For number 3 non scented bar soap works great in place of jewelers past. I've been honing all of my blades with it since I was old enough to have a knife.
Using the wax when punching holes has changed the game!! You've mentioned this before and this came in handy when working on my bowler. Although, by the time I got this information I was already halfway through the "40" holes that needed to be punched. My hands killed for a few days after this project.
Tony thank u so much for sharing crated skills. U are amazing. Also thank u very much for you free gifts in south africa we are on complete lock down not earning any wages at all. What we can do with your free patterns and scrap leather help us forget the struggle. Hope u get blessed by the tons. In the good times i bought some patterns. And those times will come again. But want to say u have a fan for life. Henrico grobbelaar from cape town.
I subscribed after watching just one video from you. Maybe a bit "exaggerated acting" but I didn't skip a second of this video and laughed multiple times! 😂 Like it very much! Greetings from a Hobby Leathercrafter in Germany!
G'day, thanks for the great video, I am just beginning to develop an interest in leatherwork and totally enjoyed the way you present and explain your craft, thanks again.
Thanks for all the work you put into shooting and editing this video. This is a really comprehensive list. Finding good and thorough how-to's on the YT has been surprisingly difficult. I look forward to scrolling through your back catalogue. I fell into a leathercraft shaped rabbit hole over the Holidays. I'm finally at the point where I have enough vintage tools from the ebay to work on projects. Right now I'm working on an overly complicated tool roll for my leather-carving tools. I figure the best way to perfect my techniques is to work on some tool rolls and sheaths. Thanks for the inspiration... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Tried 2 of them today! The wax on the tape and making a punch handle. Both improved my work tremendously. Currently working on the pin cushion pattern from your etsy store. 👍👍
I could sure use a good pinch to cut my stitching holes. I have been using a drill bit and hand drill. Sometimes I need pliers to pull the thread through. Like your helpful reviews
Yah, been doing all of these after seeing them bit by bit in your videos, Im just waiting on those edge dye marker pen thingys to arrive along with the edge dye, Covid19 lockdown in New Zealand included all non essential postal services, so had to wait 5 weeks before I could order stuff. Ps loved the number 4 hand set up.... lol
Only a true artists share their tricks 🍻.. many fear others will improve over them ... thanks The wax on the punch looks awesome , will any wax block dye? or will the thread cover up whatever wax has been punched thru the tape?
Great trick - no duds. As a shoe maker, using lots of tiny nails: Wash nails with dish soap, spray with vinegar, allow to rust slightly. This makes the nails less slippery and pulls the leather more than brite nails.
Good tips. You. Can also age or change the color by leaving it out in the sun. It will “tan” just like human skin. Pretty cool. Tried it a couple times.
The glue syringe is genius.... I guess you have some kind of cap for it too to seal it after use? doing it with a brush is so messy and the brush just end up like a ball of glue!!
Craftsmanship of the masters. When I put on ma leather I made, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
Where did you find the red thread? I'm in an area that doesn't have much in the way of supplies. Also, what adhesives to you recommend if I wanted to double up leather on a face mask (so that I wouldn't have something that smells bad/strong). I need something forgiving in case I don't get it laid right the first time. Can I put wax directly on the leather if I don't have a paper pattern over it & have the marks on the leather?
Hi Tony, too cool, thanks for the tips and dry humour! Q: Your stitchingng pony. Is that custom made or something you ordered ? I live in Namibia & it's incredibly difficult to get any type of online delivery here. Even prelockdown.
Andalyn Daich Tony answered this ? In one of his videos. As always, he says "you can do what you like...I don't care". 👐. He says he likes the look of his method and the relatively easier approach to pushing thread through 2 pieces of 6 oz leather.
A round hole will generally have a cleaner and more forgiving look due to the curve. A diamond prick requires a more even stitch to achieve the same result.
Im a beginner. I had a copper stamp made so i can burn my trade name into the leather but the leather shrinks every time distorting it badly. Can you please give me adviçe. Much appreciated. Pamela. Tasmania Australia
With tip #1, does paraffin wax work?? I may have trouble "liberating" some tea lights from my wife. P.S. Love your work. The leather mask tutorial with the free pattern you made some time ago works well and I got many comments from my friends and co-workers with the one I made

thanks for the tip!
Finally someone answered my question simply on what to do when your thread is too short. Thank you

Tony, you are the man.
A syringe for glue is cool. I use a small silicone squeegy. Easy to get fine lines and super easy to clean.
Great tips. You have a new subscriber.

DEAR FRIEND, VERY NICE AND THANKS, QUESTION, HOW YOU WILL COMPETE WITH CHINA MADE LEATHER
PRODUCTS? ANY SUGGESTION?.
evaristo cardona I'm not sure China stands a chance :)
Nice Tony, great tips right there. Can say I've used most of them after watching you use them in other projects :D
That, Sir, was a moment of enlightenment. I thank you!
Thanks, your guidance has helped me improve my craft a great deal!!
Lots of ideas I would never have thought of
Appreciate the links Tony! Been looking for a solid music provider for content.
Thank you so much!very interesting!
Tony, what are those pins you sometimes use to hold your leather together while you stitch? And where can I get some?
Maestro thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!!
Amazing! I can't wait to try these!
Tony, are you Italian? Your hands move like an Italian. Good videos Thanx so much. Blessings on ya,
Thank you 💜💜💜
Good tips. You. Can also age or change the color by leaving it out in the sun. It will “tan” just like human skin. Pretty cool. Tried it a couple times.
May I ask what brand of punches you use and the weight and type of mallet? Thanks
The glue syringe is genius.... I guess you have some kind of cap for it too to seal it after use? doing it with a brush is so messy and the brush just end up like a ball of glue!!
HI Tony. Did I just see you spread glue with a skiving knife ( Joking Great video Thanks!! )
I would love to know what you do with your scraps. I have bins full that I will probably never use. The thought of throwing them out kills me.
I'd love to get a hold of your bin!
Buy his charm patterns, and put the scraps to use. (I too have a collection of cuttings).
And make sleeves for all your punches! I even color -code my handles for round and oval
Great video Tony! Where did you get your small anvil? I have been looking for a good one for some time.
Awesome video, Thanks Tony

Can I put wax directly on the leather if I don't have a paper pattern over it & have the marks on the leather?
what is best for edge finishing ?? Tokonole or edge paint ?
Brilliant, thank you Tony!
In the states look for syringes in cooking stores, (as they don't readily sell hypodermics).
QUESTION: What could I use split leather for ? , thin pieces , to create with and dont say anything , specifically.
superbe vidéo très instructive j'adore le seul hic pas de sous titrage en français merci pour le partage
Thanks for tips tony sir from sikkim
Thank you tony its very cool tips 👍
Great stuff
Hi Tony, too cool, thanks for the tips and dry humour! Q: Your stitchingng pony. Is that custom made or something you ordered ? I live in Namibia & it's incredibly difficult to get any type of online delivery here. Even prelockdown.
I'm diggin' on that 'pin cushion'.
Good job. Thanks for tips.
Thank you!
Question. What kind of thread do you use and where do you get it?
Also, why hole punches Instead of a diamond pricking iron?
Andalyn Daich Tony answered this ? In one of his videos. As always, he says "you can do what you like...I don't care". 👐. He says he likes the look of his method and the relatively easier approach to pushing thread through 2 pieces of 6 oz leather.

Outstanding, thanks Tony 👍
I use cinnamon scented tea candles, reminds me of Christmas...
Usualy you use 6-8oz leather for your project, but what difference does it make to use a thinner leather like 3-5oz?
I just finished punching all tho holes for my current project(bout 1k+ holes). Wish I had watched this before that:/
Im a beginner. I had a copper stamp made so i can burn my trade name into the leather but the leather shrinks every time distorting it badly. Can you please give me adviçe. Much appreciated. Pamela. Tasmania Australia

I'm aware of jewellers rouge, but not the paste. Where would you purchase that from.
Thanks for these master tips Tony :-)
Hello Tony, thanks for the tips!
Can you please tell me where I can purchase CM 14? I can't seem to find it here for sale in the US. Do you have another suggestion for a quality adhesive for leather if ai can not get CM14?
Thank you
Any cement glue will work and I have to say, CM is not the best you can get :(
