This is one of the funniest skits. I grew up watching the Carol Burnett show. Tim Conway was my favorite. He would change & improvise the skits & get everyone to crack up. Poor Harvey Korman is completely losing it.
Tim was famous for changing the skit without telling anyone. That's probably why Harvey is laughing so much.

I guess from an interview with Carol she said Tim would read through the scripts as they were written but come to shooting the scene he'd throw in all kinds of improvs, especially at Harvey's expense. He wanted to see how long it took to crack Harvey up. Tim was a comic genius like that.

The Carol Burnett show was the first Saturday night live. LOL It was just a bunch of silly, unrelated sketches. They has their cast 'regulars' like Tim Conway (the dentist), Harvey Korman (the patient), Vicki Lawrence (Mama) & Lyle Waggoner. One of my favorite sketches is the one about Scarlet O'Hara & 'Tara', from the movie 'Gone with the wind'. If you are familiar with the movie, you will find it hilarious. Scarlet makes a dress from the fabric from curtains in the movie. Carol has her own version. LOL
On the video about the elephant story, Tim Conway did one story on the first performance, then he changed it for the second performance. He was always trying to crack up the cast; a lot of his stuff was improvised.
I wish there were more shows like this on TV now...❤❤❤...love it❤❤❤

Try (Any) one of the "Tudball and Wiggins" sketches... Tim (Mr Tudball) is hilarious as always... Carol (Mrs Wiggins) is his secretary... Carol Burnett's wardrobe in this character is actually part of Mrs Wiggins' charm, due to it's "limitations"...
Went With The Wind is another great one. Tim Conway rehearsed the scenes as they was written, but went off script and cracked up the rest of the cast. The World's Worst Costume Change is funny too.
Now you've done it, AB. This isn't a rabbit hole. This is a very deep diamond mine. Harvey Korman, (patient), was a multi-talented performer but best known for his time on "The Carol Burnett Show". Tim Conway, (dentist), was a master of physical comedy. He made several movies, many with Don Knotts, (Barney Fife of the "Andy Griffith Show"). Tim and Harvey had an on-going contest of who would break the other first. It was said they agreed on $50 to the winner. Tim said Harvey put 3 of his kids thru school.
Carol Burnett is a national treasure and still with us. You can find many of her shows on YT. Separately, Tim and Harvey were great. Together they were comedic gold.
After Carol Burnett, Tim created a character named "Dorf". Most of these are on YT also. You should check out "Dorf on Golf", "Dorf on Basketball", "Dorf on Horse Racing", et.al.
Rumor is Harvey Korman was laughing so hard, he peed on himself. 😂

I remember when i was little and dad would be home and watch it. He would laugh so hard he would have to leave the room for a few minuets to catch his breath. Only happened on this show.

Tim Conway would Read and Practice the Lines as normal during Practice and Dress Rehearsal, Then during the Taping Performance (in front of a live audience) he would ad-lib extra stuff to try and get the other actors to break character.......

This show was so great. Being live means you need to be ready for anything! Carol was doing a sketch with a live horse...she was singing, and the audience started losing their minds. So Carol turned around and the horse was going to the bathroom, she lost it too. 😆

The Elephant Story takes down more cast members, literally. There's 2 parts to it: dress rehearsal and then live show, both with variations. I put it ahead of The Dentist
You gotta watch the " elephant story" from the show Mama's Family Show. It has Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Harvey Corman, And Vicki Lawrence. There is also the bloopers of filming it which shows them trying not to crack up! You will laugh for sure!

Tim Conway was a GENIUS. He would rehearse a scene as written. Then, when it came time to do it for the live show, he would improvise the whole thing. No one ever knew what he was going to do.
Those sketches are amazing. I haven’t seen this is decades and I was crying. All their stuff is great.

The Carol Burnett Show was genius. Pure comedy at its best. There is a skit, not sure if the entire one is here on RUclips, but it's a takeoff of "Gone with the Wind", where Carol portrays Scarlet O'Hara, and has a dress made from the curtains.
I loved this show. It was filmed live, so when they started laughing there were no retakes. Their laughter actually made us all laugh harder.

Doesn't matter how many times I've seen this, still just as funny. One of the less well-known skits is 'No Frills Airline.' One of my faves.
All of these skits were ad lib's by the great TIM CONWAY. The master of impromptu comedy. Watch his old man skits as well. The Carol Burnett show was so far ahead of it's time!!! Tim Conway as always making Harvey Korman the "straight" to guy in all of the shows. Even Carol could not keep from laughing at the things that Tim would say and do.
One of the funniest skits of all times! But you have to react to the "Undercover Cops" skits, it is hilarious! Tim Conway does everything he can to make Harvey Korman lose his composure, and is very successful at it!

The thing is, the cast would rehearse and Tim would do it NY the book. Then during the show he would go off script and improvise. No one knew just exactly what Tim would do......but he would crack them up. This was on live tv.
