- Today was a crazy busy day! Follow along in my entrepreneurial journey. Today we are shipping nearly 70 packages, heading to a storage unit to gather items to sell on facebook and ebay, I demonstrate how I prep items by emailing myself amazon links so that i can create listings even faster and I even manage to squeeze in time to get my annual haircut!

As someone who ships highly meltable products, I only ship Monday -Wednesday so they do not spend a weekend in a hot mail truck. Ice packs are not a bad idea but they tend to increase the shipping costs. 3M makes a thermal shield wrap that some say helps.

My suggestion is to put the ice pack in the Mylar bag. Because it’s so thick if it’s inside the wrapped in paper it will hold the cold closer to the chocolate in a smaller area.

Not kidding, generally think you should have signed off by saying 'GOODBYE CAMERA' (like your son did). Was adorable.
It looks like something called 'Corrugated insulated box liners 'resist external changes in temperature'. You'd have to use them AND ice packs though so it might end up pricey. Or you could use Aluminum Foil Insulated Food Storage Liners.
I ordered some stuff. The toffee peanuts and carnival cashews were great. The peanut butter combo stuff did melt

If you need icepacks then you need to insulate the box they go in or the cold air will be lost and they won't stay cold as long. Also don't sit them directly on food packs. They can cause sweating in the packs and cause the food to mold.
Lindey, where did you get your cold packs? I have a few candles that I am gonna use those with.
Being in Florida, I would personally stay away from meltable items.
Just driving a mile (10 minutes) from the purchase point, chocolate is almost liquid. A/C doesn't help much.
We often carry a cooler with ice to mitigate the heat.
I think this would apply to most areas in the Summer.
Flea markets and fairs could create similar environments.
I would try to place displays into some high traffic stores.
Independent convenience stores are very open to revenue sharing.
After closing our brick and mortar, we made deals with around 30 local convenience stores. We did pretty good in most.
I bought from her and had a mix with M&Ms in it. It was perfectly fine because the outer shell prevented it from melting. I live in Florida
I have one deal to put products in a little co-op shop already but still need to prep and stock the location. I need to figure out a system for stocking because I feel spread pretty thin with the liquidation AND nut business simultaneously working... especially now with summer being here! I definitely plan to be in multiple locations by the time the holiday season approaches!

From your location to FL, it worked great! Since it is now June and will get hella hotter, a bigger ice pack would be better. By the way, People living in apartments, I hope your mail person is nice enough to read what it says on the box and bring it to you.

I ordered some stuff but I did purposefully avoid anything that could melt seeing as I live in the HOT HOT HEAT of Texas. Just means I have new things to try when winter finally comes. how much is the storage unit per month? it sucks when you have to think about that bill cutting into your profits.
$180 per month and it does suck to cut into profits - however it does save me a lot of headache stressing over keeping my page flush with merchandise. I am still trying to find a rhythm with sourcing again and building a new business so it's nice to have a honey hole to pull merchandise from without stressing about sourcing at the moment. $180 is well worth that to me!
