Bad Prebuild Gaming PC Checklist:
-one ram stick
-cheap ass mainboard
-blower style cooler because....reasons
-trash cpu cooler
-nice and fancy case with rgb
-some more rgb...
-noname psu
Not to mention the trash mouse and keyboard!!
A blower style card is probably better here, even if they run hotter, because they exhaust hot air instead of circulating it round the case, stopping the cpu getting even hotter
This but the case would be complete trash too with flashy exterior

When I worked at Best Buy I learned that none of the Geek Squad agents who knew what they were doing, ever built their PCs at Best Buy & none of the other agents had even built a PC before.
I found buying a prebuilt PC a valuable experience. I knew nothing at the time of how to put the parts together. Once the PC starting failing in certain areas I was desperate and opened it up to see what was going on and using Reddit as a troubleshoot. It allowed me to familiarize myself with a typical build and understand why my pc was being bottle necked. So yes pre builds are expensive BUT they can provide a difficult wake up call to learning your components fast.
What if I want an actual functioning pc, I mean for 1500 I just want to play sons of the forest and minecraft. Wouldn't a 1500 dollar pc work for a simple gamer?
@@cameronjordan1516 Yes, and no. Watch this video and note, it does not allow you to run it at max settings, middling settings, at best, unless you play older games that do not tax it much, but for that kind of computer, 500-600, tops. There was a time when a halfway decent budget build PC from the likes of Gateway, eMachines could be had for around that. Mind you, they won't be the most powerful and were halfway decent, as long as you expect much from them. The one I helped my mother buy in 2005 No it didn't have a decicated graphics slot (AGP), and the integrated graphics was stuck at 16MB and it had 512MB of RAM, running a Celeron D processor. board was from Intel and research revealed it to be rather robust for what it was, so not a gaming PC per se, it was more than adequate for basic computing. If you got the 600 dollar version, it was AMD and had the AGP slot populated with the slot itself. The placement was there, but not the slot itself on the 2 lesser models. Mom's was the mid tier model.
Or you could do your research beforehand and either make an informed decision when buying a pre-built, getting one built to order or just building your own.
You should see how many times you can mock Alienware before they abduct you or you're probed lol. Possibly by Anna for your excessive pre built habit.
Alienware Aurora, at this time of year, at this time of day localized entirely within your office?
Hahaha!! I would love to go on one of their ships. 😂
ASUS seems to have fixed some of the issues with this model. I saw one of these recently for sale and a few of the improvements were: 1. It now has a 92mm tower air cooler on a Ryzen 5800X 2. Great Wall 80+ Gold 700w PSU 2. Still a rather low-end ASUS B550 ATX motherboard but it now at least has a heat sink on the VRM. 3. The RAM is dual channel XPG 2x16GB 3200mhz with heat spreaders on the ram. 4. The GPU is now a RTX 3070 with dual fans.
it really depresses me thinking that someone will buy this and could have got sooooo much better for $1500

They are on sale now. Probably around 1300 in USD. With the current situation of gpu stocks, this is worth it if you ask me.
I just ordered mine and I could not wait.
I mean:
-Works perfectly out of the box (this is a major problem for many prebuilts)
-Minimal bloatware
-Hardware clocked correctly in the BIOS (again, another MAJOR problem for prebuilts)
-Actually very respectable storage specs
-Great CPU and GPU pairing
-Good looking aesthetics
-Gaming performance blows the previous gen consoles out of the water, and is pretty on par with what the new consoles are more than likely going to provide for the first few years.
To be perfectly honest, this is probably the only prebuilt of this price point I'd ever recommend to someone who INSISTS on getting a prebuilt gaming PC. All the flaws, especially the RAM, are very fixable (with the exception of the industry standard iffy power supply). This seems like a perfectly good starter rig to someone who wants to put a foot in the door to PC building but is still too scared to put the components together themselves. Later upgrading that cooler and adding more CPU fans seems like it'll be a great and low-stress opportunity to learn PC building in steps before they're comfortable putting a whole PC together.
Just the fact that, out of the box, you actually get all the performance you paid for without having to call into tech support or access the BIOS is a huge plus for me. I think you're being a little harsh on it considering the industry standard of prebuilts.
@@powerfitz_ With the state of graphics card prices right now, its definitely worth it. I got one with a 3070, and after a hundred bucks worth of upgrades (which yes, I shouldnt have to do) to the cooler and fans, probably run like a dream.
@@powerfitz_ You can uninstall McAfee lol
I got the I7 version of this PC for about $1200 recently. I did do some upgrades, which while I agree you shouldn't HAVE to do, it's just gonna be something you're going to have to learn eventually, especially if you want to maintain your PC.
$20 of upgrades with probably the cheapest fans on Amazon and I was able to get this thing to keep a cpu and GPU under 70°c even with the stock heatsink while running God of War on ultra settings. The stock exhaust fan is trash tho so I'm currently replacing it with a Noctua.
Overall I love my version of this PC. I think the guy just loves talking trash
4 months later, with the RTX 3XXX series launch fiasco, crippling silicon wafer shortage, and rampant price gouging worse than ever, and the fact that a brand new RTX 2070 super can fetch prices as high as 1,000-1,200USD in and of itself, this prebuiltmight be a scam, but it's literally better than the scam of buying all these components separately, so I actually gifted one of these to my father for his birthday.

Most motherboard still have PS/2 ports. My MSI B450 Tomahawk has one, which is really nice since I have an old keyboard as well as my main gaming keyboard
Ps/2 inputs are still valued especially by overclockers. This is because if USB controller is too cold it's unusable
@@bitelaserkhalif Really??? I did not know that, nor would I have ever assumed such a thing if for some reason my system couldn't use them at boot and the environment was very cold. Tech be crazy
Alot of good high end motherboards still incude at least one PS/2 port and I stil use that for my keyboard (Steelseries 7G or my lovely old AST without icky windows keys). Also PS/2 is a better keyboard input but in reality you probably won't notice. :)
Actually one of the reasons I did not end up with the 570 motherboard I had planned for my Ryzen build is that it lacked a PS/2 port. Gigabyte drooped PS/2 on all but their crap 570 boards, MSi, ASUS and Asrock still had it on most of theirs.

If you’re Canadian, Canada Computers is honestly a really good place to buy pre builts.
Thanks!
lol did you not watch the video?
Word, best place to get pre builds. I honestly wouldn’t go to any of those places like “Best Buy” because they’re just money hungry people that think putting a good graphics card with only one stick of 8gb ram is a pro gamer move. Which is sad because you will always see people buying pre builds from those better known companies.
Life hack #1: don't buy pre-builts. Even if you're very unsure if your pc will actually run, just buy the same components as in the pre builts.
edit: literally the first pc came up as prebuilt (1200€) had these components in it: (most prices are taken straight from major sellers such as mindfactory and amazon
-be quiet! Systempower B9 600w :56,80€
-Asus Prime B450M-A: 77,99€
-AMD Ryzen 5 3500x: 174,90€
-16gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz: 76,71€
-RTX3070 (unsure if founders edition): 8Gb 499€ or 399€
this would add up to 951,22€. With the cheapest solutions Windows 10 64bit Professional CD 34,61€, M2 Samsung Evo 860 500gb 67,99 = 1053,82. Homebuilt is therefore cheaper by almost 150€. This might seem little, but you could upgrade your pc by adding some better component. You could easily add a Ryzen 7 3800x (308€) and still have air upwards (12€) which you could still invest in better ram on sale, maybe score 3200mhz ram. What's even worse, is that the upgrade options on the pre-built sellers side, are even worse. You can pick a ASUS Strix X570F gaming (+211,90€) instead of ASUS Prime B450M-A (77,90€) = 289,89€ for a mainboard which you otherwise would get on the official ASUS site for 253,90€ = 35,99€ difference. This isn't much in perspective, but these differences add up, resulting in a sum which you could use to beef up your pc by some good extend.
Let me remind you this is a mid-tier pre-built. Imagine high-end pcs, which cheat you for multiple 100€ more. The discount on pre-builts because the sellers buy the components en masse is a myth. Especially because GPUs and CPU tend have low stock now.
@@andresvalverde5182 Well yeah, of course building your own is cheaper. No one’s ever denied that but what I’m saying is if you don’t enjoy putting something together yourself (nothing wrong with that), Canada Computer’s is a good place to get someone else to do it for you with good parts. They gotta make money on the pre built, right? They’re not gonna sell it at cost. If you take apart their pre builts, it’s also wired super nicely so that’s a plus.

I bought this as a first gaming computer. I looked around tried to see what I wanted and then priced out what the parts would have cost me if I built it with similar specs. finding a 2070s and a ryzen 7 was about $1300. I swear I saw this in my local bestbuy very recently and I was kind of shocked. All the prebuilds include the stock cooler for ryzen and this one in particular is quite egregious.
This is exactly why I dont buy prebuilt systems. The only parts I can see that are worth the cost: are the 3700x and the 2070 super. Unfortunately its not a dual or triple fan design. And the poor CPU is probably going to cook under that anaemic looking cooler.
That 20% gaming performance increase was not because it was dual channel but because the ram was RGB
"Naughty, very very Naughty" I loved this part and hope they watch the reviews. It seems to be too common to take advantage of people's lack of knowledge all in the name of profits. I love that someone is trying to keep these companies in check. They are not motivated to sell you a good pc for your needs, they are motivated to just take your money while exploiting that need. This behavior is so common place in companies I often ask myself what is pushing the trend of give them as little as you can get away with and make the most you can get away with. I always thought they wanted customers to return, not make them feel fooled.
Love your channel, to be fair this pre-built was not that bad, the system ran pretty good and there are worse, way worse out there!

Picked up a CyberpowerPC pre-built at Best Buy this past December when it went on sale. Came with a full-size MSI Pro Z690-A WiFi motherboard, 16GB dual-channel 3200MHz RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, RTX 3070 (blower style, but it does help keep the inside of the case nice and cool), Core i7-1200KF, 800W (non-modular but still good) PSU, five PWM fans with ARGB, and an AIO cooler with a 240mm radiator and ARGB pump cover. The motherboard, GPU, memory, storage, and cooler would have cost at least as much as I paid for the whole system, and its case and other bits and bobs were also pretty darned decent. Granted, I ultimately swapped the guts over to a Fractal Design North case, but it still came in cheaper than I could've built my own system from the ground up.
All that's to say there are some decent pre-builts out there if you're willing to go with lesser-known brands, especially when they get steeply discounted during the holidays as retailers are also trying to offload the year-old systems to make way for the new stuff.

Honestly I love Dawids videos, and the jokes and just that trademark style he has in all of his videos, I see he hasn't changed much from these to current haha.
I saved my money for this pc and i got to say it’s running like a champ. First I wasent to happy about the single ram stick but it does the job and il upgrade it later on. For the cooling it was not that bad i was getting around 50-70 deggre celcuis cpu and gpu. Not the worst I’ve seen!i can perfectly run any game atleast at 70-80 frames.
I got this pc too but I have one with core i7 11th gen, 4 ram slots and 2 8GB ram sticks and a cooler that yields a faster rpm. Wonder why it varies from this one here...
Keep an eye on that it seems like this might be your first PC with some power too it and realistically 70 c is already on the high side . It'll be fine so long as you get some air duster and clear it out once a month or so . But like every PC the thermals naturally get worse overtime once the thermal compounds start breaking down and the fans get weaker . Just keep an eye on it , 80c is where you'll potentially start noticing damage and that's no good
i got a diffrent one with a better cooler and an rtx 3060 phenoix (i think)
plus i was rong on that 70 deggres its more 60 deggres

Dawid, you do such a wonderful job on your videos. Your scripting, editing, and camera work are simply wonderful. I hope you are proud of your work, because it speaks volumes about your character

Love your content and the amount of detail you put into the experience for your viewers. You're extremely amusing and your analogies are always on point. I was wondering if you could review the Lenovo 90NC00JBUS, its a relatively starter gaming computer but given how difficult 1660 super graphics cards are to get at face value buying this desktop for $700 seemed a good deal at the time.
This video is outdated now as some of the issues have been addressed but some persist. I just bought the G15CE from BB for $2199 CAD with 11700f, B560 MB, single 16gb ram with 4 slots available, m.2 1tb ssd, a 3070 and 750w gold psu so all pretty good hardware. Problem is still cooling though. At idle cpu is 55c but just scrolling your page it goes to 70c. I mean one 92mm exhaust fan and a stock cooler in this tiny box with these hot components? There just isn't enough cooling for the cpu so new exhaust fans plus AIO here I come. Still cheaper than building your own right now as the gpu costs almost the price of the whole rig. Insane really. I tried Canada Computers to build one as I previously did in 2013 (yes, my 4 corei5 lasted until now but is running at 90-100% with RDR2 and Wildlands but stays around 40c with the evo212 on it while the 1660ti just sits there idling, lol. It'll be a good surfer and backup if this one goes south) and found out it costs more to build from scratch with lower component level without an OS which is included with the G15CE. The market is a joke right now so it's the best option for someone who can install their own upgrades. Only concern is warranty and access/availability of adding extra ssd and fans to the mobo. Calling people losers because they don't have your knowledge is slightly lame unless you're trying to be funny. I'm a chef and certainly wouldn't call you a loser because you don't know what a mornay sauce is. People trust an expert in the field (like Asus) to give them value for their money. It's just a shame the world is greedy and self-aggrandizing. Good video though. Thanks!
What cpu cooler did you use? I’ve been seeking to get one
@@justlore3520 Noctua NH-U9S. Easy to install, works very well, and is not too expensive. PC runs 30 degrees cooler and is way quieter. I also replaced the rear exhaust with a Noctua NF-A9 PWM 92 mm.

@@justlore3520 I actually put two sticks of Patriot 16gb for a total of 32gb. Probably not necessary but I'm covered if needed and these things will not get cheaper.

Is this a co-incidence or is the video's length exactly 15:00 mins to represent the system's cost($1500)?

The motherboard would stop me from buying it. Ram and Power supply can always be swapped easily.
I love everything else about the system.
I'm meeting a guy on Monday who is selling me the case from this system for $40. In the box with all the protective cellophane still on it. A pretty sweet deal in which to build my little brother's graduation present, eh?
I'll just say, for the price and what's included, it would be more than enough for me. If I just upgraded ram and cooling, it would probably handle all my projects fine. Light gaming, programming, some 3D modeling, emulation, VM/remote desktop/vpn, etc.
For 1500 i bought an insane ryzen 7 3800x rtx 3060 pc with lian li custom rgb cables and crazy stuff for the same price. And trust me this pc doesn't only do "light gaming" for 1500 you should be able to playe every game

@@bletrick3352 why on earth would u by a Lenovo pre built
So for anyone who has bought or is planning to buy this pc this holiday season, let me give you some non bias advice/opinions from someone who purchased it, and at the end I'll list the upgrades I made to make it much better. (LONG POST) Performance is solid, all the ASUS Strix don't come with the exact same specs, but for instance I got mine with a Ryzen 5600X and a RTX3060($1400 CAD) which seems to be the low end for this prebuilt and even that is more than enough for gaming.
My big complaints in order are 1. The case 2. The ram 3. The stock cpu cooler. So for the case, its pretty horrible there's no way around it. It's small, limiting the upgrades you have available. It only comes with 1(!!!) 92mm case fan mount spot, and the stock case fan is e-waste garbage. That is inexcusable from a company like ROG, they know better. At minimum you want one case fan as an intake in the front, and one exhaust in the back. As for the ram, pretty simple really. I got 1 single 16gb ram stick, however it was ddr4 3200mhz so that's cool. What isn't cool is that 1x16gb ram stick will preform substantially worse than 2x8gb ram sticks running in dual channel and they cost almost the same. Finally the cpu cooler: it's loud and inefficient. You'll be okay with older games and low graphics on newer titles, but you may throttle on newer games at ultra.
So for anyone still reading, all hope on this prebuild is not lost.
Here are the simple upgrades I made, keep in mind this is my first PC so if I could do it then so can anyone reading this. I replaced the stock case fan with a Noctua NF-A9 PMW 92mm fan. I also added another identical fan to the bottom front of the case, just hand screwed it into the vent holes and it went in easy and is secure(you will need your own screws), both fans come with a cable splitter so no need to buy your own. So now I've got my intake+exhaust. Ram was easy, replaced the single 16gb stick with 2x8 Crucial Ballistix RGB 3600mhz. The CPU cooler upgrade was the hardest part, but really that isn't saying much. Replaced it with a Noctua NH-U9S with a 92mm fan(exact same fan as I used for the case fans). It has the ability to mount 2 fans, so if you want to buy a 3rd Noctua NF-19 PMW case fan you can beef it up even more since they're interchangeable. This is the biggest air cooler you will be able to fit inside this case, if you go any bigger the glass panel will not fit back on.
All in all, upgrades were under $200CAD and my performance has increased 20-30%, CPU temps have dropped 20c both idle and under load. Idle around 30c, never go past 65c while gaming. I know, it sucks to have to do all this work after you've spent so much on a PC, but with the gpu market the way it is right now this is really the only option for normal people. Plus, I did all the work figuring it out already so all you good people can just copy. Keep in mind, every part I used was as big as this case can handle. If you go bigger, things will not fit. All of these parts were ordered off Amazon.
Thanks, il be sure to get the nh u9s, thanks for the tips!
i used to swear off prebuilts but buying a 3070 itself is as much as a prebuilt with it.

So no question the #1 problem is the cooler, it sounds like fan boat when I was playing warzone. So I added a Noctua NH-L12S cooler for $55 and a $15 be quiet fan in the back it's now silent and stays very cool. When I bought my pre built it already had 2 16 gbs of ram too. I highly recommend putting the cooler and ram in it and you will be pleased for sure.
I appreciate the review it made it easy for me to fix. Oh! last edit my mother board was different I have 4 slots for memory too.
which fan did you swap out for the back? When i turn it on the back starts then stops, and works when it wants.

So I got this pc except it is an intel i711700 with 16gb dual channel ram and an rtx 3070 for $1600. I know the case and cooling is shit but I just bought it to have an out of the box pc I can mine with. It also has a full hash rate card. I’m just planning on mining with it as is for a year until the warranty runs out and then transplant the components to a different case. Just to get a 3070 will cost me at least $1k so I didn’t think this was bad. Mining the temps don’t get too hot. I just run a fan blowing on the top of the case to extract heat.
Are there any prebuilds that you recommend? Would be good to see a video of which ones are considered good!
I recommend a ASUS ROG pre-built with dual channel memory, A dell XPS pre-built (comes with dual channel out of the box)
