@@trollashnikovavtomat I agree, for sure he knows about watches but his channel and style are 99% clickbait and for 13 years old who don’t even know what a mechanical watch is, he for example said that a GS is simply a seiko, just like saying that your Audi A1 is the same as an Audi A8 full optional

These are my favorites. The ones where you dive into a specific model, harken back to the annals of history (gapped or bridged as the annals may be), and really break down what makes the piece extremely special. Brilliant work. Gorgeous piece. And now I have a profound and unanticipated appreciation. Thank you, sir!
That’s a really nice watch but for someone that is looking at a minute repeater either shouldn’t be or is getting a minute repeater it’s on demand telling of the time in a different form like you said this is just a hour chime
Boy, did they get angry at me at the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva when I corrected them that they are not the last remaining family-owned watchmaker in Geneva because there is also Chopard. Trying to dismiss my statement, they told me off in front of the entire group of visitors that this was different without explaining how Chopard was different. I let them save face (at the expense of losing mine) and therefore didn’t ask them how Chopard was different and also why it shouldn’t be counted as a Geneva-based watchmaker… I know Chopard moved to Geneva in the 1930s but one can still call them Geneva-based and family-owned. I have owned and own watches by both companies and I feel both have deserved their place in the world of high horology.
@@humanbeing1675 So, then one could argue that Patek Philippe wasn’t even founded by Swiss people. Patek was Polish, Czapek was Polish of Czech descent and Philippe was French and we know how the Swiss look down on the French.
@@user-wi9nn6dz8w You know it was a joke. You just ruined Pateks marketing strategy 😉 And yes, a lot of famous swiss watch companies were founded by people from other countries.
And the problem with Casio is that after a few years they turned down the volume of their chime so low it could barely be heard in a quiet room and not at all in a busy room.
Another outstanding video, with commentary to match. This Picasso is already a subscriber. True class, my vote for the golden globes of watch RUclips world, sir goes to you.
I have a huge passion for watches and I have nothing but respect and admiration for the companies and especially the skilled people that make these beautiful pieces. That being said, even if money no object, I still think I wouldn’t buy any of them. Hopefully, there are enough people buying them so they can keep making beautifully complicated watches for us to admire.
Anyone knows the difference between the caliber 96SH and the SHT? I don't see the Geneva seal on either although the SHT here looks finished to higher standard.
Its very pretty and alot of its well done but the finishing on the gears is quite poor and the gold inlay on the rear appears to be blotchy though that could be lighting angles causing what look like black areas in the gold inlay however it does not excuse the fact the gearing appears to have been machined and shoved on without being polished in any way
Wow! I wasn’t aware Chopard were still an independent and fully integrated manufacturer. I’ve always assumed they were yet another historic brand owned by some huge umbrella corporation like LVMH or Swatch.
I terms of onluly the complication, the Christopher Ward bell canto does the same for "only" 4000$, the real thing that bumps up the price here is the level of finishing and the caliber being made in house imo.
Thank you for such great, informative videos with fantastic long lasting macro segments. It's amazing to see all of the imperfections, such as small stains on one of the (train) wheels @ 6:15, or how perlage that might look sparklingly beautiful and evenly finished to the naked eye, is actually quite variable in depth and consistency when viewed in macro. I wonder if completely handmade movements that cost US$500K and above have as many small variations in finishing or if they are done to an even higher standard of cosmetic finishing. Anyone know?
On that subject… The Breitling Navitimer 1461 has a 4-year “perpetual” calendar in addition to the slide rule bezel and chronograph and even a moon phase, all for less than a Rolex datejust preowned! How’s that for a hack!
As a watch collector myself, I am subscribed to many youtube channels. But personally, I like the reviews of this channel the best of them all. The way the narrator talks is just great.
I'm a machinist and when it comes to any machine part, I see everything. This is near the best of the watches I've seen on this channel from a finishing standpoint, though they need to revise their method of engraving the text on the movement, it's downright atrocious. And the poor bastard watchmaker who took a fiberglass pen to that bridge 6:07 and wore through the plating to the brass needs taking out for shooting. At least he replaced the screw he mangled.
Is that a new Daytona, or a pre owned you're referring to? In that case you wouldn't have to hack anything, you'd have the money to buy at the least a V. C. Overseas
Chopard didn't have its own movement designing or manufacturing capabilities so it bought a ETA licenced factory to develop its in house movements. Make of that what you will.
How can you say no to that? Well, for one thing, Daytonas go for what... 60, 70 k €? I have not earned that much in last 4 years together. But a man can dream...
Can’t and wouldn’t buy this, just not my style, but, my God, it’s a beautiful piece. I’m pretty sure if I sold all my Seiko’s & Citizen’s & Casio’s, it wouldn’t pay for the winding rotor. 🇨🇦
I've always hated Chopard watches because of their gaudy diamond encrusted insistence. Those are dreadful. And while Leona Helmsley, Imelda Marcos or Liberace may have owned one or several of them, it generally doesn't make them interesting as watch designs. But I suppose there's a princess market that needs to be filled. But I sure like this one.
Your standard video (we buy watches) opener is misleading. I realise that used IWC's are of little value but when you send our emails asking for watches, the very least your sales team could do is respond saying you are not buying that model at the moment. Ignoring previous customers communications like Watchfinder does portrays a business lacking integrity and is very unprofessional.
@Colby Meyer This comments was mainly about the way Watchfinder is managed and how it treats customers. The IWC watch value retention is poor and should be considered when purchasing. The only option for me as an IWC owner is to keep it. My experience in watches has shown Watches of Switzerland to be the best company to deal with.
Ah, so relaxing. Another episode of perfection. Perfect macro shots, technical information, history …. Chopard sounds (quite an obvious link) like a classical composer,)

I’ll bite, what other brands does Chopard make parts or movements for?
I love that symbols indicating on/off for the chime are eighth notes and eighth rests for off. Love this
