Tim Conwaywas notorious for going off script and improvising. He loved making the others break character. You must check out The Elephant Skit. From the Carol Burnette Show. Tim thought he was in control the entire time until Vicky Lawrence turned the tides with one sentence.
I read somewhere that Tim Conway would do it the way it was written in rehearsal, then when they did the live show (yep, LIVE) he would change something in the skit to try to make the others break.
@primemover1416 exactly. The best blooper was with the elephant skit. They did an interview with Vicky Lawrence about that. Before they went on the producer told the cast " Just a heads up, the elephant story will be a little longer than planned " but never told them what Tim was about to do. So Vicky made them pay for it at the end. She literally got the last word. Lol
Yep, the siamese-elephant skit may be the funniest thing ever. Right up there with the exploding whale.

Both of those guys are legendary for their ability to control a situation and a joke. And they absolutely lost it. Of course that was the last thing anyone expected Vicky to say.

Ah, the legendary comedy skits from my childhood... granted, I was too young to fully appreciate them. Tim Conway really loved to make his friends break character and laugh out loud.
Lol, I remember growing up with this..."The Carol Burnett Show", with Harvey Corman, and Tim Conway... always making them try to break. Lol. Break character they did. Lol.
This is my all time favorite of Tim Conway. Even more so because my Mom was a dental assistant. How can you not laugh at these two.Tim Conway did a lot of off script stuff that would throw every body off. Which made it even funnier. Love watching you enjoy it as much as I did. Sure brought back a lot of memories.

Time Conway was the master of getting the rest of the cast to break character. As soon as he saw the slightest crack in the armor he would just keep piling it on. True comedy legend!

These old comedy acts never get old! And they didn't have to get raunchy or use foul language to make them funny! I've seen some of the Tim Conway skits well over 100 times each, and I immediately had to the bathroom before I watch them! Because I'll end up wetting myself if I don't! 😂 But I never skip watching them!
In The Oldest Man Wardrobe Manager skit Tim has Harvey laughing so hard that he can't even say his lines. 😂🤣
Tim Conway was an amazing physical comic, as was Carol Burnette. Harvey Korman often played the straight man, and Vicky Lawrence, the new kid, added her energy as well. They were a great troupe who played so well together.
This is one of the funniest skits. I grew up watching the Carol Burnett show. Tim Conway was my favorite. He would change & improvise the skits & get everyone to crack up. They did the show live, so whatever direction Tim would take it, they had to just go along with it & hope for the best. Poor Harvey Korman is completely losing it. The elephant skit is also very funny.
You always forget just how good those two were and every time you see the skits they make you laugh just as hard as you did the first time.

I believe this was the first skit that Harvey and Tim did together. Tim was great at going off script and cracking everyone up. And yes, Harvey admitted that he did pee a bit during this.

Tim Conway's mission in life was to get his cast mates to crack up. He was very good at it and Harvey Korman was his main victim. The Elephant Story is a can't-miss comedy classic!
The elephant story is one of the best skits that was done on TV live. Be careful or you'll pee your pants watching it. Another great bit is Bill Cosby doing the dentist visit skit. It's so true! yet hysterical!
Tim Conway would have everyone on the set breaking up. Don't think there will be another like him.
😂 That was great! I think sketches like that are timeless. I'd never seen that before or heard of him. Great idea to mix it up every now and then. I think you'd love The Two Ronnies, they had a Saturday night show here in the 70's and 80' with sketches and songs, often with clever word play in them, one of which was voted the best sketch of all time here, called Four Candles. Another that might be good to do would be Peter Kay song lyrics, combining music and comedy as he tells you what he thought they sang instead of the actual lyrics, really funny. Then of course there's the legendary Who's on First sketch of Abbot and Costello

These two, Tim Conway and Harver Korman, did a lot of skits together. There's one where Korman is being expelled from the Foreign Legion. Conway, playing the officer, isn't even in frame before Korman starts to break.
Korman teamed up with another comedy legend, Mel Brooks, in Blazing Saddles, History of the World Part 1, and Dracula: Dead and Loving it. Conway has a series of short videos plaing Dorf. Titled things like Dorf on Golf, Dorf on Racing, and so forth.
Korman, Conway and Brooks would have possibly created a comedy rip in space time and killed us all with laughter.

Tim Conway could break anyone. He was an absolute MASTER of timing. He knew just how long to push a joke... holding and holding until dropping the next part.The man had an incredible gift. And it was always such simple things too... he turned them into riotously funny situations that just escalated into insanity.
Hee Haw! Wow! We watched all the same shows! LOL Carol Burnett, Hee Haw, and Shock Theatre, (Chattanooga TN movie show) was our Saturday nights.

The elephant story is classic also tim plays the old in the clock repairman, Harvey's doctor and Harvey's wardobe assistant (Harvey totally loses it) there is a running gag on koala in the sketches a must watch if you need to laugh

The show had 2 showings every episode. One for a studio audience and another with a live audience that was broadcast live on TV. Tim would change things that he was saying between the shows and his fellow cast members had no idea!! That is why they were always cracking up!!!

Tim Conway was notorious for improving scenes. Tim goes thru rehearsals as normal, but then he changes the scene like this one. Harvey Korman aka patient stated that he peed little in his pants after laughing so much from Tim's actions.

This was based on a real story.Tim Conway was in the military.On his base he went to see a dentist.The needle went through Tim's cheek & into the dentist's thumb. Tim got the sound effects crewman to make the sound of a fly buzzing

You should do more comedy. This is from The Carol Burnette show, a classic. You can clearly hear Carol laughing the loudest in the background as they all watch this skit. Tim Conway (the dentist) was a regular on the show and often improvised, so nobody knew what was going to happen. There's an outtakes video on You Tube of that also, it's funnier than the skit that actually aired, if that was possible. Apparently they went thorugh a few tries before they could all get through it without laughing, he kept changing the story on each take, making it up as he went. Tim Conway had a seriously warped comedic mind.

As a builder now of more than 45 years, my first job has always been my favorite. I got to take part in the interior demolition of Carol Burnett's Malibu beach house back in the late 70's. Never met her but kept seeing her mail on the kitchen counter. It was cool anyways

Great reaction, Red! Tim Conway (the Dentist) was a comic genius. On the Carol Burnett show, he was known to go off script and try to get his co-workers to break character. During rehearsal, he would do the performance as written. Then. during the actual live performances, his co-workers never know what to expect. This skit was a perfect example. BTW, the video you showed was incomplete. There was a couple of minutes at the beginning that would have explained the scene better. There are several excellent Carol Burnett skits that I think you would enjoy. The Elephant Story is a good one.
