What isn’t talked about is that Sejun Park’s Magmar had a illegal iv spread of 31 in every stat except Attack which isn’t possible to generate back in XD
@@av2279it’s a bit complicated, but it has to do with how Shadow Pokemon are generated in pokemon XD. From what I understand, all non-shadow pokemon have a fixed gender and a fixed nature, but they DONT have a fixed personality value, or PID(this is the magic number that creates all of the other components of a pokemon, like the nature and gender and abilities.) Now this means every time a non-shadow pokemon is “made” (generated for a team), it has to generate a PID and it’s IVs by making calls to the RNG seed. Basically what this means is the game creates some random number when you boot it up, and then this is put into a formula with a bunch of other variables like time since boot up, to produce a random number. If the game generates an invalid PID (I.e, the nature and gender do not match the fixed requirements) it will reject that PID then make a new one by calling to the RNG again. Once the PID is made, the game can then move on to the IVs, which are made the exact same way. There’s no rejection criteria for the IVs. Now, where this gets interesting, is that the calls to RNG have to happen sequentially. Once you make the call for the first pokemons PID, all subsequent calls for the IVs and PIDs for the rest of the team have to be made right then and there. Essentially, this means the possible PIDs and IVs of the entire enemy team are tied to the PID of the first pokemon. They have to be a possible sequence that follows that combination of RNG seed and PID. Think, for example, I have a formula X+t=Y, where X is some number you choose, and t is the amount of times you try to make a number. You choose X is 5, and you want to find the 3rd number made. That third number will always be 8. The PIDs are divided equally among possibilities. There’s 25 equally possible natures, and for pokemon with a 50/50 gender ratio there’s 2 possible genders. Because the non shadows are locked to 1 gender and 1 nature, that’s 1/25*1/2 of the total possible PIDs are going to be accepted. Because the shadow pokemon’s PID and IVs are going to be directly generated in sequence with one of those 2% of all possible sequences, that effectively means a shadow pokemon generated after one non shadow pokemon has access to only 2% of all possible gender, ability, and IV combinations of a typical pokemon generated in a normal game. This gets further reduced as more and more non shadow pokemon get generated before the shadow pokemon. If a shadow pokemon is the third to be generated and the 2nd pokemon is a different nature, then you only have 2% of that 2% of possibilities. And it gets even WORSE. All trainer pokemon in XD are NEUTRAL NATURES. Which means you only have access to 25% of the PIDs PERIOD., regardless of what pokemon is generated first. What this ALLLL culminates into, is that there is no possible input into any possible RNG seed that will contain a string of numbers which could result in the team the magmar is encountered in AND give the magmar those stats.

My Magmar from my Gold Version team, "Goober" (derived from Magmar's Japanese name "Boober" yes I'm serious look on Serebii), is possibly the only of my eligible Pokémon from older games who I DIDN'T give an Eviolite. I ran him as a mixed attacker on my Sunny Day team that I used against Amarys. I was sad he didn't get to do more in that fight, but he still fought hard. I've been very happy to start learning from Wolfey, bc he thinks the same as I do: unpredictably is PARAMOUNT in winning a conflict. I've been hoping that one day, I might enter some competitive tournaments using my Pokémon. I've been replaying the whole series (not each individual version, mind you) and only have X, Sun, and the GameCube games left. I mixed up my gen 1-5 teams to make 5 unique teams for the Indigo Disk BB League members, and it was SO much more fun than if I'd just steamrolled with my Sword, BD, Legends, and Scarlet 'Mons who are already level 100. Counting together my teams from Red, Gold, Sapphire, LeafGreen, Diamond, HeartGold, Black 1 & 2, Sword, BrilliantDiamond, Legends: Arceus, and Scarlet, I'm currently at... 78 unique team members? 56 of which are compatible with/in Scarlet. By the end, I'll have 96 (I'm getting 3 from each Game Cube game; I'm playing them with a friend) by the time I'm caught up. I want to someday enter a series of tournaments using ONLY these Pokémon; no others. I hate relying on legendaries because it just feels dumb and boring and lame and cringe. I commented this on the original Stream but I think your first opponent was watching the stream. Every time you lock in moves, or at least said what moves you were going to lock in before 30 seconds, he made the perfect counter. Every time you took longer to decide, he suddenly made worse decisions, often ones that would be better, had you gone with your original idea for that turn.
I made a BDSP team around Magmar because I saw it gets slower when it evolves, and I wanted to have fun by using Belly Drum on an uncommon Pokémon. I couldn’t make it work without just bringing other incredibly strong Pokémon that were kind of weighed down by Magmar. But I still love him!

i wanna hear Wolfe be the announcer in a pokemon stadium game, his narrations are hilarious and incredibly informative
dude i dont know if you read comments but ive watched your videos for about 3 years now and its amazing information. You make really good content, thank you. Snorlax is the GOAT of all mons I think you know this as well so thank you again. later man
Was not expecting the impromptu Rob Thomas reference midway through. Excellent video as always Wolfe!
Every single time this guy does something "yeah that was a bad play"
I love this video since Magmar is my favourite pokemon ever since the anime episode where Charizard faces Magmar inside a volcano
So happy to see it getting some love here
4:07 The image of Magmar exiled into the snow goes kinda hard ngl
I'm always happy to see a set go to game 3 instead of being a clean sweep... as a viewer it's just so much more exciting (but I understand how stressful this must be for players).
That Pokémon ranger name drop just brought back so many memories it’s insane. Totally forgot about that game lol.
"Follow me cant be ignored by anything accept a stapler"
the propeller fish in question:
That video is beautifull, the edits and the magmar shaped background, master piece
I love Magmar so much. Ty for bringing light to my boy
I appreciate you Wolfey Thanks for this 🙏 ❤that determination when you realized Follow ME was back and the fact you instinctly locked in to redeem .It motivates me to really get into VGC thats my ultimate dream that i will make a reality .
Now, enter a tournament with Sceptile. He's the evolution of my favorite, and I'd love to see it get a taste of the Wolfey Magic.
Moxie just made a sceptile video
Sceptile is so dog shit that treeco and grovyle are better
@@stein46 perfect timing
yo your story scripting is getting really fire. It helps keep me entertained and focus on the story, and I admittedly don't know the competitive scene well. You make me understand more.
I love when Wolfey goes into commentator mode
dachsbun is the best pokemon from scarlet and violet and someone with influence HAS to promote dachsbun and showcase the amazing defensive support/hidden sweeper talents it has so people stop being mean to me for using him
The chocobo music starting when Wolfe brings up Galarian Zapdos was *chef’s kiss*
Finally, it's done. The video has released. I am so pumped to watch it!
1:04 I except your chalange. I will use Gliscor in every showdown team!
taunt is also a great move i use a lot on magmar since prio taunt is denied by a lot of abilitys in the current format, regular taunt is really strong imo :)
Wolfey: preaches how he got that world champ diff
Wolfey when he clutches victory from the jaws of defeat: Surprised pikachu face
2 minutes in and I've already heard a Yo-Kai Watch song and a Mother 3 song. You, my friend, are a keeper!
The first mainline game I ever played was Platinum. I was a really dumb kid, so I struggled really hard and never beat Cynthia. The only Pokémon I remember having are Torterra and a level 80-something Magmar.
Thank you for redeeming our boy.
9:04 Ahhh, gotta love the GOATed Hades music in the background. ❤
I recommend using a team I made! Using Haunter with the ability Levitate for it's weakness to Ground type attacks. With the item Iron Ball. Using the moves Rest, Trick, Destiny Bond, and Sunny Day/Rain Dance. Using a Wide Guard pokemon to protect it while it is slow and use Trick or Destiny Bond on a pokemon threating your team. But, I can't think of teamates so i'll let you decide!
Initial impressions is that team is scuffed but I'm interested to see how it goes with Wolfey commanding them
I love exclusive Event Moves. It's fflun surprising opponents in casual wifi battles 😄
I wish I enjoyed playing competitive Pokemon half as much as I enjoy watching Wolfey and Joey play competitive Pokemon.
“So long gay Bowser”, Terminalmintage, I see you are a person of culture aswell
Fun fact: Pichu, Squirtle and Jirachi could use FollowMe, but only from old events. I have all 3
There's always a new hour long video when I need to travel, Wolfey is really comsiderate
I swear wolfey is constantly listening to the game soundtracks I’m listening to. Some of his older videos? Ace attorney music. This video? The mother 3 F-F-Fire! Song is playing. It’s so creepy
Edit. Apparently I missed the Yokai watch music, which I’m also playing at the moment
It was fun seeing you have fun
0:37 Yo-kai Watch ost mentioned, we winning boys
Is infernape a strong option when wanting to counter Palafin and Dondozo?
Please reply
No actually. Infernape is fire type
Dondozo and palafin are water types
Water puts out fire, therefor
Water beats fire.
Type matchups baby

Wolfey is such a good commentator, it's so exciting to hear him
Next enter a tournament with the 6 most iconic pokemon ever
Magmar has been one of my favorite Pokemon since its first appearance in the anime. Love to see it do well.
was so great to play against you in Round 3, you‘re so great as a player. Never would have imgagined the outcome of this battles 😅

...Wolfe. Why do you hate me so much to trigger EVERY FEAR INSTINCT IN MY BRAIN WITH THAT SONG
How did wolfey actually hit every meteor beam into a protect? It must be fate at this point. Never run meteor beam again lmao
