so what's your favorite speaker type?
i keep coming back to greenbacks for general tones, but for really heavy stuff, really enjoying the results i'm getting with v30s and other speaker types

Probably my favourite ML SL IRs. Zilla for the win. Good video!

ah thanks a lot 🙏 kudos also on your videos, been watching them for a while, really love the brutal tones you've coaxed out of a lot of gear/plugins i've never heard of, some of them free to boot
the greenback IRs here still get me everytime, sort of my go to at the moment for i guess more classic tones, the brutal stuff is still blend central

@@paulbradshawguitar Ah thanks Paul! I'm stuck on my own IRs most of the time but I enjoy 'sampling the ales' so to speak.

@@resington sampling the ales is a good way of putting it 😄 in that case i should be in rehab

My absolutely favorite ir's. Mix them with some of John Browne ir's. Best sound I've ever created. Ml rules.

@@mexicanpunches6077 the Green90 is still a mainstay for me, their more recent Damon 60s are in my main preset with my band Drogher, sounds killer

@paulbradshawguitar Oh yes, the ML Damon's are so good. Have mixed the Damon's and Djent 30's in Nolly x and get the sounds I've ever searched for. Really obsessed.

I was skeptical at first. But I got the Mick77 and I’m obsessed

@@ChrisAdkins1985 awesome, there's not too many cab packs out there of that speaker either, it's got a particular character to it, i guess somewhat like k100 speakers with something else going on, very cool

The Green 90 is really nice. While I mostly lean towards v30s, that one really stood out to me. Also, there was a topic on the Fractal forum about a free pack called God's Cab by wilkinsonaudio. That's like 700 IRs (Mesa OS) for free and they're quite good. If you're in the market for yet another mesa IR, it's worth looking into since they cost nothing. Very nice intro, btw.

ah cool, thanks for the heads up i'll check that out
and thanks for the words on the intro 🙏 the greenbacks were also a standout for me for my usual sorts of tones

I got all 3 of them. First, I had a Phase issue with blending them with other irs or cab sims, so I tried just blending only the reflex Irs. Since then, man I got a project file that has like 6 new song ideas with some of the best sounding guitars I have ever mixed... I was doing quad tracking but with these things I only do a stereo 2 guitar method and it is HUGE somehow... They blend perfect with the Bass set up I'm using... Just EZ Bass and or my own Fender P Bass I own. It's pretty cool how far technology has come to make a speaker IR that you can EQ just about however you need for the mix man. Plus how all the other stuff sounds so real.. This Bass rig is awesome too! I'm a one man deal HAHAHA so I do the drums too with Krimh drums Sounds like an advertisement HAHAH It all sounds like a full band!!!

@@JamesJones-th3ml ah sick, glad to hear it, if something inspires you that's the main thing
totally agree on tech advances, the results you can get these days with drum and bass plugins with not much extra processing is absolutely nuts, the track i made here was just GGD drums with eurobass and then guitar on top, instantly rewarding

@@paulbradshawguitar Got into the Local Metal Scene back in 1998. Played live for 15 years. I did lead guitar and the last 5 years was lead vocals too. We tried to demo our own stuff. It wasn't bad but it's nothing like it is now. I still have the Facebook page up for Shattered Darkness that's us hahaha. We didn't have you tube to learn anything so it was all trial and error and looking for advise where we could find it. I had a nice rig back then BUT Now I use a Hughes and Kettner GM 40 for guitar tone. It's way too loud for an apartment so I started using the direct out with the redbox thing built into the amp. Sounds awesome really with the reflex IRs. You tube was new so we did use it for videos that my Bass player made for us. But that's about it. All this stuff was brand new back then.

@@JamesJones-th3ml i can imagine, i still remember the recording of my then band's first demo on a tascam 4 track almost 25 years ago, with maybe 3 random microphones if that, was all just a big experiment, but the result was actually ok,
the quality of what you can do these days is incredible, not to mention how much easier and somewhat affordable it all is
having the internet/youtube and all that information out there makes a huge difference too
