  • The reign of King Aegon V is often overlooked by the likes of the 4th Blackfyre Rebellion, Summerhall and the way in which he came to the throne. But when you dig a little deeper much of the issue Aegon would face during his time on the Iron Throne came from his attempt to reform Westeros to the betterment of the smallfolk and reluctance of his lords. As a result it is said he spent much of his reign in armour putting down uprising after uprising. The small folk loved there king, it seems the lords who's support is vital not so much.

    so i've just noticed on my map near the bay of crabs some of the text from the old version of it has somehow appeared the 'bs' i have no idea how long it's been like that. i guess i must have accidentally edited the wrong one and saved over the source file , not sure. Anyway have fixed it now and it's currently in the process of saving. Issue with my workflow is even tiny changes on the map takes a long time given the file size is over 26gb on the full resolution master copy. Anyway as long as Premier Pro and After Effects don't have a meltdown with the change the map should be back to normal next video.

      Then he torched his family with Summerhall. Had he succeeded, he would have been the male version of Daenerys, a tyrannical dragon using his will to force change under the cloak of righteousness.

    You can see how Egg was forced to face reality fast when he became King. He had peered behind the curtain from his sheltered early youth and seen how hard life was for the vast majority of the people he ruled over. He hoped to be a champion for them and show other nobles the way-forgetting that many were not as blind as he had been, but instead were coldly pragmatic and selfish in clinging to power. Every failure makes him more desperate-as a boy prince far removed from the throne he had been unable to do much, and even now as king he found himself unable to make the grand changes he had likely dreamed of if only the crown happened to rest on his head one day. Sadly that desperation, and his dreams of being a second Conqueror remaking the world would lead to great tragedy.

      I hate to be the one but this is not correct. Egg in comparison to other Royal Targ’s grew up as a “commoner” . Moving throughout the 7 kingdoms with a poor hedge knight, sleeping under tree’s and not in castles. Egg spent many of his younger years having to pretend he was actually not a royal for his safety. Im not saying you didnt read the 3 books but if you did I DONT SEE HOW YOU READ THEM AND CAME TO THIS CONCLUSION 😂.

    Aegon was as his grandson, he set the stage for the Targaryens to lose power as his hostilities would have still been in living memory during Aerys reign. While yes he helped the smallfolk, it didn't appear to be efficient policies since they were taken away after his reign. While yes the highborn can be stubborn, it is usually beneficial to have the highborn approval as one policy may work for the North but it can a disaster in Stormlands.

    For Lord Edwyle Stark warden of the north for Aegon Targaryen the Fifth of His Name. Marriage for love in Westeros is never good especially when your highborn crossing the wrong lord can lead to your death or maybe worse for your house later down the line. Some cases it works.

    • @kevinneutzling8267
      @kevinneutzling8267 Месяц назад +1

      That match falling apart was more due to Olenna than Daeron. Daeron was very likely gay, and Olenna saw more benefit in becoming Lady of the Reach than a princess married to a son far from the throne so she likely arranged a scandal and Daeron just went along with it. He was fairly subdued for a Targaryen prince and mostly remained unremarkable and dutiful until he died in the rebellions led by The Rat, The Hawk, and The Pig.

    Very infected by the sight of the base of the pyramid. Undermining the power of the Lords and even himself little by little, his reforms were clearly unplanned and he never let “the boy die”.
    Not only that, his obsessive search for dragons to enforce his reforms shows that what he really wanted was to transform himself into an absolutist King.

    • @WorldOfWesteros
      @WorldOfWesteros  Месяц назад +1

      What i find interesting is Dunk and Egg sets this aspect of his character up really well. From a young age he seems to of had an obsession with hatching a dragon, and we kind of see him wish he had one to enforce his will. So GRRM definitely set this aspect of his character up well
