I don’t see why anyone would it wasn’t that long ago since Iris and Axew were just rookies and in such a short time frame they became the champions of the Unova region and was able to rival the strength of *Cynthia’s* Garchomp to the point where Haxorus had lost to its mega
I remember watching the black and white anime and seeing Axew battle Cynthia's Garchomp and thinking how it would be amazing to see Axew battling Garchomp as a fully evolved Haxorus. They're just two somewhat similar looking amazing dragon type Pokemon that I love. Hats off to journey's for finally making that into a reality. The growth both Iris and Axew have had since then is nothing short of impressive. Scraggy would be proud of his buddy now. 😄
Iris' journey with Axew/Haxorus to become the Unova Champion should be made into a special or a movie. Nobody else from Ash's companions ever achieved something this great, yet we have no idea how it happened.
I know it will never happen, but I would love an either short animation or even just a montage of Iris's journey to becoming a champion. Building up her team, training with Clair in Johto and maybe even at one point she did become the Opelucid City gym leader but then decided to aim higher and defeat all of the gym leaders, the elite four and Alder. All battles in which I wish we could see.
I personally would have to guess that she eventually did become the Opelucid gym leader at some point, as she was the only character to be a gym leader in the games that never was shown in that role in the anime. Also, as was revealed in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, a gym leader can challenge the champion of their respective region for a shot at taking their title if they are able to win, which is probably what happened with Iris at some point, we just never got to see it. If this is correct (this is just speculation, however), it would mean that she did take the position as Opelucid city's gym leader at some point before becoming champion
If I had to guess, she may have been traveling around during the first half of XY, and her training with Clair may not have been that long since she's already learned so much. It's unknown how long the gap was between XY and SM, so she may have taken up the role of gym leader during that time. I'd like to think she may have become the Unova champion around the time Ash won the Alola League.
Iris' Haxorus is actually MY Fave Dragon-type of Iris EVEN BEFORE Journeys. I'm happy that NOT ONLY He Fully Evolved BUT ALSO gained Strength enough to be Her Ace. If there was ONE nitpick, I wish we got to see that kind of growth from Axew in BW Series. At least even seeing Axew evolve to Fraxure at the end 🐉

I always wanted this since it was revealed so early on that Axew definitely did want to evolve, and seeing it happen, even if it only got as far as Fraxure by the end of Best Wishes, would've been a great way to show it's growth. Unfortunately, it felt like it got pretty shafted later on, as after it learned outrage, it seemed like it forgot the move after the battle since it didn't use it again until Iris's return in Journeys (making it feel pointless at the time and only being used as plot armor), and I also felt that she was written to catch Dragonite as a way to make it so they didn't have to evolve Axew anymore so it could stay cute and marketable for as long as possible
The fact its dragon pulse was trading blows equally with cynthias garchomp while mega evolved is insane cuz a supee tired regular garchomp was equal to a super tired mega lucario so haxorus is insane

Seeing how much little Axew grew to the mighty haxorus it is today and Iris grow from one of the most obnoxious and often hypocritical characters in the series to a humble champion that rivals Cynthia was incredibly satisfying. My only qualm is that I wish we could’ve seen a flashback episode of Axew evolving to Fraxure and haxerous and triumphing against Alder’s Boufalant So that such an epic moment would not only be left to our imagination

Hehe. Little Axew... The cutest thing in Unova... Turned into one epic dragon. I wish we could have gotten a mini-series to show more of his evolution into Haxorus and got more of a reunion between him and Ash's Pokémon. Overall, he was a great character and full of personality. A likeable cutie.

I my opinion haxorus is the most special champion's pokemon out there, considering the fact that iris made all the the way to the master's 8 without any use of mega evolution, z move or gigantamax. I think iris and haxorus' gimmick is there strong bond and connection to each other
It was nice to see Iris have a second match against Cynthia & her Garchomp, as it really shows how far Iris had come. And even though Iris didn't defeat Cynthia and her mega Garchomp, it shows Iris had come very far from their previous battle.
Although i skipped A LOT of the BW anime at first watch i really loved Iris's Axew and his rivalry with Scraggy it was adorable and funny. Also it was great to see him grow and become not only a good battler but the Ace of her team also we don't talk about Lost at the League...that episode is better left forgotten. And when i saw his match against Cynthia's Garchomp in journeys recently HOLY SMOKES IT WAS AMAZING without a single gimmick he was close to the power of the pseudo legendary of nightmares. This was a good class professor now we're done with Iris should we go with Cilan's mons (Pansage because what did Stunfisk did aside from existing)
I've been with Iris since the beginning She's always been close to me since BnW2 was my 1st pokemon games but that's another story. I loved watching all her progress. Times of a little girl playing Pkmn, and when she finds out that her favorite character she can relate to is the strongest person in the region she can't help herself but smile and laugh as she's fighting her feeling so proud and happy. She definitely had a rough start in the beginning trust me I wasn't a fan of her getting dipped on and always compared to how she was back in the black and white anime but seeing her progress now especially in Journeys was just so all inspiring she may not have won but now she's not only a champion but she's one of the strongest trainers in the world and that makes me so proud of her beyond words. That's my girl, and always will be.🥰💜🐲
I think Iris’s Haxorous was great and I just wish Axew and Scraggy got to say Goodbye onScreen at the End of BW and i wants them to reunite so Scraggy can see it’s Brother has Evolved and it is Interesting How Axew had Evolved but Scraggy didn’t evolve into Scrafty it would put them on Equal Therms of Power and do either Cynthia’s Garchomp or Ash’s Gengar since Halloween is coming up.

I think it's safe to say Haxorus is more preferable over Axew, given the fact that fans were mad at Axew for getting lost in the middle of the Unova League, being constantly babied and failing to become at least a Fraxure in the BW series.
Kinda annoying that we never truly saw how strong Haxarus was in the anime. It would have been nice to see axew atleast evolve in the middle stage during black and white. Still, without him, Iris would have never been a champion
Hard to say what exactly happened seeing how not much time passed but Ash also got a fully evolved team. I'm thinking Axew evolved in Hoenn (sky pillar evolution from a dangerous situation maybe) and then filled in as the gym ace after they came back to fully evolve. Not wanting to be in the pokeball was overwritten with evolution as well. Being too large for Iris to carry, he may have felt like a burden and just decided to go in the pokeball. At the same time Haxorus just seems like a different character.

While I do miss the adorable and clumsy Axew, it was so satisfying to see Iris as a full fledged champion and Axew being evolved into a Haxorus that fought on par with Cynthia's Garchomp. While it would be a stretch to see Iris and Haxorus beat Cynthia due to them being so young and inexperienced, the battled definitely proved that they've earned their titles as champions. Also, we need more scenes with Ash and Iris, the only other companion of Ash's that is ALSO a champion.
I think axew should’ve evolved at their first battle against Cynthia, just after Iris cones up with the strategy to eliminate the confusion from Outrage.

I tolerated B&W for Oshawott and Axew. I adore Axew. I love his sweet personality, and I wish he kept at least some of it when he evolved. I'm fine with him being a badass powerhouse Haxorus. His wish came true, but at the cost of his personality. I wish he was sweet off the battle field and a monster when he was summoned. I miss sweet little Axew.
It’s a shame Haxorus’ personality from when he was an Axew is gone. Went from being in every Unova episode to just being another bruiser. Still super glad he evolved though. A shame Scraggy is still the same.

Scraggy and Axew had the greatest duality dynamic that's why I'm kind of little bit upset Masters 8 didn't show him watching Haxorus battle Garchomp

I think axew should’ve evolved at their first battle against Cynthia, just after Iris cones up with the strategy to eliminate the confusion from Outrage.
Sry I am really late to this video because it did not appear in my recommended list but I hope after sword and shield they would create a mini series where it shows every champions ace Pokémon and how they were trained to become this strong

I tolerated B&W for Oshawott and Axew. I adore Axew. I love his sweet personality, and I wish he kept at least some of it when he evolved. I'm fine with him being a badass powerhouse Haxorus. His wish came true, but at the cost of his personality. I wish he was sweet off the battle field and a monster when he was summoned. I miss sweet little Axew.

It’s a shame Haxorus’ personality from when he was an Axew is gone. Went from being in every Unova episode to just being another bruiser. Still super glad he evolved though. A shame Scraggy is still the same.
