With that much setup and things to keep track of, it really feels like this would've been better off as a video game instead of a physical game, especially as it's solo-only.
@@FosukeLordOfError I do agree that the tactile element is an enjoyable element of playing physical board games, but it does get diminishing returns as the complexity ramps up, especially when you're the person having to keep track of and maintain all the elements.
I love to see more good solo board games. Sometimes you just can't get people for a session of something for a while and this can take the edge off, or sometimes just to do something else that doesn't require looking at a screen.
I wonder if it would've worked better as a co-op game instead of a solo one. Like scrap or alter the Ally part of it and have a hero selection. Like let one player pick Batman who is really good at X, and another player could pick Nightwing, who is good at Y. How the later book sections pan out might mean it wouldnt work but a Bat-Fam pandemic game sounds kind of fun
If you're up for more solo games, I full heartedly recommend giving Final Girl a look, which is a modular one player game where you can combine film boxes to mix horror themed killers, locations, and the final girl characters themselves. If the horror theming doesn't interest you, there's also Hostage Negotiator which uses much of the same game system but removes most/all movement but has a campaign mode and the theming of being a hostage negotiator in high tension situations trying to save as many hostages as you can.

Well, it sure does look "fine". The gameplay loop seems interesting, the aesthetic and art is really nice, I love the way it plays out a "Batman versus the world" setup where he's beset on both sides by criminals and cops alike. But as I was watching you explain the game, I found myself thinking "wow, this seems like such a bitch to set up", and then you said not only exactly that, but then you zoomed out to show how much goddamn space this thing takes up. Good lord. I don't even know where in my house I'd play this. The game seems cool but it also seems just a little bit too fiddly for, like you said, not enough fun. If this game was like an 8-9/10 guaranteed good time every time I racked it up, yeah sure I'd deal with the setup, but I'm not gonna clear out a whole room or big table and spend all this time meticulously setting up tokens and cards for a mid time.

Yeah I hate games that use these flimsy tokens that generally adds nothing to the game but take up additional board space, this game looks and feels very ascension-like but I think I generally hate games that take too long to setup and explain the rules. Good board games are those that you can mindlessly pull out your back pocket and play on a small table the rules being so simplistic you don't have to make a big mess on a table to enjoy a game.
