Wolfey not setting up trick room and not using Helping Hand/ Decorate to buff Nuclear Hyper voice several times was so funny to me because Wolfey sets up a strat then choses not use it
Dark void being lowered to 50% accuracy is actually entirely fair because of its multitargeting Pre nerf, 80% accuracy on dark void meant you had a 64% chance of putting both opponents to sleep and 32% chance to hit one, a terrifying 96% total chance to hit *something* with a sleeping move that grass types aren't immune to, just a 4% chance to whiff. Landing both opponents in a dark void was more likely than landing a single hypnosis, which is obviously bonkers busted. Post nerf, 50% accuracy causes a very even split: 25% chance to put both opponents to sleep, 50% chance to hit one, and 25% chance to miss. This is still potentially an on-the-spot game win if the opponent has no out to it, especially since Bad dreams breaks sashes and sturdy, but the lower consistency makes it less dominating. My guess for the accuracy nerf is just in case the pokemon company ever decided to host a format with mythicals allowed, they don't want a format dominated entirely by who wins a scarf Darkrai speed tie
@@flipr52 In singles. In doubles, which is where Dark void was really a problem, dark void is still overall better because of the potential double sleep.
Since its nerf, Dark Void has never been usable in doubles, and Hypnosis is better in singles. Personally I feel like the best solution would be to have its accuracy be 80 when hitting only a single pokemon.
@@RainMarrlen Well, really the best option is just replacing sleep and freeze with the much less broken drowsy and frostbite from legends, then the horribly toxic double sleep would be gone and dark void would be entirely manageable, just strong. For whatever reason they didn't do that in gen 9. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens in gen 10 though.
The giraffe was huuuuge. Most of the teams were so dependent on priority moves on their rillas, incins, urshis and raging bolts that it really really shut them down.
i did actually enjoy the 2016 metagame as a whole, apart from one thing. Moody as an ability in a format as powerful as 2016 was, could lose you games and sets if your opponent got lucky RNG calls. Dark Void you could deal with during teambuilding to a good extent, moody luck was one thing you couldn't really control and losing to an evasion/accuracy boost or a speed boost even with smeargle's support moves wasn't a fun time. I got some of my best in life tournament finishes during that season and hoo boy smeargle was definitely something.
I gotta admit that as a spectator, VGC 2016 was one of my favourite years to watch/experience live and smeargle was a big part of it. Sometimes a match was almost guaranteed lost and a speed/evasion/accuracy boost turned it on its head, making it more thrilling/exciting to watch because of its unpredictibility. The reactions of the players and casters to some of this unfairs turns was priceless. Obviously, this was extremely infuriating and unfair for the players, and felt more like gambling than actual skill. Competitive play should always focus on the welfare of its players and not their spectators, so it's for the best that it was nerf even though it was so fun to watch.
I been learning japanese for a little bit now, and i cannot stress enough how hilarious it is to me that articuno's name is japanese is literally "furiza" in katakana, which translates to "freezer"😭

We have been blessed by another well-timed wolf glicke video, thanks so much wolfey! Keep up with the amazing content
Really tight editing on this one, skipping team preview and having battles flow together directly really keeps the pace up
Missed opportunity to call going to the void going to the shadow realn
Wolfey not setting up trick room and not using Helping Hand/ Decorate to buff Nuclear Hyper voice several times was so funny to me because Wolfey sets up a strat then choses not use it
Dark void being lowered to 50% accuracy is actually entirely fair because of its multitargeting
Pre nerf, 80% accuracy on dark void meant you had a 64% chance of putting both opponents to sleep and 32% chance to hit one, a terrifying 96% total chance to hit *something* with a sleeping move that grass types aren't immune to, just a 4% chance to whiff.
Still 50% accuracy is horrible, scarf on a status is bad and I can think of a lot counters to this
Darkrai now has to run Hypnosis instead of Dark Void. That's how messed up it is.
No you dont get the vision
Own tempo tera normal smeargle choice band
Thundurus swagger
I love the little sketches of the Pokemon in the team overview. They remind me of Cassette Beasts's party menu tape art for its monsters.
Let's goo it's saturday! Wolfey video
i did actually enjoy the 2016 metagame as a whole, apart from one thing.
For me, Smeargle was the worst part of watching VGC 2016 for the reasons you paid out.
Not me trying to watch this right away and Wolfey's Indianapolis live cast at the same time
22:47 if i am correct the ursaluna can kill dragapult 8 TIMES OVER. This one attack can kill 8 dragapults...
I been learning japanese for a little bit now, and i cannot stress enough how hilarious it is to me that articuno's name is japanese is literally "furiza" in katakana, which translates to "freezer"😭
0:18 Magikarp: Am I joke to you
Magikarp is banned from LL due to Dragon Rage
I doubt magikarp is a competitive pokemon
I’ve never seen the rock type ivy cudgel animation before this LOL
When is regulstion G calyrex clefairy vid
"They have Farbeagle on the field"
-he says, without even flinching
>proceeds to call it Farbeagle for the whole battle
I don't know why that amused me so much :D
Bro made a 2 hour video about Smeargle😭
The painter dog, the singer bear, the sculptor ogre and the intern designer giraffe
I love them
i remember when Adolf the Smeargle commited war crime on the VGC scene by putting all the Jused Pokemon to sleep
Something I always love about Wolfe is that he uses slightly unorthodox teams even disregarding the spotlight pokemon (Smeargle in this video.) Its really nice to see his slightly odd teams beat what is essentially the same team with maybe slight variations every time, its refreshing.
What The Smeargle Doin?
...
Things Worse Than Warcrimes?!
I love seeing the pokemon actually wearing the items, it's so cute
Smeargle be like:
Mustard?... how about mustard gas?
Genneva convention?.. more like genneva suggestion
Come fight my child soldiers!!!
"This artist is actually a war criminal" heard that before
I ADORE SMEARGLE
Anyone else get caught up and hype in the moment even more than usual because this man can provide top quality play by play on his own gameplay 😂😂😂
Smeargle is smeargle he is omnipotent.
Indeed.
When Wolfey start "please-please-please-please" or "crit-crit-crit-crit" is when you know he seriuosly thinks he is going to lose.
This is officially the fastest I’ve ever found a video after release
6 views, man wolfey fell off…
800 in 3 minutes
Overused joke
No lifetime views, man hungryhippoman5977 fell off
Prime Wolfey would've 5 gazillion views by now
That person you faced at 56:00 had all Shinys. That is dedication to the look.
I just wanna shout out the BB Bandits theme from Fossil Fighters in the introduction talking about Smeargle. That team has a dog who looks *very* similar, and also gets up to no good. Truly an inspired choice
Words can’t describe how happy I am to hear the Fawful theme song for Smeargle. Fits perfectly. He has fury!!!
