    I appreciate you describing what you’re hearing. A lot of times you just say that sounded great or something to that effect. For those of us who don’t have your ear I find it helps to define what we’re hearing. That said I always take others opinions with a grain of salt and realize this is like fine wine. You either like it or you don’t.

    The Creamback M (65 watts) has been my go-to lately, juicy with a bit of presence rolled off. Those looking to not change quite as much from the V30 may like the Creamback H.
    I wish, wish, WISH the Lynchback was still made!!!

    I don't use IRs but it's still the reason why i keep my old straight non-Pro Engl 4x12 which is sitting unused in my living room. It has these V60 speakers which i played a lot when i was younger and couldn't afford V30s. But now it's my only 12" cab with something different than V30, i want to mix them with some of the V30s in my other cabs when i got time for that.
    Well, and i'm also keeping it because i need it when i want to show off with an all Engl fullstack.

    Amazing video as usual Jon!! 🎉 V30s deserve their spot in the guitar speaker hall of fame (it's a real thing trust me!) but I find it strange that while guitarists want to try out so many different amps they're scared to try other speakers which ultimately will make a much bigger difference in tone.

    My favorite combo and a Redback and Creamback 75 in a 212. I just recently got the Creamback and the best combo with it so far. The Redback is my favorite speakers I’ve had and I’ve had quite a few different speakers. Definitely don’t care for v30s much by themselves but ok with a Creamback 65 or Greenback

  • @Zordid0
    @Zordid0 15 дней назад +2

    To be honest. I have been all over the place with IR's, and I have recently come back to v30's. I spent like a year with an EVH IR. V30's just work in the mix. They do not sound pretty by themselves, but in a mix is a different thing, which to me is where it matters the most. I truly tried to distance myself from v30's as EVERYONE uses them but I guess there is a good reason for it, oh well.

    Mojotone BV-30V - Great and a few bucks cheaper. My favorite combo is Vintage 30 (top - you MUST break these in) and Creamback 75 (bottom) 2x12 closed cabinet. It's very versatile. When I want to record cleans I personally mic up the Creamback and when I want rock tones I mic up both and mix to my liking in the box.

    I have really been into the green and creamback speakers. But hearing this, I might have a go at the lynchback... I have a mix currently going on where I am fighting that high end fizz, so that might just do the trick!

  • @SenseiKreese
    @SenseiKreese 14 дней назад

    The thing I love about the V30 that nothing else I've heard does, is it gives you a kind of warmer tone with the highs and bite of high gain being subdued and kept in check. Every other speaker I've ever heard has so much more bite that doesn't suit what I do so much. If you were trying to sound super brutal, then more bite could suit you, but I do a funk metal hybrid and it's just not that kind of super brutal metal.

    I was once a V30-only guy, but ive latelly tried a bunch of speakers and some i actually prefer to the V30, honorable mentions go to the Eminence Governor, Celestion M65 Creamback and EVM12L, the V30 is the sm57 of speakers, good, safe and industry standard but there's always something out there that might suit your ears better if you can/want to put the effort and actually try different things.

    The different characteristics of the different speakers may be better/more suitable depending on context and taste,
    HOWEVER, I don't think they'll match the greatness of the V30.

    I absolutely love the Lynchback. It’s a go to of mine. I use the Ownhammer Rockbox Lynchback IR all the time. As far as v30s go, I really really like the 8ohm Mesa boogie version the best. It really smooths out some of those harsh frequencies that people complain about with the typical v30 but still retains what makes it great and work well in a mix. It just works so well in most situations or song mixes.

    First things first. You have to verify that the v30 IR sounds identical to the actual v30 cab.
    We heard digital simulations of various speakers. We have NO IDEA how close they sound to the actual thing. We need at least one of them to be compared to an actual cab for frame of reference.
    The video is otherwise pointless and just serves it's various commercial purposes.
