction. And I think you will begin to appreciate these earlier tracks even more as you delve into Chapters 2-4. It's about to explode with more intensity, dramatic vocals and sonic power. Lastly, are you being cheeky with these screen captures for your reaction videos? I'm thinking yes as you seem to be quite okay with poking a little fun at yourself. :-) Thanks again Paul!

@@CrowboroughGuitarTuition Haha mission accomplished! You're slaying it in that endeavor. For a little more insight into the use of keys in their tracks, check out my response to John F below. Haven't heard such good use of piano in rock compositions since Queen and Meat Loaf! I mean there are one off exceptions here and there, but usually they are glam metal or rock ballads of the 80's and early 90's. Synth in rock is fun, but just doesn't got the same soul! Oh yeah, how could I forget the legendary Mr. Seger on keys!

Yes it’s a Helix (I know what you mean about Orange amps, they’re not for everyone, but what is?) She May have tried a Kemper at some point but not sure). The keys are on the Mac by Pau’s drum kit. Wouldn’t mind hearing some opinions about Ale’s bass playing, I think She’s got a great left fretting 🤚...

Paul, you’ll eventually find that after repeated listenings some songs which you may initially thought of as ok will become your favourites, or at least just as good as the ones you initially liked. And those who say they have a favourite tend to have a different favourite from the last person! 😊

  • @Caddowolf

They play to a click track and the keys are on that track. You notice they never count off beginnings. They all hear the click track in their in ear monitors and are always in perfect time. I have never heard Ale make a mistake on bass or Paulina on drums. I don't know if you've reviewed "Survive" yet, but it's a good one. A little more "Pop" style, but it still rocks. These girls could be very big if they don't lose interest as many youngsters do. I'm a big fan. Very talented sisters.

Hi! Yes, it's, a backing track. I highly recommend to listen to her studio CD as well. I think, it's amazing and creative to see, how they try to bring their music to the stage, by finding the balance of staying as genuine as possible and not sacrificing too much of the original sound. Best example is how they handle the piano parts: On CD, all piano parts have been played by Paulina (drummer), who obviously can't do them on stage. So in "Stalker" Dany plays the piano. In "The End" Ale does. In "Ugh" they have changed the piano outro to a guitar outro. And in "The One" they use a backing track, as everything else was not possible. Who knows, maybe one day, they will have the money to hire a fourth musician for live shows, so they can get rid of the backing tracks. That would open the possibility of being more spontaneous on stage, but for now, they have to rely on the backing track, if they don't want to sacrifice too much of the studio sound.
And yes, that's a Helix. They don't have the money to bring their own equipment to the shows, so they rent the drumset and the amplifiers locally. So Dany's sound does no rely so much on the sound characteristics of the amps, but she used a wide variety of floor effects with a rather neutrally amp setting. (There is a great video on RUclips of her, explaining her old floorboard. That thing was HUGE! ). A few months ago, she got the Helix, which is much easier to handle during travels, as it is compact, fantastic sounding and very comfortable to program and use on stage. :-)

Oh, another thing: You mentioned, that would like to hear more acoustic songs by them, which is pretty easy actually. As they refuse to do lip-sycing in TV shows (they had a bad experience...), they always do little live acoustic sets, if the TV studio cannot provide an appropriate infrastructure for a "plugged" performance. There is a fantastic acoustic version of "Dust to Dust" on Patreon. I hope, they will release it for the public soon. It really shows their talents!

    As always, great reaction.
More profession than "I liked it, it was good" like other reactors.
    One little request:
When you will get to Dull Knives (song number 8), please don't react to the Lunario version like the whole album. React to the Hell and Heaven Festival show.
It's an amazing version and you will have the opportunity to see the band in front of a big audience on an outdoor stage.
    Thanks!

Howdy all... I had a thought and would like your opinion. during the brief piano parts, there is not a lot going UNDER the piano. It would be cool for Dani to continue with just the guitar BUT have Ale step up to the piano while still harnessing her bass and play the piano parts, then back to the bass. She has done this in the past an is talented enough to pull it off, your thoughts

I was quite busy at the time of my last comment but, like a child, I couldn't resist possibly being "The One" to tell him about the piano and the Helix. Like all such lunges at importance, while I was the first to convey the information, there really was no satisfaction, as the comment was no fun to write and no barn burner to read. Sorry, random thoughts on the "hobby"? of commenting.

Indeed, piano on track here, and I think they "rocked up" this track with less keyboards, or else they are less prominent in the 2nd half, compared to the album version. But on the very next track, they will be playing keys live. Can you guess who though? :-) You will want to get to the next one sooner than later. Think you will really like Stalker.
