Thanks for the walk around it reminded me of good times. 'Lister D' I know they are common but don't knock them as they are a good engine to get the young interested in engineering and hopefully the future custodians of our joy's. The seed drill engine is off a 50cc Puch Maxi moped with three speed gearbox. You are a very lucky chap to have Mrs Man cave support your hobby, what a lovely gesture. Happy for you both.
Yep lister D s are a perfect way to start your engine hobby , always work in time ,parts a plenty , plus you can find out the history of your D , great interesting auction , wish I was there !
Your enthusiasm, enjoyment, and depth of knowledge when you were viewing the auction lots made this video very enjoyable for me. Your cunning wife is truly a one off - you are indeed a lucky man.
Not everyone can afford the fancy open crank engine's so a Lister D is perfect for a start, besides not everyone has the room or ability to move big engines about.
There a are a good few young chaps on YT starting out or following in their Dads footsteps and the Lister D is a cracking engine to learn on, we should all do what we can to encourage shed engineering. Lister D made a massive contribution to the War effort, our Grandads could remember threshing grain, milking cows, cutting beats, and keeping the lights on with a D. I have two, one on alternators the other Petrol/mix running unsuccessfully at the moment a heat pump. Engine good my refrigeration skill less so.
😂 I was going to ask what's wrong with lister D's 🤣. I have never owned a stationary engine just watch this channel with interest, your enthusiasm is infectious, one day I'll get a engine or two..
That was one cheep Amanco! Nice reasonably early one. Looks like the only new bit is the petrol tank. A friend of mine had a late one, kind easy to start as can use the inlet valve as a decompresser. Used to make me laugh, he would complain if it used more than a pint of petrol for the day. both the Ruston APR and the AP were lovely. My late grandad had a APR like the one your now restoring, he always regretted selling it. I had a AP same spec as the one in the sale. Was lovely engine, but I didn't learn from my grandads advice, and when money was short one winter sold it and have always regretted it, but I have too many projects again. That pumpset was the star of the stationary engine section.
Hi Adam, That was a great video what a collection of engines I fancied some of them myself , But as you said what a wife you have I know how you feel I have just had our 50th anniversary been together for 56 years married 50 when you have a good one you look after them so Adam all the very best to you and mrs man cave and the engines, Take care of yourself and stay safe.🛠️🛠️⭐️⭐️👍👍
When you got home and sat in the van and you said "What have we got?" I saw that curved sirface with ribs through the window, I thought you'd bought a bloody traction engine! 😂
I'm hoping to get to the Cheffins vintage auction at Harrogate in August. I haven't been able to go for a few years, but as one of their smaller sales, it's one that I used to be able to plod around until my arthritis said otherwise. Just looking at those sad looking tractors, it's hard to imagine that I used to drive machines like that, brand new, in my younger years. It's sad, but it makes you feel old. And then all those engines, I remember you could buy for scrap value - If you'd paid more than about fifty to a hundred quid, you'd been robbed. Oh how values have changed over the years!
Happy Belated Birthday ! I had a Birthday on March 13th. I turned 57 years Young! Your Wife got you an awesome gift ! Can't wait to see her run in a future vidio ! I would love to get a Hit& Miss but Don't know where to try to purchase one at . I live in Pittsburgh Pa. And have no clue where to even look at one lol . Anyway enjoy your Great Gift ! Keep up the Awesome Channel God Bless 🙏 Uou & Mrs.Mabcave Always 🙏
you have done well yet again. Don't under estimate those Chinese mini diggers, well not the multi cylinder diesels. They do wonders to save your back and can be quite versatile for lifting motors and parts around when not being used to move dirt. Not as powerful or weight rated as a fork lift, but very flexilbe and manouverable in tight spaces.
Came away with the vertical stover Took about 40mins to get it going as I couldn't get a spark through the old wiring must have got abit of damp in it so I rewired it and fired straight up
Adam, I’m sure you have some deep seated reasons for your dismay towards Lister D’s so you need to do a video about them and show us the ones in your collection.

Trust me if you’re going to dip your toe in to stationary engines buy a Lister it won’t disappoint.

Happy 50th birthday, what a great present. Maybe do a crank up ticketed soirée to cover the costs, any extra to charity👍
Was a good sale
Enjoyed it
Thanks for the tour of this auction. Truly my favorite auction video of yours so far. Gotta give that Indian sign a wipe with your dirtiest dirty rag!

Sweet your lady loves you to be sure.
They started selling the first lot at 9am and sold the final tractor at 6.25pm. They had 4 auctions running at the same time. From 10am
you have done well yet again.

Happy Belated Birthday.....I don't suppose you remember how much the Wrigley Autotruck went for?.
That was fun!
You really need your own TV programme
I am tired of that wind too but thats normal for Wind River area in Wyoming
buy a small skid steer you can use different attachments. (I learned that from Diesel Creek).
A nice big yellow dump truck for Adam 😀
Came away with the vertical stover

Adams huge front end loader HUGE
Your in stationery engine heaven Adam
Lister D’s are a cracking engine, 250,000 of them made so far from a rare engine but better than any Honda or air cooled diesel.
yep I like Diesel creek too
the little dumper looks very much like a Thwaites Sprite 15cwt. capacity. I've got one. (Not rear wheel drive)
lets go for a long video like that LOL!
Nice 👍
What was the black case on shoulder strap use for by the auctioneer ?
Why so much hate for the lister d ? Stationary engine snobbery ??
give misses man cave a big kiss
Evening mr man cave can I ask which engine you’d recommend to drive a saw bench pulley , great channel aha

spin the arrow game
how bout putting miss man Cafe on wene you start the moter mote
Tractor Cancer
Why do auctioneers have to talk like that?
At least you can sort of understand him unlike the American ones
@@plasma453 I've never seen an American auction!! Will have to do some digging for the 'experience' 😃
The American one's are at least 10 times harder to understand
