Won a Rotopax 2 gallon fuel can along with some other goodies at the 2019 Easter Jeep Safari drawing. Super excited to try it out. Thanks for the review Brothers. Also met Brad and Marco at the meet and great they did. Good time! God Bless Brothers!
First off, love the video. This is my thought/question. How do the Rotopax mounts match up to the side support areas, the ones with the hole cut in the middle. I wonder, could you mount your Rotopax mount to those, creating essentially four mounts (possibly) on the sides of that rack and then leaving space in the rack for other gear. This may be a dumb question since I am new to the JK and mods but it is hard to tell from a video. Please let me know your thoughts guys. I am building my jeep to be a command/recovery/aid vehicle for the hard core hunts my friends and I do in Montana, Utah, and Texas. Thanks in advance.
Great video. You said you used it in the Mojave Desert. Any problems with heat in bright sun with the can lying flat on the roof rack? I have a black vehicle and I'd like to mount the my Rotopax in the same spot. Thx.
Please advise feedback as to how the Rotopax held its liquid when mounted horizontally. I'm exploring a similar mounting solution but am concerned about how liquid tight the spout area will be as the Rotopax is exposed desert sun. The red container is going to heat up quite a bit in the sun and that gas is going to expand. It woulld be nice if Rotopax produced a container whose spout was engineered to be mounted horizontally/
You just saved me over $50 with this video. Now I see I do NOT need the big mounting plate. The deluxe mount and the "ducting wire is more than enough.
Hi !, quick question, if install and put gas container on top car, will it be hazard driving with hot temperature ? let say driving 5-8hrs under hot summer?
Im still not sure i want to buy this fuel tank.....the cost is high, yes but what really has me not sure is a handful of bad amazon reviews say that they leak, one guy said that his tanks leak from the seam after about 2 years of daily use......anyone have this and keep it full, any leaks? thx
Great video guys, thanks for sharing! TrailRecon, You've been using this awhile now I assume, have you had any trouble with the Rotopax leaking? I'm trying to decide if I want to mount mine on the roof rack or somewhere else.
I've got the 4 gallon gas can. Have noticed swelling of the gas container particularly in the heat of the desert or the altitude of the mountains. I have to keep cracking the cap to bleed off the vapors. The pressure is a concern. Do they make a vented gas cap or a smaller bleed valve to vent this off? how concerned should I be? the tank swells up and is hard to remove???
my 2X 2gal setup has travelled a LOT. One started leaking, but it's just the cap and o-ring causing problems--still need to replace. I kept running with the single can and goin on ~ 4yrs now. Definitely seeing some swelling, but no leak, and works fine.
I just bought the 2 gallon model today and I'll be mounting it horizontally on the back of my RZR. I'm taking a chance because I've read quite a few reviews about how easily these things leak. Not good when you've got gas and a hot engine nearby. I used to just bungie a 2½ gallon jug on the back of the RZR but I never quite trusted the setup. Hopefully the Rotopax I bought is not one of the leaky ones - :(
I have to cross over the Sierras to get to my wheeling spots, and make a point of not putting gas in them until I am at my chosen elevation or they will leak all over my vehicle. A 10,000ft change distorts these massively, so I make a point of stopping halfway up and halfway down to unmount my pax and burp them. There's no ideal system when you are changing elevation, and this one is not perfect either. Be aware.
Dang... I thought I was clicking on one of Brads videos!!! Just kidding. It's just that Dale is a bad influence. Too many of his videos, and I'm doing a never ending 2.5-4.0 swap... Had to buy another Jeep to drive! ;-)
60 bucks Plus $40 for the mount? The metal nato style 20l cans go for $20... and mounts online for $20-$30 plus that thing will be pink after some years in the sun
A true pleasure working on this collaboration video with you!
+TrailRecon Yeah, Thanks again. Looking forward to our next project!
This feels like a lost episode of TrailRecon lol. Great video and review!

Nice collaboration. Good info. Thanks again
+3hdninja Thx Ninja man!
Worked great, thanks!
Good stuff Brad!
Thank you!
Can you use the deluxe mount to secure traction boards?

Great! Glad it helped ya out.

Have you noticed if these rotopax cans swell at all with the heat? Or is their construction durable enough to handle that?
Never had any trouble with mine but make sure you buy Rotopax not the weaker fuelpax made by the same company!
great video, thank you!
+Clarke Woodfin Thanks for watching!

I really like the self-venting tube. That right there might sell me on this!
+wegngis Yeah, nice feature
I hate those, hard to fill because of the angle that you need to hold it at.

He's been very happy with it. No leaks!
Hey bud, what type of roof rack did you install in your Jeep. I like it!
looks like the smittybuilt defender...if you're still wondering

@Blue Savage any update??
All gas cans will swell in the heat, shouldn’t be an issue as long as the plastic can hold up.

how satisfied are you with your horizontal Rotopax mount ... was liquid tight?
@@j.larrylivengood9755 I actually ended up mounting it on the side of the 'roll cage' with the mouth on top. So far, so good.
Make sure to replace the filler neck and add a vent kit
