You should also talk about the Bangladesh war and its impact on North East... how Indira's opening of the borders flooded the NE with Bangladeshis and made the Assamese people a minority in their own land...
Do you think (pl research if possible) that during boundary commission discussions our negotiators committed a blunder by accepting vulnerable and narrow Siliguri corridor and secondly (more importantly) not insisting to retain Chittagong as all weather sea connectivity to North East.
Leaving the NE people on their own not only alienated many of these ppl from India but also their own native culture and this vacuum was exploited by church and alienated them more.
It is not that we are alienated from the rest of India by - a policy of the government ! But rather the lack of knowledge by ordinary indian of their own countrymen. Like seriously - Are you from Chinese ? As far as culture is concerned - culture and religion are not the same. The church is a stabilizing force in that sense. The church does not alienate culture in that sense . For eg . Luira phanit ( is a cultural festival - harvest festival *) which is promoted by church bodies. So the church actually helps preserve culture. Christianity is not Islam that you forget your culture ! How you live on earth is up to you . How your relation with God is personal to you .

Fantastic Nitin ji. I wish the show went on and on :) Finally, happy to see you really bringing our most beautiful part of our country mainstream. However, 15mins is too small and should be minimum 30 mins :) I have travelled extensively to NE of India, lovee the people, varied cultures, unending beauty. Thanks for covering this.
Nitin Sir as per wikipedia Bogibeel bridge was one demand in the Assam Accord in 1985 and finally was open for public in Dec 2018, so are there any such project in NE region suffering the similar fate or Bogibeel was the exception? And while rolling down future video kindly make a analysis on the topic 'what ails india's logistic sector?
Thank you sir for this video again . I was lucky enough to have NE friends and they are fantastic , had priveleage to live among them ,stay with them and see their culture. But I didn't know the history so deep . Now it may occur UPSC may have 1 or 2 questions from this. Sir please explain more about NE role during WW2 when japan invaded china . Once again sir thank you for your efforts and deep research on NE and Sharing with us.
Nitinji, In next episode if you could please cover existing fault lines. Why community identity is supreme till date?? Why and how indigenous ancient religious practices of few communities made way for Christianity. What are pros/cons? Is it humanly possible/practicable to return people whose names do not figure in the NRC. Is demographic inversion a real threat in Assam??
In the past Japan has been reticent to accept the Quad as a regional military alliance. Not so sure that they lately Changed their stance on this (?). Why not ask their think tanks versus maybe speculate.
cultural exchange is necessary to know people better as it act as a soft power, North know about south through its food and religion connection without even speaking common language similarly now people know about something about NE is due to its cuisines like momos has become popular in Metro cities even than NE is still a mystery for most.
Momos are Bhutanese /Tibetan cuisine, not really North East. Vegetarian Indians need to respect non- vegetarian cuisines of India, like in the North East, where pork & beef are widely consumed. For e.g. Gujarat is not Nagaland and what Gujarat eats should not be imposed on Nagas, living either in Nagaland or any other Indian state. Food hegemony by vegetarian Indians is harmful to India's unity.
@@MaTara01 I know momos are of tibbetan origin but it has been popularized by NE peoples. Tibbetan cultutre is not just present in geographical boundaries of tibet but also in Arunachal and sikkim. Point is that soft power of food and folk/music is the greatest connector of different peoples, even chai and khichdi are not Indian they are of chinese and nepali/tibetean origin respectively but it connect a lot of Indians together. Other thing I would like to mention that it is not only just pork or beef(Maiythun) that NE people consume all the time a lot of diversity of food is present. If chai from China can connect darjeeling&assam to kerala and a nepali/tibettan kichdi can connect UP & Rajasthan so can a tibettan veg momos and noodle(thukpa) can connect Gujarat to NE.
