    Tony, I’m a rank novice in leatherwork. While I know I can pick whatever leather I want, I’d benefit greatly if you would say what leather and weight you use; maybe in the project notes or in the video. In the past I’ve made some inappropriate leather selections and it really made the build more difficult. Thanks.

      His patterns usually say on the printable version what wait they recommend. But a whole, Toni recommends 5-6 oz leather, and mostly a mix between vegetable tan and chrome tan leathers.

    Do NOT mess with Professor Tony!
    BTW, stitching leather with a machine requires a machine that is quite a bit more robust than a regular machine you might sew a dress or curtains with, so you're often talking about a lot of money. Also, in some ways, it's more difficult to use a machine in very tight spots. I doubt that you could successfully use a machine for this whole project. Besides, at the end of it all, you get to give away or sell a wonderful hand-stitched piece of work- and who wouldn't want to own something like that? < grin >
    Thanks for your awesome videos, Tony!

    Haha! Great answer, Professor Tony, in a great manner! I guess how many times you asked about that! :D
    I think that this question is raised by people who can't learn manual stitching or don't know that they just need to learn it. First thing that I did, it was a fleurdelisbag, and I noticed that sometimes stitch jumps. I carefully stepped back to the place where it started to jump and go forward again, but at third time I think that there must be a something, a "secret" and go to seek in a google. There are several methods, I choose one for me that I liked.
    Best Wishes, Tony! You're cool!
    Besides I paused a leather hobby in favor of electronics hobby and there are other things happening now in our country, I dreaming to do something in a leather and hope it will be in a near future.
    P.S. Nice bag!

    Hello Tony, as a person wanting to get into leather craft I have watched lots and lots and lots, of (mostly yours) leather craft videos. What I have noticed is most, if not all use glue as well as stiching. You do not, why is that? Is it a choice you have made, or something you think is not necessary. Thank you for your funny and informative videos. This might be a question for Professor Tony.

    • @squigglyphrank9348
      @squigglyphrank9348 4 года назад

      He uses glue for things that are stressed like zippers. The saddle stitch is strong enough, if the thread breaks the glue wont hold it either. Less messy too

    What kind of thread do you use? On the video it looks rather thick but I know how a vido can fool you on measurement. And, what meterial is the best to use, synthetic or linen? I use both but I'm also aware of that linen can degenerate after many years of use, which is not the case for synthetic thread. But, it always feels better with natural material.
