    Good stuff Mark! I have yet to find a video that is not informative and interesting. Each time I watch your work I will watch it twice, then look at what I am doing as I prepare mine.

    • @MarksShrimpTanks

      I think lights the one we all take for granted but its the most important one on a few different levels.
      Take Algae as an example Ive seen studies that suggest Shrimps diet is made up of 70% of the stuff ..No light no photosynthesis no Algae no Shrimp . if you go to an even deeper level that would also include no us.

    • @royalcitizen6101
      @royalcitizen6101 7 лет назад

      Awesome thanks Mark, on your large setup, could you tell me how many watts of light do you have per litre, and how long you leave them on over a 24hr period. Thanks

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  7 лет назад +2

      Top tank is 180liters and its has 60watt of LEDs,middle tank is 150 liters and it also has 60 watts of light over it .
      whats interesting is the smaller tank will requiring more light because the substrate is black ..black absorbs light .

    hi Mark, very nice vids all the time. Can you give a comment on filtration for the best water? How many time should the tank be cycled per hour. Mine filtration is for 50 to 150 liter per hour and my tank is 100 liter. Some say you should minimal have a filtration of 5 times the tank. What is your advise? thanks!

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  7 лет назад

      I havnt used that way of thinking about turn over in a long long time ,what matters to me is contact surface area for bacteria to grow and water flow over it .in a shrimp tank it is going to be a gentle flow .

    Hi Mark, Great video ! Sorry for asking as i have seen a video where you described the plant toers but i cant find it doh. So for the towers at at back (i cant think of what else to call them) the plant is Subwassertang ? And i recall you attatched it to a rope. For the rope is it tied off at the top of the aquarium and then weighted down at the bottom ? OR OR do you want to make a video ha ha h. Tanks again for the video very good

    are there any other type of leafs you can use for shrimp

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  7 лет назад +1

      Loads of them ,the important thing is they are dry when you collect them so that all the sap has left the leaves,I also soak my dried leaves in water for 24hr just to make sure they are ok ,I mostely use Banana/indian almond/apple tree leave/alder tree leaves,oak ,burch. ect

    I can breed amano shrimp with another type of shrimps in the same tank?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  7 лет назад

      Amano shrimp are a specialized shrimp to breed ,the young require special food and saltwater.

    What are your water parameters? Or do you have a video talking about your parameters?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  4 года назад +1

      Hello Praise, for this tank it will be roughly a ph of 6, gh of 6 , kh of 0, temp is around 24c and I do 10% water changes a week, I also use reverse osmosis water to 130 ppm :)

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  7 лет назад

      Yeah ,alot of the time food will fall to far down in the substrate for the Shrimp to reach after time it can become a breeding ground for bad bacteria .I have been meaning to do a video on it for months .

    @6:17 When you say streams in Hong Kong, what you really mean is Taiwan, amirite? Not a lot of streams nor detritus in said streams if they're in Hong Kong.

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  6 лет назад

      There are videos here on youtube of people collecting shrimp from streams outside of HongKong with sand as a base layer.

      You're right. Had no idea. To be honest, I didn't know there was much to Hong Kong other than the city itself - seems they've got quite a bit of nature and parks down there. I guess you learn something new every day, especially on this channel :) Thanks for all the hours of entertainment and all the tips/tricks (about to go Nettle/Dandelyon picking btw).

    What do you feed the shrimp?

      Alot of different stuff ,I personally like a balanced diet for them so one day they might have just spinach and the next it might be something that contains fish meal or krill meal.
