I like what you said about it not being about respecting the person, but rather showing respect for the uniform or the position or title. That explanation resonated with me. I might’ve disagreed if I hadn’t heard it put that way. Thank you ❤ I just love listening to you. The perfect way to start my day.

My parents raised me to be respectful of everyone. The problem is 90% of the other parents in this world, did not teach their children respect. There is a massive lack of respect on this planet.

I grew up having lots of respect for others…but no respect for myself. That was back in the ‘50s. Respect indicates that one person is more valuable than another. In my old age now, I have come to a belief : all people are of equal value. In this thought, PRIDE is unwelcome. Being Prideful is all about believing someone is more valuable or better than another. Ungodly. Honestly insisting on respect is ill thought. Think it over.

I agree with you that respect needs to be earned; I also think it should be given freely. I find respect most useful when interacting with teenagers. They respond so well to being respected. I learned long ago to stand up when being introduced, especially when meeting a new superior, or a healthcare provider for the first time. It immediately sets a positive tone.

As I am sitting on my deck this morning surrounded by all my beautiful flowers and oasis that I somehow created on this hot Canadian July morning with my coffee, I took in this video but felt a bit of rage because I revisited my own past and reflected on the many people that wronged in me or plain out disrespected me and thought how interesting it was that some of them got extremely angry and offended if I turned around and did the exact SAME thing to them. It bothers me that some people think respect is a one way street and some people just can’t be bothered with being kind. Oh well, I need to let go of the past. I do believe it is perfectly OKAY to not like someone, it’s OKAY to not agree with what someone else says or believes in, you don’t have to be friends with every single person you encounter and not every personality is going to get along, but in my mind it’s NEVER okay to be rude and disrespectful to anyone or even go out of your own way to be an a$$hole to someone. If you like me that is great, if you don’t like me, cest la vie, it’s not going to make any difference in my life. Another great video Dee. It helped me resonate with many things I need to work on in my life and with you, I NEVER feel like I am alone. Take care and can’t wait to see your next video.

Your deck sounds a wonderful place to be - well done for creating a wonderful space for you to be. I hope that your bit of rage settled with your further reflection. I often find that my first instinct is to feel angry. but that sort of gives me the impetus to not fob things off, but to give them proper consideration - usually to turn from me blaming myself. I am so pleased with the last line of your comments, Tomorrow's video is a very much greenery filled walk using midfulness - along the side of a canal. I hope that you enjoy it. D

That is why we have so much intense bullying these days many times leading up to violence! Disrespect is more reflected upon the one showing disrespect than the one they are disrespecting! It's a low class simple minded out of self control person who does this. This is so massively rampant these days that it has totally deligitimized the demand for equity and abolish racism platform. It's so bad that it's hard to take anyone seriously now a days, everyone's crying wolf!

As a newly elected PM, he duly deserve the respect, and then for him to be regarded as ‘one of us ordinary citizens’ is something I don’t agree with. We shouldn’t try to ask people to knowingly ‘disrespect’ us.

For me, I feel respect should always be given, regardless of age, race, social class, title etc. because I believe all human beings should be given respect, and because I also feel what I’d like to be given is what I should give in return. And even if I am disrespected by someone, I feel as though if I reciprocate with that same disrespect, how am I any better and how do I have the moral authority or right to justify my own bad behavior simply because I didn’t start it…..

Ha! That song was the first thing I thought of, when I saw the title. Followed by "All I ever wanted was a little more respect from you" by Kirsty McColl. YES! I think the PM wants to be chummy with folk. It doesn't work, imo. I had great advice from the class teacher when I began to work as a TA for kids with emotional difficulties. She said, They don't have to like you. They have to respect you. And yes, you need to respect yourself....and be worthy of that respect. My daughter in law asked me once (years ago) if she needed to iron her blouse (she was going for a job interview). I said, of course. Because if you can't be bothered to do that, they will wonder what else you can't be bothered with. Lots of love, Dee. Technology, eh? 🙄😄

I can see both sides of the PM anecdote. So many young people are not engaged in politics but I agree that respect for the office of PM is important. Re Maggie she was not well loved or respected in Scotland and talking about belting out songs - when she died a particular radio station was "belting out" " hey ho the witch is dead!" Not respectful at all but as a person she was not respected amongst most of the population of Scotland - quite the opposite. Politics can be so divisive perhaps I shouldn't have posted a comment as I almost always do and just given you a thumbs up for valiantly getting your content uploaded 👍 big love from Scotland as always❤

I like how you respectfully disagree. If he's too 'easy-going' it could potentially cause problems down the track. It's like when your boss wants to be friends with you and then treat you like one of the employees during the week. It can cause awkwardness at best, although I'm sure there are positive examples of it working out long-term.
I do think it can be good to lose official titles in some circumstances, to help relax people and show respect less hierarchically. But that doesn't apply to the prime minister I don't think.
