Guys I have to point out this is the All new defender “County”. Not “Country”. Something that was not available before. We should rejoice in its presence lol.
Sticker in front of them says County too 😂😂
They've done well considering they can't read
Can't blame them, they're yanks. Wouldn't expect any less 😜
They’re bozos.
The volume knob makes sense where it’s at. It allows the passenger (usually the better half 😜) to have control of the sound level. The driver will usually use the steering wheel control to set the volume.
Like it should be lol
Hey guys, one correction for the video: This Defender 110 is has the "County Exterior Pack" with the white steelies among other cosmetic differences, rather than the *Country* Pack that's available under accessories for certain Defender trims. It's confusing for sure, but we did indeed make a mistake on that one here - sorry about that. Thanks for watching!
Dear god!
The Ingenium straight 6 has both a centrifugal supercharger and turbo charger which work together. Supercharger kicks in at lower RPM via 48v system for quick torque then the traditional turbo charger kicks in at higher RPMs. Interesting setup harking back to old Lancia analog compounded supercharged/turbo systems in their early 80’s rally cars.
Not being much of a car guy (my love are HD Softails and BMW R18B motorcycles), I bought the 6 cylinder Defender 110 XE a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVE it. It's luxury tank that will plow through anything and the interior is so classically detailed. My wife's Jeep Cherokee seems like a plastic toy compared to this solidly built beast. Couldn't be more happier. Although I rarely would say this, this Land Rover is definitely worth the money. By the way, the screen is a perfect size and is proportional to the dashboard.
The 110 is the sweet spot. I think the proportions are the most appropriate as well. Id be curious to see the longevity of the engine. Right now all the straight 6s on the market seem to be great even if they arent from BMW.
Good observation on the sweetspot.
I love my Defender 110, 46000 miles on it so far and no problems at all. I only wish I could fit the 18” steel wheels.
My guess is you have another 10 to 15 000 miles before the problems start.
They are well built. The reliability is better and the competition knows it.
keep guessing
Try the rolling the knob / barrel on the left side of the steering wheel… Controls volume as well…😊
The size of that screen is perfect for a car that wants to look like a car, and not a toy with a huge screen to play videogames. Well done! Thanks for the video.
How can you not like any hybrid vehicle? When driving or at any time, you just do not notice that this is a mild hybrid. In fact it doesn’t do much even for the fuel consumption. It’s only a small advantage for only an equally small purchase price disadvantage
@@hedydd2 After filling the tank, why should I like wasting other time to charge a huge stupid battery?
You are talking about a plug in hybrid. Regular hybrids don't require charging. They capture excess energy during braking, etc.. and store it to assist when needed. There's no interaction by the driver and you probably won't even notice that it's there.
@@Isha048 No plug-in charging involved in this kind of mild hybrid. Driving it does all the charging. The battery is relatively small. You need to do more research.
@@hedydd2 You too
COUNTY not coUNTRY pack! I had a LR 110 County Station Wagon back in 1983. One of the first. It was a disaster in terms of reliability, yet I ran a 1984 110 HiCapacity pickup for 22 years of hard farm work with minimal issues. The contrast was massive.
The r is silent LOL
Merkun’z can’t read… whuttu showker…
Can't read...
Yes I see the previous comment, County was the top of the range model back in the day when just known as LR110. We owned one for fourteen years, it was our family car when our kids were growing up.
The volume button for the driver is on the steering wheel. The other button is for passenger use.
I don't want that, my wife will keep turning the music down! lol
In the UK every one goes for the 3 litre 6 cylinder diesel, a load more torque and nearly 30 mpg.
The Ineos will give a better offroad experience as the trails get harder. Given that i spend more time driving to destinations than offroading on trails the defender is going to score higher as a daily driver. Once the gx550 shows up, defender will have a true luxury competitor. For now, only the defender has a swb version, love my d90
Such a pity you guys across the pond don’t get the fabulous 3ltr 6 cylinder diesel MHEVs - so smooth, quiet , powerful and economical. Yes you are right about handing the screen and the press button panel / knobs beneath it. My D250 90 sounds like a V8 when you press on, and that’s on the OEM / factory exhaust system.
The EPA is an outhouse. I miss Diesel cars, I grew up with a 1976 Mercedes 240D (had to pull out a lever to warm the glow plugs) my parents bought it 2 months after I was born and a 1980 300TD wagon we bought from our friends. I then just traded away my 2014 BMW 328d sedan for a shirt of of a Model Y which I got Lemon Law’d after 5 months.
Landrover Defender does offer all the aftermarket options, snorkel, skid plates, winch, roof rack and the list goes on
So, TFL's definition of "King of the Hill" is a car that literally couldn't be fixed by the dealer or the factory and had to be replaced.
The Land Rover Defender one of my favorite vehicles
I expect a 90 optioned with the stealies, off-road tires (from factory) the air suspension and locking diffs will be as off-road capable as the Ineos. I think the Ineos is so much of a heavy truck that it will struggle over obstacles the 90 will skip over, especially with the higher tide height/articulation of the air suspension. I’d love to see an over landing video of the Land Rover, new Land Cruiser, Ineos, Wrangler, Bronco, and G-Wagen over an extended course like the old Camel Trophy. Perfect for Top Gear, The Grand Tour, Nat Geo, History Channel or Amazon. I’d pay to watch it.
Have a look at some of the Australian reviews who do this. Robert Pepper auto journalist (Aus) is also in depth. TFL is my favourite in the US.
I was considering the grenadier but I’ve seen a few videos where even with the solid axels on the grenadier, it’s just so heavy and the articulation is sort of meh and the ground clearance is sort of meh that it’s sort of meh. I watched a comparison grenadier vs wrangler and the CHEAPER wrangler seemed to have an easier time getting around than the grenadier. So it’ll be interesting to see a defender against the grenadier. I think for probably 95% of the things you’d use the grenadier for the defender will get you there too.
That's actually cheap for a Defender. Looking forward to your take on the GX 550.
Not when its plain like this one.
@@krane15 Even 80 K is on the cheaper side. Start loading them up with v8s and they get really pricey.
I'm not a fan of the white tailgate/ door.
Looks like someone replaced a panel and didn't bother to paint it to me. Maybe I am headed from seeing too many vehicles r. epaired like that in the past? 🤔
Question: considering the experiences you've had with the Defender, would you still consider owning another one, or will you pick something else?
These are cool but seriously you have to be some kind of nut to buy these British engineered piles of crap. This one made Slovakia but if anything they are worse then the crap made in the UK. Its a hard pass for me. The fact that most owners dump them before the warranty expires is telling.
@@HiPlains1 I've had my LR4 for 8 years and with relatively few problems. My next vehicle is probably going to be a Land Rover (or maybe the Grenadier). Most people who rail on Land Rover reliability are people who've never owned one or bought a clapped out, uncared for used one for pennies on the dollar. Yes, TFL had their issues with the white one they bought, but that appears to have been a somewhat isolated incident. Theirs threw codes nearly from the start, which seems to be a first-year hiccup on an entirely brand new vehicle model and not emblematic of long-term reliability. Every manufacturer has them, even Toyota. The 2.0 4cyl turbo on these has proven to be fairly reliable.
@@rl9810watch 4xOverland's 2 videos on the new Defender. I definitely wouldn't buy one as an adventure vehicle. 🤷 They ruined everything that made old Defenders great.
@@BrandonBaecker he talks good of the ineos exp the hump in the pedal box but its right hand drive
I've seen them. He frequently gets a lot of stuff wrong about new Land Rovers because he pines so hard for the old ones. For example, he modifies the tar out of all the 70 series Land Cruisers he buys, but wants to judge modern Land Rovers as they are from the factory with no modifications (or remote travel preparedness) whatsoever. A lot of his quibbles are easily solvable.
@@BrandonBaecker
Land Rover knows who’s in charge of the radio. The Wife. That is why the volume button is on that side. :)
The button is for the passenger. The driver has volume control on the steering wheel.
They got robbed, got the County sticker which clearly isn't as big as a Country sticker! 🤣
what happened to the base defender with 18" steelies. 4 cal, etc
Love that color combination with the white wheels. Good luck finding one though in the 90.
Just one question, how do you drop the tyre pressurise to 15 psi without damaging the wheels?
You don’t
I do get...the build quality and little touches that make it premium.....but to an ordinary guy, it is silly money......(in Europe anyway).....I wanted (My wife wanted) 1. INEOS, 2. Jeep Gladiator, 3. Defender 110.....all of them were around the same price.....Then my Wife saw the Isuzu D Max AT 35 4 door..diesel auto...it was the equivalent of 20,000 dollars cheaper than all the rest, delivery in 3 months and it arrived to the day.....OK it's just a tricked up pick up truck......but it rides nice.....has full leather interior etc etc for 20 grand cheaper?
would be great to see that tackle tumbleweed ranch!
Anyway the price for this AT Isuzu is just insane, over 60k Euro in Poland..
It's time for a "redemption" episode. Just get a set of aftermarket tires that won't puncture on a cactus needle and take it up redcone. Toyota outfits their "offroad" TRDPro with tires fit for a crossover SUV, and the first thing anyone who wants to offroad one of those would do is change the tires. Do it on this. Get a set of 265/60/20 BFG Ats and Redcone it.
OMG, I love Nathen the way he says things smoothly. Eg - “fantastic engine in terms of power numbers...”, “tech when its working right..”, etc..
When you talk about “off road” capability, you seem to only refer to rock crawling, where I assume a wrangler is better. The defender is better in the mud, so it depends on the off road terrain you are referring to.
Just put the right tyres on for Rock Crawling. Not like TFL did😂
I've seen several videos of Defenders really excelling rock Crawling, even if not all the wheels aren't touching the ground !
I think this is the best looking suv. Would live to have one with a V8, but tad to pricey.
Thank you guys. Great job.
We own the i4 P300 variant. Overall it is $10K cheaper and runs really great. Couldn't wait for the GX because our old vehicle died ;-( before the GX would ship.
You might not appreciate the big issue with the info’s and its hump in footwell for rhd vehicles. Road manners and value inside the car defender is miles ahead.
I don’t understand how the word ‘county’ in writing on the side of the vehicle, becomes ‘country’ when spoken?
I noticed that this one has the rear locker from the driver's screen. Are you going to test it?
If you access the computer of the Defender you can turn on the key fobs tailgate release button. Yes, it will open the rear door. Nothing like fully opening it, but it will just pop open an inch when its unlocked. All the hardware is already built into the vehicle and the software is already in its computer. Land Rover just switched the function off and it is as simple as turning it back on. Oh also if all the other doors are locked and you use the tailgate button on the key fob, the back door will open without turning on in interior lights.
If it's a hybrid, you should nver have to know when the turbo finally spools up. If you colkd feel the turbo lag, it means that hybrid motor didn't do jack squat when you gave it the beans. if done right the hybrid motor would launch the vehicle and then the engine would take over after reaching the max torque range.
Software bug on the wipers parking in a different spot? It looks like they park there frequently when the sun hits the windshield.
There's a setting to keep them like that in winter if you'd like. They do come down in standard mode.
Nathan
The P400 is an excellent engine
The Defender 110 weighs about 2.4 tonne, unladen.
Then add passengers etc
And
It’s not an aerodynamic shape
Of course, fuel economy won’t be brilliant !
The same engine in other
( lighter weight JLR product )
Has much better economy…
Roman,
The multi function display screen fitted in that vehicle, looks like the smaller one, not the larger
11.4 inch size, that is available.
Humongous screens that dominate the interior, might look very flashy, but…..
Defender is not trying to be that type of vehicle.
Defender is offered in different body styles, different engines, different trim levels etc
Many factory options & accessories etc
It’s a very comfortable daily driver, with tech and safety features.
Fantastic off road ability ( way more then 90 % of buyers will require ) comes standard.
No wonder Defender is an ongoing worldwide sales success for LR.
If you want a lot more off road capability, as some do, modify it to suit your specific requirements
EG - Steve Burt
Who was on your channel, with his modified Defenders…
Defender is also a fantastic overlanding vehicle…
Grenadier is not as comfortable etc, as a daily driver.
Wrangler off the showroom floor, might have more off road capability, but it’s not as good as Defender, with regards to comfort & daily driving etc
People buy what they like & what suits them
If that’s a Wrangler, great
If that’s a Grenadier, great
Each to their own…
And
Can’t u read the badge
It says County
Not CountRy !
County was a Defender model offered many years ago with previous generation Defender..
🤷🏻♂️
And
Hardly surprising that many companies, such as Kia, and Toyota with new
Prado are copying the styling of Defender…
Is the R silent , need to know if there is a change to American English ?
VOLUME scroll is on the steering wheel. The knob is for the passenger
Volume button: the primary volume button for the driver is on the steering wheel. That tiny volume on the passenger side allows the passenger to control the volume.
Fough is the perfect word to describe the Land Rover 😂
Amazing off road..but don't take it where you take your Wrangler
Brilliant technology...when it works
We absolutely love these....we had 3 and still couldn't get one that worked
😂😂
Oh, come on, you know exactly how it's amazing offroad, though not as well-protected and "nothing to break" as Wrangler. It can do pretty much whatever standard Rubicon can, except you risc to damage more in case of driver's mistake, but it also can steer pretty well, it doesn't have as much aerodynamic noise at high speeds, it rides better, has better interior and is a little roomier. The only other vehicle on the market that can do it all is Grand Cherokee
Faux.
Happy with the screen size. My 110 interior is brilliant.
As a Disco V TD6 and Grenadier Trialmaster owner I can tell you the Grenny has durability. The LR drives a little better but the Grenny is much more fun to own and something you'll keep forever.
These have gone the way of Jeep and Broncos. The need to focus so much on the on-roadness that the off-roadness becomes this exotic engineering. And because of that, they are priced right out the door. The days of the CJ, the Isuzu Amigo or even the Samauri are sadly gone. Hell, even the Small trucks are priced out of existence. I would love to pick up an expensive second vehicle for off-roading but they don't exist other than the used market.
Probably the widest breadth of range across the most areas can anything else be as good soft road off road and on rod sort range long range ?
The white roof and steel wheels on the Defender remind me of the new Bronco Sport
For the price, does it compete with a Bronco? I'm curious. An Expedition is far more similarly equipped but how would they compare for the average Defender owner? I want to like it, but I'd be afraid of the reliability and cost of ownership numbers. Dealer network availability is also a concern for when things do go wrong. But she is a sexy beast...
I personally still love the new Defender and would definitely chose it over the Ineos if i wanted a more rugged vehicle then id simply buy a restored old Defender :)
I've seen the marketing livery before. It's for some gentleman landowner in Britain to haul his hunting dogs.
should be a good year, with this ,then the ineos, and GX, and LandCrusier.
Personally, I don’t care about 0-60 in a truck, it’s not a vette… and most vehicles are pretty acceptable today…. But I would love to see more reviewers checking sound decibels at highway speed because for what these things cost not many people are gonna find deafening road noise acceptable… another channel I recently viewed is doing it and it’s truly helpful and surprising at what vehicles are very quiet at highway speed…
I just got a P300 110 two weeks ago. It's very quiet; much quieter than my previous car, a P250 Discovery Sport .
@@msalzberg4962 As it should be too! Isn't Discovery Sport a Ford Kuga underneath?
@@billybob1511 The Disco Sport and the Kuga share the same ancestral background (the Ford EUCD platform). However, it's been heavily modified over the years by Land Rover; supposedly only 10% of the chassis is the same. In genealogy terms, they're somewhere between 1st cousins, and 1st cousins once removed.
I really like the new Defender but that rear door isn't something I would want to live with, especially with the swing on the traffic side instead of curbside
I thought that was because it's designed for England, but the Wrangler's rear door is hinged the same way.
That rear door opens to the curb in country's that drive on the right like the US. Not a great design for us, but great for those in England. 😉
@@davva360Unless I'm missing something, I think that's what he meant. Swing direction wise, it's a bad design for 2/3 of the world's market, including the US and all of North America, actually most of the Americas. In addition to the other deficits of the design he did note, I was expecting Nate to mention that aspect as he was opening it. Only good for Great Britain and its existing and former colonies and others historically strongly so-influenced, and Japan. Oddly, they're not the only ones, some Americans including Jeep as well. Some fanboys have countered that (in left-hand drive countries) in case of a changing a tire on the road, with traffic it's safer to remove the tire.... but wouldn't/ couldn't you remove it before you swing the door to begin with? (And that argument doesn't hold with the right hand drive world then.). I've seen enough of these, I just think it's not on some designers' / engineers' radar. And in this case, as well as vehicles like the Lexus GX to-date, they (the accountants) are obviously catering more to their domestic markets, the others be damned. Other than that aspect, swing open gates are also problematic for loading / unloading in tight on-street parking, other limited clearance situations.
Countries. Gotta love public education.
The sticker says "County" not Country.
Much rather have the new GX
I like the white top and wheels, but the white rear door looks like you had to replace the door with a junk yard special.
Hey guys. Great video. Love the defenders. However, that sticker says “County” not country. 😂
“What me? You’ve got to be crazy!” 😅
Are the 20” steelies original from Land Rover or aftermarket? I thought JLR only made those in 16”.
More like a 3 on trails, unless you add some underbody and rock rails. It kicks the bronco and jeep to the curb with its 7-8k towing.
like it the white on the roof to the back door , no 3rd row , this the ineos, the new Lexus GX550 overtrial , 4 runner , new LC1958 only good mid size 4x4's , as the rest in the rear wheel drive base suv -midsize models are all luxury or are more sport than utility
I've had 3 LR products, each left me stranded at least 2 times. They are rated the worst on reliability because they simply are. However, out of 42 vehicles I've owned I still loved driving the LR's the most. Now , call me insane , doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time. I want a Defender. The dealership is by far the worst of the experience. I couldn't believe how shitty they made me feel. You get nothing from LR sales people but condescending attitudes regarding how much they think they owe you nothing and you should just buy the thing with their own poor financing, high interest rates, pay MSRP etc. The majority of their cars are on their lots for 4 months or more and they haven't caught on to the fact that it is no longer a sellers market. Even Toyota will work with you. They are like the super models of trucks. They are just so hot and irresistible but offer you nothing but heartache. Yet, here I go again, I guess I'm just a masochist.
You are insane.
2 Rovers and 20yrs of ownership and neither has left me stranded...knocks on wood! 😅.. They can be temperamental at times, but both of mine have always gotten me home.
Please get therapy! 🆘
@@MisterMikeTexas I am a therapist! LOL
Did you guys keep calling this the Country?..... I believe it's the County. Also, yes the rear gate a major fail on all fronts except for some the spare-on-door look/function. I swore Nate was going to mention as he swung it open that it also swings the wrong way--AGAINST the curb--for 2/3 of the world's market, including US / North America. Swing open gates also a mean problematic loading / unloading with tight on-street parking or other situations like inside garage, door down.
I love the volume knob being over on the right, it allows the passenger to adjust the volume. Driver has the controls on the wheel, why do they need the knob?
Face it, it's a dumb location, put it in the middle then, duh, equal access. Some just like to use the knob instead of wheel, out of habit/intuitive from 60+ automotive industry standard, using the wheel to concentrate on driving, some like to use both (either) depending on driving situation Etc.
Driver can adjust volume as well on left side on the steering wheel…..😊
Ooh, it has the (off brand) County Pack.
Great video and solid truck. I do feel that it should be named something else as the title of Defender now goes to Bronco, which is everything Land Rover could have made but didn't. Except for the crappy interior. Rough, square, somewhat crude, capable and most importantly SQUARE. Gerry McGovern really dropped the ball on this one.
Are my eyes going bad? Because that looks like county not country?
I’m sure that aluminum unibody is great for crawling over rocks.
I'm thinking a batch of labels were misspelled, so they realized the need for both a "Country" and a "County" package!
"County", not "Country"....🙂@0:14
2024 I Wish I Had 110 V8 For This Week Arctic Winter Blast.
If Tommy can wheel this rig up Red Cone Trail successfully without running out of inflated tires, maybe I might buy the argument about it being "King".
Nothing has changed about the fact that this rig won't accept 18" rims or tires with sufficient sidewall to make it up rocky trails. It's still a damn mall crawler.
Wow! This new ford mini bronco is growing on me.
Defender was released before Bronco !
Aw. You can’t afford the defender.
The only way i would choose the defender is when I'm shopping for ineos grenadier because defender is way cheaper🤣 either way i would choose wrangler and the bronco because they are more utilitarian like how the defender should have.
Y'all don't realise that nameplate is just a nameplate, and what y'all got is a completely new vehicle, and it shouldn't be judged based on what the car that also had that name was. Like you don't think all Johns are stuepid because you had a straight F student named John in your class. This is not a BoF Defender's successor, that old tractor was discontinued, and this new handsome SUV simply took the unused name.
prior to 2021. I don't recall dealer markups being an issue. Thought the supply chain thing worked itself out. Why are there still markups?
No need to wait for your ineos. They’re sitting on lots from customers that ended up bailing on there orders. That’s how I got mine the first week it was on sale.
TATA must be paying you for this glowing review 😳
Is it a Country Edition? The decal on the driver’s side door says

Saw that too, though given the Land Rover quality, the sticker could be misspelled.
@@Deadwood1919
I’m afraid the sticker is correct. Well sort of. This isn’t a County model variant as it only has the [misleading] sticker. However Land Rover has a very long history of having variants called County Station Wagons. This was the top of the range 12 seat station wagon variant of the then new OneTen that I bought in 1984. It had the luxuries of power steering and cloth seats and coloured wheel arches and stripes, but not much else.
"Country" pack Roman?.... looks like either your or I need to have our glasses checked :P
Just a matter of time before it breaks down and the problems start. Haha you went through three engines. Never heard of another manufacturer that has this level of reliability.
