Paul's Magmortor made me appreciate the new evolution. Such an intimidating pokemon
I was always a fan of the Gen 4 monsters
@@ProfessorAlexSilverprofesar don't u think giving Pokemon a new random evolution in next gen alters the power structure
@@Yajjay8331.you spelled professor wrong
2.some times pokémon need Evolution's to get stronger
3.Or maybe game freak's getting lazy
I like Magmortar because of its amazing design and power, but what I don’t like is that it only appears in a couple of episodes but never returned for the last years :(
I was a fan of Magmar in gen 1 as someone who didn’t pick Charmander! Was been a fan of this evolutionary line every sense!
Although Magmortar didn’t have as much screen time compared to Paul’s other Pokémon, I always considered it to be one of his signature Pokémon. I also love how Paul had both Electivire and Magmortar since they’re basically counterparts.
Speaking of Paul’s battle against Brandon, looking back, it makes sense that he had so much trouble. Look at the team he used: Nidoking, Electabuzz, Hariyama, Ursaring, Magmar, Lairon. Not really a team built for facing one of the toughest trainers in the world, he doesn’t have some of his hard hitters like Gliscor Honchkrow or Torterra. However, what he does have is a team built to face an ice type specialist, with things like Lairon and Hariyama that have Same Type Attack Bonus super effective moves, and even Electabuzz, Nidoking, and Ursaring all have fighting type attacks. This makes sense considering that he had originally been preparing to fight Candice, but challenged Brandon in the heat of the moment
Plus, I’m pretty sure most of the Pokémon he used against Brandon had yet to reach the peak of their full potential, especially since some of them were only just recently caught, and half of them weren’t even fully evolved yet. They could probably easily handle Candice, but definitely not Brandon.
I’ve always loved Magmortar ever since I first saw it in Platinum. Seeing Paul use one in the anime made me love it even more. I even used one in my main team in Legends Arceus.
Love Magmar line
"Magmortor stand by for battle" It just never got old
Stand by for battle was such a cool line
GEN four was one of my favorite generations, and the new evolved forms for old Pokemon was a big reason for that! Paul’s magmortar made we want one and an elective.
Paul’s Honchkrow next please. Also Magmortar was so unbelievably strong taking a hydro cannon to the face and surviving it
Paul’s magmar is another interesting mon in his party! Also I got nothing else to say about it all I know it was a good replacement for chimchar and I think both magmar & magmorters design suit Paul in my person opinion.
They do 😂
I loved how most of Paul's Pokemon were literal monsters
Some fun trivia, Magmortar succeeded at everything Chimchar could never do under Paul's command: it matches his stern training style, tanks super effective moves, and uses its ability without any difficulty. Thought that was some neat attention to detail knowing it was Chimchar's replacement.
That's a great observation
Paul's Magmortar was the first time i've seen the mon although i had some knowledge of it.
And i love its design, and it felt like a missed opportunity but i guess Paul wanted to rotate again.
Great class Professor for next mon i would love to see Ash's Goodra or Hawlucha
Another great video Professor Silverfox! Impeccable as always!
My pleasure!!
Thanks for the amazing video Professor Alex ❤
My pleasure :-)
Wow amazing I been waiting for magmar history for a long time! I like it! Keep up the good work ProfessorAlexSilver your amazing!😁👍❤️🧨🎈🎊
Thank you!!
No problem!
Huge fan of any Paul content so thanks a bunch Professor
I'm hoping to do some more character pieces on Paul in the future 🤙
Perhaps Paul also did the same way of evolving Magmar into Magmortar by just having it hold the Magmarizer and then let it get sent through a transfer trade machine to induce evolution just like with Goh & Scizor
Love all the videos coming consecutively
I'm hoping to get them out every Saturday, but we shall see haha
@@ProfessorAlexSilver if ur aiming to do it I think that’s already good enough, good luck 👍
Good Job On This Video!😁👍
Like always great video
Thanks :)
Earliest video I’ve been too! Loved his mqgmortar and glad they used Paul to show off both the new cross trade item evolution Pokémon along with electivire
I thought that having both gen 1 evolutions made Paul seem all the more threatening, definitely great choices by the writers to give him
Thanks for another great video, Professor! It’s a shame Magmortar didn’t get enough screentime but at least he had some good showings.
My pleasure!
Goh’s Raboot whenever you find time. I’m glad you’ve come back to weekly uploads!
Magmortar did have a limited screen history but certainly was a worthy replacement as Paul’s fire type Pokémon. Most likely Paul caught Magmortar as a Magmar and saw it was worthy of his time, defeating Maylene’s Lucario with ease and became much stronger upon evolving into Magmortar.
Nice video alex
Thanks!
Next: Ash goodra❤
Hopefully this year :)
Gran video🔥 Sugiero a la Tsareena de Lulú para uno de tus vídeos.
Saludos desde la Región Paldea🇪🇸😊
Worked out great for Paul catching a strong fire type replacing Chimchar. Magmortar viewed as one of Paul’s Multiple powerhouses. Also great that Crispin Elite four’s blueberry academy has a Magmortar as his ace I believe. This Pokémon getting more love Paul’s Magmortar will always be number one a trainer owning this pokemon.
Magmortar is one of my favorite Fire-Type Pokémon.
You must have great taste then 🤘
Same
Magmortar was a menace
Chimchar: Am I a joke yo you?
Magmar: Yes.
🤣
0:02
Pikachu: GOOD GRIEF!!! HE'S NEKKIDD
😅😅
Yep. Paul's is definitely The Most Notable One of its species to me
There is Flint's from games & manga BUT I remember more of His Infernape
So, i was about to watch the video and i came up with an alternate title... but then i realized, the clever name pun i came up with, would be the PERFECT name, for a Convergent Form/Evolution! My alternate title was: From Magmar, to Magstar. Thus, introducing...
Magstar! The Solar Flare Pokémon! A Fire/Fairy Type. Abilities- Serene Grace/Misty Surge/(HA)Costar.
I don't have any more stuff thought out for it cause i just cane up with this like 15 minutes ago.. except it will evolve!
Thanks Prof. Silver for the inspiration! (Side note: I love Magmar and Magmortar, and wish we saw more of Paul's)
Love that title
I could right a 10 hour review of my problems of this season
I know Chimchar's rival was Elekid, but it would've been cool to see it up against the Fire type that took its place in Paul's team.
In Glory Blaze, Paul told the story about how he first came across Chimchar in the wild. After witnessing its Blaze, he mentioned that Chimchar would be more powerful than ANY of his fire type Pokemon implying that he already had some Fire types (probably at his brother's house) which may have already included Magmar.
I do like your theory that perhaps being inspired by the one he fought in the Tag Battle Tournament led to him catching one to battle Maylene!
Thanks!
I wish we had more episodes of these 2
Hey Prof, I loved how you read between the lines to uncover a narrative story in this episode instead of just listing off appearances. Could you do Guzma's golisopod next? Since golisopod only had a handful of appearances could you dive deep into speculation about its backstory about how Guzma and golisopod met, its history as a wimpod, its life in Guzma's abusive home, how it evolved and its life in Po town? And could you put in a little bit of fan fiction bc many people feel that the anime missed a massive opportunity by NOT fleshing out Guzma's and golisopod's backstory and role in the anime. The duo's role in the anime feels very bare bones compared to what it could have been. By seeing how Guzma and golisopod met, how they endured physical and emotional abuse in their home, seeing them being mentored by Hola in Guzma's childhood, fleshing out his rivalry with Kukui, seeing them sun away together to form team skull and living in Po town could have made the most mature story in anime history. Maybe it would be too dark but sun and moon pulled off the stoutland dying episode and the story of Mallow;s mother.
Thanks! That could be a fun Pokemon to cover I'd have to go back and revisit it's appearances, it's been a while 😅

Magmortar is a beast...... magmortar stand by for battle is a good line
My favourite is honchkrow
"Honchkrow stand by for battle"
Paul's was pretty awesome ngl
Can you do his hunchkrow next
Hoping to cover that one in the near future
Now imagine if Paul offscreen captured a Charcadet and evolved into an Armarouge, both are Fire Types and have arm cannons that shoot fireballs. I could see Magmortar and Armarouge being great sparring partners
Magmortar and electivire are deadly duo 🔥🔥⚡⚡
That would be awesome
Ash’s buizel next
On the list!
Do Next The Complete History Of Paul's Honchkrow
If this video does well, then most definitely on my to-do list 🤘
Ash’s rowlet or lycanroc next 🙏🙏
as someone who used a magmortar in alola I love this pokemon...what sucks is it evolves through trading holding a magmarizer...I used sunny day on my Magmorter to boost it's fire moves
Could u do Paul’s Honchkrow next?
It's definitely on my to-do list, but won't quite be next
Love How magmortar is the perfect counter to close quarters pokemon
Flame body is such a devastating special ability
I loved how paul utilized abilities in their battles
3;30 The aftermath doesn't appear in the subtitles. I was wondering what you said. I think Horizons has passed.
3:30
Magmortar is one of my top 10 favorite Sinnoh Pokemon. Though I wonder how the scenario would play out if Ash obtained a Magmortar of his own after witnessing Paul's.
I hope the next time we see Paul his Ursaring evolves into Ursaluna.
YES
huh, i didn't think you'd do this one as he had less appearances then electivire
and hey why not do cilan's pansage next?, i feel there's a reason why it didn't evolve
I'll cover him some day, got to share the love in the meantime
@@ProfessorAlexSilver yup
Was magary caught in kanto? After all he did travel through kanto so he could caught it there and added it to his rotation after gorly blaze
Considering Magmortar was basically infernape’s replacement, I feel it was slightly underutilized.
Paul really gotten a lot stronger with his other Pokémon he is one of the best rivals of ash 🔥
He's the venom to Ash's Spider-Man 🤘
Us, as fans: "Yay, a Magmortar! This new guy's going to get an epic rivalry with one of Ash's Pokémon, just like Magmar did with Charizard, right?"
Writers: *Silent*
Fans: Right...?!
Lol
It would’ve been great to see Magmortar’s personality and maybe even participate in the league against Ash. It could’ve been focused on attacking and be showing to be sadistic, worrying even Paul’s other pokémon but he’d see it as a strength.
Later in Journeys’ Paul episode, we could see that Paul’s Magmortar abandoned him since it still sees kindness as a weakness. This episode would end with Paul trying to explain he will still push his pokémon to the limits but know being mindful of their feelings and stop when going too far. However, Magmortar would still attack him, thinking that this was a weak trait as he left for good, teaching Paul and Infernape what kind of sadistic & distant people they could’ve become.
A Infernap vs Magmortar match would prove who is the best fore type
I would have loved that
Paul may have been a massive jerk in diamond and pearl but he certainly showcased his skill as a trainer in how he made his mamgar turned magmortar into an impressive powerhouse. Using only 10 days to improve how magmar was against Brandon to the intimidating magmortar, who tanked attacks from a buizel and empoleon like it was nothing. Imagine if Paul was to return, a second time post journeys, magmortar would probably look forward to a rematch against Brandon’s Registeel.
Paul and his Pokémon probably ate the Skarmory that Magmortar burned to a crisp.
Knowing paul, I wouldn't be surprised
@@ProfessorAlexSilver 😁
NICE.. never really talk about him
Hopefully this starts the conversation haha
I always thought that Paul's Magmorter was underrated. In the shadow of his ursaring, torterra and Electivire. But I like it as a pokemon and how menacing it was in its battle with Ash
I think Paul’s Magmortar was cool and l wish it got a ash rematch were either Infernape or Buizel could win against it and do Bianca’s Emboar next.
Paul is the only trainer I could think of having multiple aces rather than just (sure alain did have tyranatar and metagross etc)
But Paul's pokemon were proven tanks( like Urasaring,Magmortar,Tortera,
Electivire,Drapion, even honchcrow tanking supereffective hits from Ash's Staraptor)
Ashs entire journeys team are aces and superior to Paul’s team
But drapion and ursaring were certainly the true aces
Alain's psuedo were pretty weak
The only one who comes close to charizard as an ace is his bisharp
@@Jranthony04I mean Ash was in the finals, and featured in 20-23 seasons at that point, so he had to have a powerful ace like team at that point
Whereas Paul just had 1 season managed to get that amount of aces
@@laxusstrauss5945forgot to add his bisharp there.
I would love to see Infernape Fighting against Magmortor. It would to prove Paul that he didn’t see Chimchar’s potential after switching out with magmar.
Magmortar was fire 🔥
That it was 🤙
Magmortar is such a cool looking Pokémon, also Torcoal stood more of a chance against Registeel than Magmar.
I thought that showed how powerful torkoal was as a Pokemon, did it lasted so long was a great testament to its strength
You know flint has a magmotor
@@ProfessorAlexSilverIt shows that Torcoal is stronger than most people say, and I like that because I like Ash’s Torcoal, tears and all.
I loved paul's magmar/magmortar but indeed such a shame we dindt see it more often in the anime
Please Please do Claire's Gyarados, and also to as well also Olivia's Lycanroc for a couple of brand new Pokemon's Videos Coming up very soon!
I think a complete history on Claire by herself would be a really fun one to tackle
Paul's Magmortor is I think one of those who's scary enough not to need much development
That's a good way to put it lol
Ah yes. Paul’s replacement for Chimchar
Hope you enjoyed it!
Today's my birthday today Professor! 🎂🥳
Happy birthday!
Do The Complete History Of Ash's Butterfree
The History of Dawn's Piplup
Some day!
Having ash snivy would be nice, she has such an attitude and great character overall
She's high on my to-do list
Love Magmar line
Same here, I've always dug them since the battle with Blaine
Magmortor is most powerful fire type of all time
I think Leon's Charizard may have it beat 😅
If I did Pokémon BD & SP, I’d like to complete the full game while playing as Paul
Close 100k❤
Inching my way there haha
It was a mistake to not have Magmortar return in the Pokemon League match Ash vs Paul. Magmortar looked so strong and having lose as the replacement would have added more emotion. Ursaring didn't appear either but that was defeated in Lake Acuity.
It was definitely an interesting choice for the writers not to bring back Paul's more iconic Pokemon. I'm guessing that they didn't want the battle to seem redundant, but I think that could have been fixed by having different matchups than what we saw before
Stand by for battle
Such a cool opening line
Could you do ash's corphish pls his my favorite pokemon on his hoenn team
Working on that one :-)
The Complete History of Gary's Electivire. ⚡
That'll be a fun one someday
Won't lie but magmar and elecabuzz looks scary n invincible when they got only 1 evolution line
Still remembers the fear magmar brought during his debut against pikachu
I wouldn't have been upset if they never evolved, but I do love how they look in there upgraded forms, they're both monstrous
Ahhh Electavire's backup dancer
That's one way to put it haha
Looking back at it, Magmortar could've been a good rival for Infernape instead of Electivire and Electivire could've served as Pikachu's main rival for it to beat.
Magmortar should of been on Paul's ultimate team
It was a very strong alternate for my lineup
Next ash litten
Magmortar should I have came back for journeys on Paul’s last episode
I would have been all for that, but at the same time, I was super satisfied with the Pokemon Paul used
I imagine Paul's Magmortar vs Ash's Charizard in the fiery battle!
I'd love to see that showdown, especially if they had callbacks to the battle with Blaine
Do tserena
That'd be a fun one, I need to revisit her storyline
❤
More to come!!
Hey can you do Ash's Snivy pls?
High on my list :)
@@ProfessorAlexSilver wow thanks for replying to me
Which one is the next one will come out?
I might do something more out of the box next time, or another short history. I'm building back up to the longer characters. I'm hoping by October or November, I'll have some lengthy vids ready
@@ProfessorAlexSilver ok.
Electabuzz and Magmar got evolutions in Gen 4. Why didn't Jynx?
Might have just been a lack of overall popularity due to the controversy
@@ProfessorAlexSilver that might fly if all three didn't get a pre-evolution in Gen 2
Ash’s Talonflame! 🙂
On the list!
Well that was a short one
Short and sweet can't be beat

I'll do that one someday!
I know his Magmortar was Modest nature. Paul didn’t play when it came to EV’s & IV’s
Quite possibly, although he seemed pretty aggressive lol
Now we want JYNX evolution
