Completed the first draft of the results section, and now I am circling back to the lit review while waiting on feedback before starting the discussion section. So far, your videos have been valuable to me, but I am still overwhelmed. Hoping to defend my dissertation at the end of October. Thank you

You’re doing an amazing job-finishing the first draft of your results section is a huge milestone! It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed at this stage, especially as you’re circling back to the literature review. Just take it one step at a time, and remember that refining your lit review now will make your discussion section even stronger.
I’m glad the videos have been helpful so far, and if there’s anything specific you’re feeling stuck on, don’t hesitate to ask. You’re so close to the finish line, and defending your dissertation in October is a fantastic goal. Keep up the great work, and best of luck as you move forward!

Hello Prof Yardley. Doing a thematic literature starting from the thesis title and RQs is a good way. But this top down approach may not cover everything I need. I have my themes in the findings chapter now so is it ok to add literature based on the findings? Thank you 🧡

Yes, it’s absolutely fine to add literature based on your findings. This can help deepen the discussion and show how your results connect to existing research. Just make sure to link back to your research questions and overall thesis to keep everything cohesive. It sounds like you’re on the right track!

The messy middle is such a tough stage, but it’s also where the magic starts to happen! It’s totally normal to feel overwhelmed, but remember to keep taking it one step at a time. Soon you’ll start seeing the connections come together. You’ve got this-keep pushing through!
