I can’t get over how AMAZING literally every video you put out is. SUCH good writing, audio, & camera work. Even down to the manicured hands, haha. Can’t help but learn something every time - absolutely love it.
Beautiful watches. Chopard is in a league of its own. Maybe they're happy to keep the L.U.C line exclusive. Maybe they don't feel the need to "mass market" it. If they want to make more money, they shud go all aggressive like Rolex. By far Rolex has the best marketing in the world. No one does it like Rolex. Formula 1, Tennis, Golf, Equestrian, u name it. Chopard has been into motorsport a bit. But that equates to just scratching the surface. Another brand that is under-appreciated or is not well known is Glashutte Original. They make phenomenal timepieces. But no one knows about them, outside of horological circles.
Great presentation, and in full agreement that a more robust marketing campaign would be in order. A ton of press goes to the ladies happy diamonds...which obviously makes a great deal of money. Perhaps they can redirect some of Chopards war chest to highlight and main stream this outstanding series of time pieces.
LUC makes absolutely beautiful watches in many aspects. They are top notch design, finished to the highest standards and what is probably the most important for me - possess complications that are not necessarily found among competition. My favorite time peace is LUC Regulator, 8 days power reserve + dual time + date + regulator layout + COSC certified in 10mm thick case! Brand deserves much more recognition and exposure which I hope happens with the time.
This video is spot on. I first came across an LU Chopard watch in a shop window in Baden Baden. LUC XPS 1860. It was so beautiful it stopped me dead in my tracks as I admired it for a few minutes. But the name “ L U Chopard” threw me off. Was this a ‘sub-brand’? Cheaper? The quality of the watch though seemed really high, even from a glance. I kept comparing it to the happy diamonds watch I’d had experience with. Indeed... LUC has been obscured “behind a curtain of happy diamonds” exactly as u said! Fantastic video once again!
Great video yet again. Btw, if I'm not mistaken the dial on the 96 came out of the same factory that produced Dufour's simplicity dial? I can appreciate Chopard's design, a UNIQUE balance of sporty and dressiness, but I'm hesitant to say it's a good balance. However, there's just so many imperfections under the loupe. Casework, for example, there's still unpolished raw cutting marks left behind on the lugs. Same with the hands - even if it's a superior design, and I'm not saying it is, I can't stand how the cut marks just trails off into randomness. I'd rather see a perfect execution of a simpler design, like that japanese brand that's been gaining more and more recognition. And some of the colored elements are not painted perfectly? Movement side...anglage are not very well cut, and not well polished, brushing looks hand finished but somehow looks coarse...I could go on.
I've known Chopard for a long time but i always wonder why within one brand they use the LUC. Well, now i know but it is strange that the brand isn't able to tell me. I think that if you work for a firm like Chopard people learn about the heritage and history, they only seem to forget to communicate what they are. And most of all, what is a 'normal' Chopard and what does the LUC means. This is a great brand with a lot going for them but please Chopard tell your story, it is worth it and it deserves it.
Some of the finest things in life are really only for those prepared to discover them. They are not for the likes of Thomas ,Richard and Harold. Chopard LUC Management know not every manufacturer can survive on one or two overpriced models for decades on end. Ultimately the proof is in the pudding and as with UN ,GP,JLC and Breguet for example you are either in the know or you are not. This generally separates the wheat from the chaff. A little snobbish to be sure but there are substantial amounts of people who dislike forking out only to find out they are walking around with a target on their back.
ahhhhhhh so good!!! thanks for filling my request to showcase some LUCs. Great awesome video. The hands of the LUC are really beautiful. Such elegantly and well made watches. They're slowly giving rise to the hardcore watchmaking name. Give it 10-15 more years!
"What we've got here is failure to communicate" - Guns N' Roses's opening lyrics in Civil War. This video channel is always as poetic as it does on every review. Nice, nice!
The line "What we've got here is a failure to communicate" is actually an iconic line from the movie Cool Hand Luke (hence the title of this video). But you are correct, that line is repeated by Axl Rose in Civil War. If you have not seen the movie, you should check it out, it is pretty good.
I honestly hate this channel because it makes me want to drain my checking account on a watch. But really I love this channel so please keep making great videos
Love the moon phase variant. Chopard may fail similarly as ML and Grand Seiko. Just too much brand variant and price range for a high end collector to buy into.
I wish the micro rotor were also used on more budget offerings. It would be great to have an unobstructed look at all of the movement through the caseback, yet not give up the convenience of automatic winding. I realize that in this particular movement it is possible due to the solid gold rotor, which is denser than steel, but aren't there other, cheaper alternatives that would also be denser than steel, yet still usable in a watch movement? Anyways, a top-notch presentation for a beautiful timepiece. Thanks!
you can find the Chopard LUC Sport for under 3k :) 38mm wide, under 10mm thick (iirc it's a bit under 9?), it has a display back and 1.96's "little" 4.96 brother (it's essentially the same movement sans the gold rotor, breguet overcoil, swan neck, and geneva grade finishing... i.e it just looks a little less nice. still gorgeous, particularly at that price). it's also in the LUC Pro One (which i have. and it can also be found for a similar price) and Pro One GMT, though no display back :(
Dear Watchfinder & Co., as usual, your reviews are always the best. Have you done one on the Glashutte Original range? I can't seem to find any and I'm intrigued if their watches are worth it since some models are sitting between the Rolex price bracket. Thanks and keep up the excellent work.
Wait, wait a minute !! was that a Guns'N'Roses " Civil war " reference at 5:33 ? LOL " What we've got here is..failure to communicate " If it was intentional kudos to you my man !
This is desperate marketing, Breitling and Bentley for example. LUC are doing just fine. Because of the Internet and the awareness of the brand it helps to raise they will quietly prosper and become one of the secret whispers on the lips of those in the know.
Chopard is still independent. That is part of their appeal and why they are a bit smaller than other brands part of conglomerates. The other big indies are Rolex and Patek and Chopard is definitely in their shadow.
So I'm searching a watch up to 30'000 Swiss-Franks, I had a look at probably every watch-brand you know. Chopard wasn't one of them. Until I saw an airport addvertisement, I had a look and found my dream L.U.C Lunar Big Date Rose Gold Chopard watch...
Nice quality watches, but I'd rather spend the same amount for a second hand Patek or Vacheron than a brand that is relatively unknown outside the watch community.
Has this L.U.C. movement been serviced? At 03:28 one can see a piece of lint fiber on the mainspring jewel at the top right. Also, the gold lettering of the word "THREE" has dirt in it...finishing flaws?
Simon Jones, thanks for the link! The video supports what I was trying to say - The Nomos movement gears do show some rough edges compared to the JLC at the level of magnification. While the Nomos finishing is totally justified given its price point, the JLC is hand finished to an extent, and hence far more expensive. The LUC of the current video also has a lot of hand finishing compared to the standard Chopard, and should have a top notch finish (which is also why it cost so much more than the latter) - Unfortunately, the lint on the ruby bearing and the dirt in the guilded lettering do not seem to support this!
Calvin thomas you’re welcome Calvin - it’s that star that’s not filled in that irritate me. Really though you’d never see any of that with the naked eye.
I think Chopard is fine being a jewelry company first, then a movement maker, and finally a watch brand. As a watch lover, I'd rather wear someone who makes watches and only watches. Also, Would you guys please review the new IWC PORTUGIESER PERPETUAL CALENDAR PLATINUM IW50340?
While the level of decoration is decent and various methods are employed, the overall finish is similar to that of a $300 Orient or Seiko i.e. abysmal for this price. Rolex and Omega do it slightly better albeit with less decoration. I noticed that nearly every "scene" reveals at least a finishing flaw. If your eye is sharp enough and you've seen high end movements, this is obviously not quite in those leagues. Having said that, LUC are very nice watches still because we don't all buy watches just for the finishings.
As much as I enjoy every single one of these videos, I'm looking forward most for a review of the Singer Reimagined Track 1. Is it gonna happen at all?
To answer your question about what I would do to "get the word out" ...If I was in charge of marketing at Chopard I would contact a watch oriented channel on youtube, match like this one, with 91K subscribers, and most of them, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say ...watch enthusiasts..? Pay them money to promote my brand and give an impression of how truly underappreciated it is. Then just sit back and watch the money roll in....
Can you guys please do a review about the Chopard Mille Miglia GT XL Power Reserve. I’m about to purchase this as my first automatic top brand watch. I want to know what you think about that model? Thanks in advance.
ETA movement up to 2014 But still handsomely finished by LUC.In-house movement from 2015. A little more refined finish on the movement as to be expected but harder to come by used. A great watch as a keeper and every day wear especially if you plan on aiming higher up in the brand later on in life. You can’t go wrong with LUC. I am torn between them and Ulysse Nardin.
Like JLC,Ulysse Nardin, Girard Perregaux and perhaps Breguet to mention a handful,Chopard LUC Is for discerning clientele not so much customers. You want Recognisable Status and acceptance you get yourself a Rolex, an Audemars Piguet ,an Omega,a Patek and so on. But if quietly you don’t give a damn you continue wearing your hat fashioned from a brown paper bag and smile quietly to yourself knowing a would be robber will have to expose himself too far up the food chain to move your time piece on for a pretty penny.
Nice watch but I will give it a miss purely on price point, I rather focus on JLC which is every bit haute horology and reasonably priced in the secondary market. Fantastic production as always.
JLC, UN, GP, LUC, let’s face it there are more germs we could mention and I won’t lie I’ll pay a little more here and there to own at least one from each of them. The ROI I gained from possessing even half decent time pieces way out exceeds the near nil ROI of women in any one lifetime.
LUC like UN,GP,JLC to mention a few are not for everyone. They clearly do not desire common popularity. Once you discover them you realise you don’t need to prove you can afford to purchase something that everybody knows. You sleep quietly into a VIP Appreciation category while still maintaining a Joe average demeanour with your feet firmly planted on the ground having other more important things to direct your funds into while occasionally buying yourself a treat at down-to-earth prices.
I think they can make a lot more return on invest with happy diamonds... just a quarz steel watch with some tiny little diamonds but a biiig price!! So investment on working hours i pretty damn low compared to a true watch like the l.u.c Just my oppinion...
We know you want more watches…. click here: linktr.ee/watchfinder
Chopard is really underrated and deserve more attention for the incredible pieces they offer, and Great video as usual keep up the great work!
Thanks!
I can’t get over how AMAZING literally every video you put out is. SUCH good writing, audio, & camera work. Even down to the manicured hands, haha. Can’t help but learn something every time - absolutely love it.
Very much appreciated, thank you for watching.
Excited every time I see a new video posted by Watchfinders
Appreciated!
I seriously agree
The Philippe Dufour Duality is eerily like the classic small seconds. I had to do a double take when you showed it.
You're not wrong there!
Beautiful watches. Chopard is in a league of its own. Maybe they're happy to keep the L.U.C line exclusive. Maybe they don't feel the need to "mass market" it. Marketing budget is most likely the only thing standing in Chopard's way!
Great presentation, and in full agreement that a more robust marketing campaign would be in order. A ton of press goes to the ladies happy diamonds...which obviously makes a great deal of money. Perhaps they can redirect some of Chopards war chest to highlight and main stream this outstanding series of time pieces.
I bought a second hand Twist LUC and the movement is awesome, even the dial I started to like as it’s really special - not boring.
LUC makes absolutely beautiful watches in many aspects. They are top notch design, finished to the highest standards and what is probably the most important for me - possess complications that are not necessarily found among competition. Agreed!
Please do a video on Ulysse Nardin
Agreed!
the quality of the video is so nice but could you please keep the moment of machine longer, I love to see the movements longer !
Love the “cool hand Luke” reference.
I really like the font that Chopard uses. It looks handwritten.
My No1 fave watch is the L U C pro one GMT.
That is a dive watch in a league of its own

eins mont blanc
I asked the same in last video :(

That is a beautiful watch! Absolutely love the detail on the dial! Thank you for introducing me to the brand!
Thanks for watching!
Love the bold applied numerals on the L.U.C.
0:51 thats one beautiful watch
There's something weird going on with the video at around 3:12 - look just under the "22K" on the rotor
The stabilisation algorithm threw a wobbly and we didn't have time to fix it!
ahhhhhhh so good!!! thanks for filling my request to showcase some LUCs. Great awesome video. The hands of the LUC are really beautiful. Such elegantly and well made watches. They're slowly giving rise to the hardcore watchmaking name. Give it 10-15 more years!

Thanks for watching! We did this comparison which you may enjoy: ruclips.net/video/is1ss3M-3RU/видео.html
I don't think much of the leap Year hand tip..... would drive me up the wall. Is it by design?
Intriguing. Thanks for the video!
Love your videos your presentation on watches are always entertaining. Might you do one video review of the Tudor pelagos?
Thank you. That will come at some point soon, yes!
Longines heritage 1973 with white dial and black subdials
I learn so much from Watchfinders videos great channel 👍
Wait, wait a minute !! was that a Guns'N'Roses " Civil war " reference at 5:33 ? LOL
" What we've got here is..failure to communicate "
If it was intentional kudos to you my man !
Yeah I knew it was from the movie but didn't made the connection with the title ! LOL now that you pointed it oud, it all makes sense :D
I love your channel!! Please review the Lange 1 in rose gold!!
Incorporate their watches (L.U.C) in high end cars as IWC does (S 63 AMG)...that 22k white gold rotor is gorgeous..gr8 vid..
This is desperate marketing, Breitling and Bentley for example. LUC are doing just fine. Because of the Internet and the awareness of the brand it helps to raise they will quietly prosper and become one of the secret whispers on the lips of those in the know.
Great insight into another lesser known. One you may wish to give us your opinion on is Breguet XXI vs. Dodane 23.
Please review the Alpine Eagle too.
Beautiful watch. I love the raised thick roman numerals.
What a stunning watch. Love at 1st sight.
Chopard is still independent. That is part of their appeal and why they are a bit smaller than other brands part of conglomerates. The other big indies are Rolex and Patek and Chopard is definitely in their shadow.
It's a brand I know little about, which in itself tells a story - but absolutely adore the look of the perpetual twin
You should review Parmigiani Fleurier and DeWitt.
Beautiful watches especially the perpetual calendar...!!!
Maybe their marketing is not as slick and organised as some other brands.Really beautiful and refined pieces.
I expect you're right.
What song is used in the video?
A couple of ‘under the radar’ brands I like are Chronoswiss and Kobold.
Absolutely stunning pieces, wipes the floor with Rolex or the like. I wouldn’t do anything, to protect their uniqueness.
Precisely old chap.
What do you think about Chopard sport 2000 (4.96)?
Has this L.U.C. movement been serviced? At 03:28 one can see a piece of lint fiber on the mainspring jewel at the top right. Also, the gold lettering of the word "THREE" has dirt in it...finishing flaws?
Calvin thomas go back and look at their vid about shooting in macro - it’s good for thought.
Simon Jones I couldn't find the link. Can you post it here? But then again this is an L.U.C. whose finishing should be of the highest level...
Calvin thomas here you go ruclips.net/video/jK0v7Zm5uaY/видео.html
Simon Jones, thanks for the link! The video supports what I was trying to say - The Nomos movement gears do show some rough edges compared to the JLC at the level of magnification. I love those watches and have 2 already, good value for money in the second market. Exceptional..-
Stunning but too understated, a bit like Mont Blanc
I think Chopard is fine being a jewelry company first, then a movement maker, and finally a watch brand. As a watch lover, I'd rather wear someone who makes watches and only watches. Also, Would you guys please review the new IWC PORTUGIESER PERPETUAL CALENDAR PLATINUM IW50340?

Very good presentation.
Thanks :-)
whats the name of this music?
Very good brand and the value second hand is right up there
It certainly is!
Where do you get all of these amazing watches from?
Watchfinder.co.uk!
Watchfinder & Co. Haha nice
Wow, these are both stunning.
superb, thanks you
Awesome watches from Chopard
How to get the word out for LUC? More videos like this!!!! Keep it up!!
Awesome job!
As much as I enjoy every single one of these videos, I'm looking forward most for a review of the Singer Reimagined Track 1. Is it gonna happen at all?
why is the number four is IIII instead of IV?
YuZhong Ng aesthetics
+1 for the title
They shouldn't have to aggressively market them. The right people will buy them, no matter what and I have to say, they are exquisite pieces.
Chopard's reputation is a bit like Bulgari and Harry Winston: World-renowned jewellers who also produce watches because they can.
yes..But Bulgari has Gerald Genta with them
If the hand is a royal flush, then they are playing it right because you're not supposed to let on that you have such a strong hand.
“Jenny on the block”comment just killed me LOL
A good video would be comparing the Speedmaster Reduced to Different Speedmaster, and the future of Speedmasters'!
Could you do a video on a seagull watch. That would be interesting.
Those are some of the coolest hands I've seen on a watch.
Even without white gloves ;D (but seriously those are really cool hands)
I cant find a fault in the time traveller one watch in steel.
Utility, design, colour, legibility, value
Chopard and L U Chopard are like Bucherer and Carl F Bucherer.
Another great video!!
Love the cool hand luke references. Id take a luc over pp any day.
I literally need one of these now because of my last name...
All the best go for it, you will never regret.
Is there a chance of getting a review about the A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph? That'd be great. Besides, nice video as always! :D
I never think that Chopard takes their quality thus far
One word: advertising. On social media and watch magazines.
Locutus D'Borg
Patek Philippe has never had a social media platform, and says they never will.
The thing is that Patek P. doesn't need it, chopard on the other hand...
Hi, I've seen almost all your videos. Good videos and definitely good watches on your website.
Could you maybe review the bell & Ross br0194? Thanks.
Thanks! Hopefully we can get that in a future video.
I think they can make a lot more return on invest with happy diamonds... just a quarz steel watch with some tiny little diamonds but a biiig price!! So investment on working hours i pretty damn low compared to a true watch like the l.u.c
Just my oppinion...
This title is genius
they could try putting their name on the bumper of a 911 RSR GTE
LUC has too much variation in design while lack of brand identity. The current models are oversized 43mm to 44mm.
Amazing!
Well I suggest they win a few trophies at the GPHG for a start... Oh, wait
L.U Chopard watches Beautiful...!!!
This is, quite possibly, the most high-quality series of watch videos currently on youtube.
Open an AD in the United States
Could watch for hours!
