50% indigo, 25% henna, 25% Amla and 1 tsp aloe powder gives me a deep, rich brown and covers my gray really well. I left the mud on for 3 hours. This will be my go-to recipe moving forward.
I used 75% Indigo, 25% Henna, and dry roasted the Alma power. I added aloe vera powder and Alma oil for moisture. I will try leaving it in for 4 hours. I also use a black tea tonic instead of water with the henna mixture.
One suggestion....if you want darker color from henna...soak henna + alma + hibiscus powder( since henna is drying) overnight in a iron vessel(this is a must) and you don't have to do the indigo thing at all...hair looks darkbrown...also hibiscus is very slimy in nature so henna will stick better to hair Even when you kept the henna for 4 hrs the color payoff wasn't great so just try the iron bowl method and you can thank me later!

I was about to go back to chemical dye! Thank you SO MUCH for your videos & info, it was just what I needed. Went back to my formula, adjusted and now have a BEAUTIFUL & natural looking medium brown! My current formula: 100gm cassia 25gm Amla 12gm Henna 48gm indigo + pinch of salt Dye release henna/cassia/amla overnight. Indigo + salt, mix all and apply right away, cover with plastic, 4 hours. ta-da! Beautiful natural color! One step almost 100% grey coverage, not red, but a beautiful brown. Also I test on harvested hair from my brush and only do my roots when testing out new formulas. Grey coverage tips! I'm 30% gray, must must must get my hair super clean, clarifying shampoo 2x, + salt + a bit of dish soap. Also ditching, (sadly), my natural shampoo & conditioner made with oils, was stripping the indigo out leaving henna behind. Thanks again Rose for all your info!
I also needed to do the 2nd step with indigo. I was hoping one step would work by itself. This is the first time I am coloring my hair with Ayurvedic herbs. So maybe next time the one step will work.
Use iron vessel and soak it in tea water .... And just roast amla powder before thats what i actually doing for my husband white hairs thats amazing and i also add 1 egg yolk results are awsum very natural. Soft silky shiny
Henna color lab has nice blends. I use ginger blonde for natural wheat highlights on my grey . I use to only used 10 percent indigo 40 percent henna and alma 50
Please tell me which colour you get on grays with this ratio of indigo, amla and henna? Some pure brown, or more reddish? I want to get pure medium brown on my grays, without any reddish or orange tone.
Very nice video and beautiful colour of your hair. My natural hair colour is black and I have a lot of gray almost 50/50 from the front almost 80 % grey hair. I dye my hair dark brown because I don’t like black so what % should I mix for dark brown colour on my greys please answer thanks
Thank you, Tracy! The red and burgundy tones I get from the henna. The indigo supposed to balance out the color and give you less red tones when you mix it with henna so you can have brown colors. I think because I have been using henna for a long time now I have a lot of color built up over time. Also I always mix indigo with henna I never do all indigo because I don’t want to get very dark colors, if you do henna in the first step and do all indigo in the second step you can get a black color.
Do you think added ingredients to henna like herbs powder, tea particularly and other ingredients would hinder the effect of indigo mixed the next day.
Hello, Rose! There are several different options for combining ingredients for hair coloring on your channel. I have a question, what is the best combination to dye my natural color chocolate brown for painting over gray hair, but without red or cherry shades? Thanks in advance for your reply!
I've been trying to cover my grey hair for last years too and I think the one step process will never work for us. Indigo need the red tone to fix and when whe mix it with henna in one process, indigo doesen't work at all. We will ended up with red tones. If we look a brown hair without a hint of red, we must to do the two steps...
After applying heena ,how come your hair are so soft ,managable ? Mine just dry out . Do you apply conditionar or something else? If you do ,when do you apply ?
Yes, I have done that before like in this video I shared a henna recipe for deep conditioning hair mask amd natural brown color and I only used coffee to mix it. ruclips.net/video/WCw-Xf8-HvI/видео.html
Hi, Rose! Lovely channel and helpful tips. It would be nice if you share with us your oil treatment! I would love to try it after two weeks of dyeing my hair with henna (I use henna+ amla, as a first step, and then I apply a mix of henna, indigo, cassia, etc.) . Many thanks :)
Thank YOU for watching! I’m actually excited to try the cassia because I never had before. My oil treatment is usually very simple I use any natural oil I have or a mix of oils. My favorite is olive oil and castor oil.

I am going to use henna first time. Is it ok to do one step process with indigo? Or do I have to do henna one day and indigo another day since this is my first time
Sorry , but what are indigo and amla ? In Morocco, we do use henna but we use olive oil in it, egg , some pure bee honey if you want and we mix with water in which we boiled tea , origano, garlic and pomegranates peel and lavender in it , some people use more or less ingredients
These are plant leaves(Indigo) and fruit (Amla), if you apply Indigo the next day of applying henna, your hair will get jet black colour. These are widely available in India.
I am using soapnut (shikakai) shampoo which makes my hair dark reddish brown but it is not covering my grey hairs. It is my first time planning to use henna & indigo dye. If i only want to cover the grey hair on the roots, do i still have to dye my whole head so that there wont be different colors on my head?
No, you don’t have to do your entire hair if you make a mix of 50% henna, and 50% indigo that should give you reddish brown color that should match the rest of your hair.

No, I have done it before immediately after I wash out the henna, like in this video ruclips.net/video/133TqqQ7NF0/видео.html So you can do the second step immediately after you wash out the first step or you can wait a couple days even.
Sometimes your gray just can’t be colored in one step. I did 50/50 henna/indigo then after washing it out I did indigo by itself. Turned my hair black. I had quite a bit of grey too.
