    Hello Melissa, hope you will read this. I'm a man and new in the skincare since a week. I bought a cerave foaming cleanser, the ordinary nmf, the ordinary salycilic mask and the ordinary niaciname 10% + zinc. After washing my face with the cleanser my face is a little bit dry. But after using the nmf with 3 drops of the niacinamid its ok. Until now i used the mask one time and think it was fine with my skin. My Problem is at the chin and mouth. There are often whiteheads in my beard. Do you think i could use the 2% salycilic acid serum there to handle these? If i would use the mask i couldnt wash it off and i think once a week would be to less for these whiteheads 😢 hopefully you could give me an advise.

      Hey :)
      Yes, the salicylic acid serum would be perfect for this and may yield good results. However, it's important to note that results can vary. Personally, I have had the best experience with a Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatment (2,5-5%). I only apply it to the whiteheads/breakouts as it tends to work quicker, which better suits my needs.

      @@svu6656 Well, the skin may feel dry immediately after cleansing, but usually, it should regain its balance fairly quickly. • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial

      Well, it depends on what's causing these little pimples in the first place. Since when do you have these pimples and since when are you using SA? What else do you use?
      It's best to figure out the root cause to 'cure' it in the most effective way. However, yes, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, or Retinol should help to reduce/lessen pimples, but it also depends on which ingredient your skin reacts to the best.

      What's your skin type? If it's oily, I recommend using CeraVe's Foaming Cleanser instead.
      As for the rest, your routine looks good. Still, how often you can use The Ordinary's Salicylic Acid Solution depends on your skin tolerance. Start with once per day, 2-3 times per week, and adjust the frequency over time.
      Also, in the beginning, you may want to use The Ordinary's Salicylic Acid Solution and TIL Spot Treatment in separate routines to see how your skin tolerates them individually before using them together.

      Generally, no. BHA is the same as Salicylic Acid, so you would be doubling up on that. Additionally, using AHA and PHA, which are other exfoliating acids, at the same time could be excessive. It's best to alternate to prevent overwhelming the skin over time.

    Hi! Quick question, I heard/read somewhere that you shouldn't mix salicylic acid serums and niacinamide serums together? Im kind of curious because I use and enjoy the ordinarys niacinamide 10% + zinc 1% serum and want to use the salicylic acid 2% solution to deal with my breakouts but now Im not sure if I should use them together or not.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, mixing them can influence the pH of the formulation, leading to reduced efficiency of Niacinamide and possibly Salicylic Acid (SA) as well. Therefore, you should apply them in layers, one after the other. Apply SA and wait a couple of minutes before applying the Niacinamide serum.

    I have oily and acne prone skin.
    Is it fine if I use Cosrx Salicylic acid daily cleanser ,COSRX AHA BHA Clarifying Treatment toner, Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence, the ordinary salicylic acid 2% solution, Cosrx snail cream and Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream together?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  8 месяцев назад +1

      Maybe for a few days, yes. 😉
      But no, this is too potent since you are essentially using three exfoliating acid products in the same routine. This exposes the skin to a significant amount of acids, which can lead to irritation and sensitivities over time.
      So, I would suggest using either the AHA BHA Toner or the SA solution. If you already have both, consider alternating them, perhaps daily, if you tolerate it well.
      Additionally, I recommend using sunscreen during the daytime and the moisturizer only in the evening. Otherwise, it may be too much, especially if you also use the snail cream during the day, since you are already using the snail mucin and then the hydrating sunscreen.

    I noticed you applied this under your eyes so I did the same. My under eye is so dry and darker. Did it thin my skin? The difference between my under eye area and yours is that you have no bags. I think you should mention that when you give instructions. Had someone said to not apply under eye, I would not have. It’s so confusing when directions on bottle say do not get in contact of eye. I assume that means, do not our IN the and if so flush it out. I watched your video and did the same you did. I only used this once. Did my under eye thin out?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  7 месяцев назад

      Generally, if you've noticed your under-eye skin becoming dry and darker after just one use, it's possible that your skin is sensitive to this product. While salicylic acid doesn't typically thin the skin with a single use, it can cause irritation or dryness that might make the skin appear thinner or more delicate, especially if you are sensitive to the product. However, I did not apply it under the eyes and advised avoiding the eye area. The product instructions do not specifically mention this, but I know that these acids can easily cause irritation when applied near the eyes, which is why I said to avoid the eye area.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 месяца назад

      Yes, daily use of salicylic acid can increase the chance of absorption through the skin, potentially leading to salicylic acid poisoning. However, with normal concentrations available on the market, typically around 2% (or less), this is generally not a concern. At these concentrations, salicylic acid is considered safe for regular use when applied appropriately and in moderation.

      Salicylic Acid and/or Niacinamide may help to reduce acne marks/acne. I would recommend using them at different times since both can have a drying effect on the skin.

    We should leave the acid on the face in all the night or we can clean with water after 30 min

    Before or after moisturiser?

    Hello, I would like to ask you some questions
    How many times do I use it per week?
    And how long do I leave it on my skin.
    Is it permissible to use it with a moisturizer from Simple?
    Can I use simple lotion before it? ❤

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Год назад +2

      Hello,
      Technically, you can use it daily if that is the only exfoliant or treatment you are using. However, if you are using others like retinol, alternating days would be the best idea. Overall, though, it depends on your personal skin tolerance for these products.
      For the moisturizer, I would recommend using a light gel afterwards.

      @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you for your reply. I do not have a gel moisturizer. Does it affect whether I use Simple or not, because this is what I have

      If the moisturizer doesn't clog your pores, feel free to continue using it. Otherwise, consider either skipping moisturizer altogether or exploring a gel-based alternative.

    Whenever I use it, mine like lathers up and looks white? Can someone explain why it happens?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  7 месяцев назад +1

      Do you rub it harshly? If so, try to do it more gently. However, overall, it's just air that gets trapped underneath, which is not a reason for concern.

      This is happening to me too. It almost goes on like a cleanser that I need to wash off. I couldn’t just leave it like that so I’ve had to rinse it off. Not sure what to do.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  6 месяцев назад

      @@natasharobertson5212 Make sure to properly cleanse your face and rinse off the cleanser completely, then pat the skin dry. After that, use around 5 drops or less. If it foams a bit, it's likely due to the application. However, that foam should disappear quite quickly.

    How long we should put on our face

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  6 месяцев назад

      Well, you can leave it on until the next day as these are leave-on products. Personally, I use them like this:
      PM:
      Cleanse face.
      Pat dry.
      Apply the SA serum.
      I rinse it off the next morning with my cleanser.

    I used the Skin Republic Salycilic acid 2% for the first time tonight and bit worried.
    When I opened the bottel it had a milky look and kinda lathered white. This is a new bottle so not sure.

      I've never tried that formulation, so I don't know. However, if you are referring to foam, it could be that the product has been shaken, and therefore, it has this texture, but I'm not sure.

      The Ordinary SA Anhydrous Solution is great for those who have sensitive but also dry skin. So, in your case, I would use the normal one.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  3 месяца назад

      The foam is likely caused by air being added to the serum as you dispense/mix it.

      I recommend using either the SA Cleanser or the SA Serum. If you still want to use both, incorporate them into separate routines or alternate them on different days, depending on your skin's tolerance. Use a non-SA Cleanser when using the SA Serum.

    Should I use it two times a day everyday?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  10 месяцев назад

      I think doing it once daily might be sufficient. Try that first and see how it goes. After a while, you can decide whether to increase or decrease the frequency based on how your skin responds. :)
