Thanks big guy, this video saved my golf swing. I got a bit lost with my sequencing and the tip about feeling the pressure in my lead foot fixed everything. Now I'm striking it solid with power again. I guess i used to know this but i forgot it along the way.

Chris, another great video. I'm working on the sequence, but it's not easy. I find that starting with short pitches has helped. Also, I'm glad you called it torso rotation instead of shoulder rotation. If you stand still, facing front, and try to just rotate your shoulders, not much happens. If you try to rotate your entire upper body, you can rotate a total of about 180 degrees, although the legs naturally move a bit to compensate. Thinking "torso" allows for isolating that part (the major part) of the rotation in the swing.

Excellent Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (do a search on google)? It is a smashing one off product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work colleague after a lifetime of fighting got amazing success with it.

This is exactly where I am in learning golf right now. I signed up for lessons this winter and I'm doing well but I don't drive the ball very far, so my golf teacher corrected my grip then he adjusted my stance and suddenly I was driving the ball 235-245 (which I would be THRILLED with) but he said that I was still using my arms too much and didn't have enough lower body rotation. I've been working so hard on drills in my home gym, trying to learn the motion without having a club in my hands. It's almost like learning a dance step for someone who doesn't dance! lol. But I'm enjoying the process and I'm excited to take that next step! This video is a nice, simple view of it and has renewed my enthusiasm! Cheers from Canada :)

really like the idea of starting the downswing with 1. pressure on the lead foot combined with slight sitting posture ( which provides that second of hesitation at the top) 2. followed by a slight lead hip bump combined with a vertical drop of the shaft. have been working on the bowed lead wrist for some time with great success.
yours is clearly one of best instructional sites out there.

Although good players look like they're swinging in one piece, they're really just properly sequencing. Great instruction.

Agree with Tom Potter...yet another great video/lesson. This is an issue for me, because I make pretty good swings, and then out of nowhere I'll pull the driver way left--sometimes I save that shot with an early release and open clubface--leading to a weak fade. Typical....great to know the better sequence and will work on it.

Chris- great video -interested in you indicating push with the lead leg as it is the one that has the least weight on it at the top of the backswing. Many indicate pushing off with the trail leg. Appreciate your view as to what push if any and when, should be done with the trail leg?

Another good instruction for me to try, thanks Chris,On the subjects, maintaining a good path with the driver would be great, but I guess sequencing should help this.?

I really like this video. You did not mention the Hips in the sequence. Yet don't then need to shift and rotate the hips ahead of the torso? I am comparing this video to the one about completing the swing with the belt buckle aimed toward the target.

Can the sequence start with the knees (squatting i.e going down) followed by the opening of the hips, the opening of the chest, followed by arm movement and release of club ????

Great tip, Chris. I have been feeling a "pause" at the top lately and have been making great contact. Is that actually a part of good sequencing and letting the legs begin the downswing? Thank you.

I wouldn't think that feeling would harm at all, as you say can help with timing and contact.

HI Chris can you advise me on golf shaft I'm a 8 handicap and play with Titleist CB regular irons I hit the ball 150 with a 9 iron and hit the ball very high was wondering if stiffer shaft would help
Hope you can help thanks stuart

    • @delmaryennie2061
      @delmaryennie2061 7 лет назад

I found if the shaft is too lite and the trouq was too lite also then you start hitting a lot of slices or fades with the irons. I fought this with a driver for 2 years, thinking it was something I was doing wrong and tried a friends driver and what a difference, I hit it straight. So I can't see anything wrong with your clubs.

In my downswing i try and feel like i start my lower and upper body together at the same time. I tend to pull or slice iron and drivers so i was wondering if my sequence is the reason of why i would be coming over the top?

    • @goravens18

Saw a video short the other day that stated pressure at 11 o’clock. Ben Hogans book recommended lead foot Flared out for irons as well. So that pressure at 11 seems to make sense for all clubs if I’m understanding correctly
