You’d probably love their 2017 TEDx talk. They play 3 songs, and briefly go into the process of recording this album and about their general motivations as a band. It’s a fantastic snapshot of everything they were about at the time, and informs a lot of what they’re doing now.

They are also big fans of BAND-MAID and it is a mutual appreciation. The 2 bands actually met at a festival (Aftershock 2022) they were both playing at. There are rumours that they may do something together this year (either live shows in Mexico/Japan with the other band as co-headliner, or possibly a song together).

The Dakota Bar concert was the seminal performance for all the tracks from their first full length album XXI Century Blood. They played the entire album at this concert. Who does that? Their second album, Queen of the Murder Scene, which happens to be a concept album, was played in order in its entirety at Lunario CDMX. Their third album, Error, was played in its entirety at the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. All of these songs played live are on their RUclips channel with professional audio. Bottom line, there is no song in their catalog they haven't played live. Having said that, there is one that's sort of an outlier, the bonus track on the Error album. That one is special and has been played only once live. I'll save that story for another time. Just keep picking songs, there are no duds.

This concert is not well filmed, but the audio is professionally recorded. It's basically their whole first album. That album is PHENOMENAL for a first effort by a teen band. But it's also phenomenal, PERIOD. Don't miss the official music video of *21st Century Blood,* the title track of the album. It won some awards and was nominated for a lot more.

The song Black Holes performed at Dakota Bar is still one of my favorite performances DPA ever recorded and has caused many burly 50+ year olds in TWA (and one or two young fair-faced reactors) to squirt tears of melancholy joy. You should see that one. It features Pau on vocals and piano.
I dont think I'm alone in calling it one of their masterpieces.
    Really enjoying your journey.

This is the song that taught me Paulina is a true empathic emotive personality. She can get deep inside the head of some random character and live it out in song! She makes you BELIEVE she is that character. Her solo performance of RadioHead's *Creep* is a perfect example of that. Her performance of *23,* live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX, 08/29/2022, is another. *Show Me the Light,* from this same 2018 Dakota Bar show, is another. This BAND is special.

Red, thanks for another entertaining reaction to my favorite band, The Warning. I have no doubt, all 3 sisters have listened to a lot of music. I think they have elements of many genres of rock in their music and that is one of the big reasons I love them. I don't care for bands whose songs sound too similar. Red, great job educating and encouraging viewers how to support the artist, and I know you do so for each artist. Much love.

They have a lot of influences form the 70s, 80s, 90s and later, like Twisted Sister, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Queen, Foo Fighters, and Muse. But they also follow several contemporary Pop artists, K-Pop, and even Japanese Metal. For example, Band-maid and The Warning have a mutual admiration thing going on. They met at a festival where they were both performing and they had a fan moment, took pictures together, etc. They were into anime and comics as kids, were captivated by the video game Rock Band, which was the largest contributor to them deciding to play guitar, drums and bass. It was only after they were taking lessons on both piano and their other instruments that they realized they could form a band with what they were playing. Their parents are Rock music lovers, so early in their lives they watched video of classic Rock concerts even while they were being classically trained on piano. Pau showed incredible coordination in playing the drum pads for Rock Band. Dany was interested in the guitar. At first, Ale wanted to play the harp but took an interest in the bass guitar. But then Pau and Dany were already well into their lessons. But Ale learned quickly from her instructors and early on she mastered some complicated Jazz progression as well as Rock. She knows her scales forward and backward. And, oh yes, Ale had perfect pitch and is a human metronome - so much so that Pau references what she is doing to stay on timing during a song. So, basically they have complementary talents that they have honed into a cohesive skill set as a band.

Some questioned how just the three of them could make strong rock music without ‘special effects’. Small venues like this with the music raw and live show they are the real deal. There are The Warning songs where there are moments only Pau with drums and Ale with bass provide the music, as Dany is just singing and her guitar is silent. Still they sound full and complete! And when Dany starts with her guitar, blows the roof off the place!

There are earlier performances in small venues, parties, a performance outdoors at their school at Liceo (it’s a great concert!). What you’ll find is they were always writing and performing beyond their years. Shattered Heart (really their whole first album) is still relevant today. Their roots are classic rock and I think that helps their music remain timeless. That little dance is known as the Dany Dance! Great reaction!

They were 13, 16 and 18 here (I think), yeah they’ve got what it took already - in 2020 there’s their gig at the Whiskey a gogo, not an easy place to get to play at! The last song of a 2 hour performance was for the owner who was a big Metallica fan - they played Atlas Rise, Alejandra was totally worn out but they performed unbelievably good! It’s well worth a look see!
The Whiskey a gogo is also a small venue but very prestigious! The girls have many sources of influence, two of the biggest are Muse and Halestorm but they are not genre led, they also listen to KPop and JRock.

Really, really impressed with everything I've heard from them so far. I don't know who their influences are but I suspect they are many as there seems to be a lot of bits where I think ah that reminds me of.. or indeed who does that remind me of. lol For some reason early on in the song Thin Lizzy sprung to mind and I had the same Smashing Pumpkins thought too when they transitioned and also the bit after it at about 5:48 and there's definitely an 80's metal influence to their stuff I've heard so far as well. All in all a lot to love about them!

You certainly picked a gem and a fan favorite to react to here.
Ale once commented in a vlog that she thought the chorus of Shattered Heart didn’t make sense to her and that somehow manifested in the fanbase that she didn’t like the song.
During a private show in London to fulfill an obligation that the pandemic postponed, it was played and the band talked about Ale “hating” the song.
According to Ale she still doesn’t “love” the chorus but she understands it now and she’s never disliked the song but has others she likes more.
Of course Pau being the smart ass she is promptly commented to the effect that Ale hates the song, jokingly, mind you.
It’s my understanding that the Dakota Bar is no longer with us.

  • @Sly.L

They really are masters of songwriting and composing. They always change it up between the verses to keep us interested, they layer vocals and arrangements like I've never seen any other band do before; and they've been able to do that since the very start of their careers. It's really quite amazing. When I discovered them almost two years ago, I stayed up way, way too late on work nights because I couldn't stop myself from clicking on the next video. 5 days later I joined their Patreon, something I had never even considered doing before for any other band. The community is wonderful, DPA themselves are wonderful, and of course their music is wonderful. Discovering this band is one of the best things I ever did, it got me through a tough time in my life and continues to do so. I am definitely a fan for life!

TW are amazing live, I have seen them multiple times, and that regardless of their ages at any given time of the concert. The Dakota bar is a great concert to react to the songs from their 1st EP and 1st Album. I haven't heard a bad song from TW and their catolog is running up to +49 originals.

What bows my mind is these songs are all original music written and composed by three tee!have girls. I love the transitions in this song. They did a lot of that on their first album. Maybe not their best song, but the whole Dakota bar series is mostly from album number one. "Show me think light" has a beautiful guitar solo from Dany.

They have played small venues but they have also played pretty good sized places. From 2023 in the UK:
    @TheWarning EVOLVE | Milton Keynes 🇬🇧
    ruclips.net/video/ukdy0UCmV9A/видео.html
As for their musical influences it is very diverse but their family time when they were little was listening and watching DVD's of bands like Queen, AC/DC...
    From 2023 in Germany:
The Warning - Dany invited to sing “Pain Killer” with Three Days Grace (Rock am Ring Festival)
    ruclips.net/video/KeiQjJGXpIo/видео.html
Regardless of venue size they bring their A game.

Super talented Now I am old but the lead singer at times kinda has a little Lita Ford vibe in her vocal style to me anyway. All three girls are really good. Yes this is real rock in my opinion. Can't wait to see you headbang Red you do have hard rock and metal in the sweet country soul 💚💙💚💙🧡💛#TheWarning #redheadedneighbor

Yeah, this, all their covers, the 2017 Ted talk, the Lunario concert, the Teatro concert. There is so much material that you it will take you months to get through it. But don't worry, TWA will be there with you to comment.

This band is GREAT at transitions in songs. If you like that, check out the song "Crimson Queen" live at Lunario 2018. Lots of really cool transitions, and Dany embodies the main character. It's so good.

Black Holes, and River's Soul from this same concert are also well worth checking out. For Black Holes, Pau does lead vocals while playing the keyboard. Rivers souls is a good song, and has some interesting transitions/structure towards the end. They have varied influences, and have never been afraid to try something different.

They all attended the Berkley College of Music for a 6 week course in 2015. They had to get a special waiver because the minimum age to attend was 16 and at that time Dany was 15 Pau was 13 and Ale' was only 10. Their Mom had to walk with Ale' to all the classes and carry her bass because it was to big and heavy for Ale' to walk around campus with. They were given the money to attend from, Target and the Ellen Show. While in Boston they got to tour the Company that develops the video game Rock Band and got to play the prototype for Rock Band IV. The connection for that is that Dany and Pau first played the game while Ale' was still a toddler. You need to Watch the Ted Talks from 2016 and 2017. Both have 3 songs played in them and the girls will give you a lot of their back ground information in those videos. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

And now... My usual daily request: please please react to Ummet Ozcan with Otyken on the song Altay. Otyken is another girl band from Siberia that sing in their Tribal dialect that is currently only spoken by less than 200 people in the world. An excellent example of keeping their roots and culture alive through music

This is actually a favorite performance of mine, but you should check out Dany’s guitar solo at 2:45 into the song show me the light. It will blow you away as it is unlike anything else I have seen her play…👍🤘🏻

They were a kid band back 10 years ago or so and played at their school for the other students. Ale is amazing. She chose the bass guitar at about 7 yo and had mastered it sometime in her 8th year. There's a video of them playing Hysteria by Muse when she was 10. That song has a wicked bass line and Ale played it like she was part of Muse. Here's the link. ruclips.net/video/fU26wmlF3yg/видео.html

Love that you're diverse in your in your reactions. Overall I prefer the male voice. However I would like your reactions on older female voices (Linda ronstadt / patsy cline) or bring it on up to today with LeAnn Rimes and her tribute to Patsy Cline.
