Beautiful work of leather craftsmanship. Thank for showing the most important first step and practice in handling any weapon. That is ensuring that the weapon is not loaded before handling it. Again Great piece of craftsman ship.😎
I think this is one of the better holsters you've shown. And you've shown some really awesome pieces. That laser makes filigree perfection. Kinda jealous I can't get one... yet.
Thanks a lot! There's some inexpensive laser engravers/cutters on Amazon. Even the lower power ones can cut leather this thick. Just max the power, slow the speed, and increase the number of passes it makes.
Over the time I've been watching your videos, which has been quite a while now...I don't remember when I subbed, I've learned to visualize the final shape and watch it come together. This one, I couldn't think of how the long strap was going to be used, and then you folded it back for a belt loop. I laughed at myself over my inability to see that. Great looking holster, as always.
Once again an outstanding job on a beautiful piece. It really is a joy to watch your work. Also very informative. I always learn something new when I watch. Curious though why you didn’t machine sew the lining? Either way, superb work sir.
Eh, this was a small enough job I didn't need the sewing machine. That and I was using a very specific size/color of thread that won't run on my machine. Thanks for leaving a comment!!
@@RoadAgentLeather roger that…I was just wondering because I’ve seen you do it on other projects. But you know a helluva lot more than me. Again my hat is off to you sir. Keep ‘em coming. And thanks.
I am not sure I have ever caught your name but I watch your videos every time they are posted. I have a suggestion for you how about a belt leather cell phone holder
Quite impressive. Do you apply a final finish..resolene, top coat, etc? Again, watching you work has inspired ideas for my own work. So thank for sharing. One day I can be a Jedi too. Keep filming keep crafting.
On this piece, no top coat. The antique paste is essentially just shoe polish. If you rub and buff it enough it get's all the excess off. What's left just acts as stain.
@@RoadAgentLeather Thanks. Another question if you don't mind. I notice you cut you dye in half (+/-) with isopropyl alcohol. Does that help reduce streaking of the dye on the leather? Using that swap or sponge help with streaking?
I work in my garage, so I just open the door and turn on the fans. ....but it gets hot in there on warm days. I just recently acquired a smoke/particulate filter which will be featured in my next video.
That was an awesome video. Your work is flawless. I have a question for you if you don't mind. The pins that you used with what looked like caps on them to hold your work together while you lined up your sewing holes? Where did you get them and what are they? I really need those.
Do you still use your class 26? Why not on a project like this (at least for sewing on the liner)? Was thinking of getting one for my work but maybe I need the class 4.
Yep! The class 26 is a great machine and could have easily sewn this holster. I didn't use it in this video because I wanted to saddle stitch using a particular thread brand.
When you wet the leather prior to working it, what is it that you brush into it after the water? I’m still just a newbie, making a few items for myself and my friends.

Thanks! I had a minor skateboarding accident. Ended up using my hand (and the right side of my body) as a skid plate on the pavement. I was in considerable pain while filming those last couple of scenes.
@RoadAgentLeather Thanks for the considerable effort to make videos. We, as fans, love them and can't get enough. You truly are a master craftsman in leatherwork. I usually watch videos once and delete. I re-watch yours a lot.
Very nice work 👌🏻 do you prefer Tokenole to Gum Tragacanth? And also what are those pointy screw things you used to keep the two sides held together ? I’ve never seen them before 😅
Lemme put it this way: I haven't used gum trag since discovering Tokenole. Those are leather positioning needles. You can buy them from WUTA leather, or just from Amazon.
I notice you don't apply any type of resist before your antique paste. Is this to get a specific effect? Do you ever use a resist? Just curious because I've tried both ways, and depending on how naturally smooth the leather is I find the antique can act like a stain.
What you said: It depends on the effect I'm going for. I sometimes use ProResist. Like when applying over basking weave tooling. But in this case, I was going for the "vignette" effect of a darker edge feathering into a lighter-colored body (sorta 'sunburst'). So I let the antique stain the edges and blended it into the center.
Great video as always! I have a laser and I was wondering if you could tell me how you do a tooling pattern with it? Please!! I.e. how do you put it in the xtool program?

First, I said wow on your Lazer work then I said dubble wow on your brass match stain and the holster turn out superb
Lol. I was trying to match the colors of the revolver. Amber-brown, brass, black. It came close . . . but not quite.

I work in my garage, so I just open the door and turn on the fans. ....but it gets hot in there on warm days. I just recently acquired a smoke/particulate filter which will be featured in my next video.
I mean the burnt smell of the leather, not the room you work in. I thought dye and Meetfoot oil would help . Do you have this issue? Greg
Where can I get the hole puncher iron you use? That really would save me a lot of time and frustration! Excellent work as always!

It's glycerine saddle soap. Not necessary, but something I do before tooling. Gives better stamp impressions and slows the drying down.
@@RoadAgentLeather thank you. It's great that artists like you are willing to help newbies.

The inner lining is milled veg-tan leather. It's relatively thick (about 4-5 oz). I haven't seen one wear out yet!
It'll outlast all if us if taken care of correctly
Where do you get your knives from
