    Well it looks like Royal Enfield have pulled another rabbit out of the hat with this, it’s going to be a winner and I can definitely see you being very tempted as you were having a hoot on it, you seemed to be very comfortable with it really quickly, throwing it about in amongst the traffic, I do like the looks, especially in that colour, Go on you know you want one 😂 All the best buddy 👍

    Ian, your enthusiasm for this bike just makes me want to go out and buy one. It looks a cracking machine totally practical for the abysmal roads we have in this country. Problem I have is I’ve only just bought my current bike (Honda NC750x DCT) so I know I wouldn’t be allowed to have 2 bikes .. well not unless I came up with a cunning plan.. watch this space. Great ride and review in an area I know well.

      In the meantime, you could just go and have a play ……… or might that tempt you too much 🤔. I could feel just how much fun it will be when run in, so will be taking it out again for sure 👌

    Hi Ian. Usual honest opinion. I listened to the condescending rubbish spouted by a certain RUclipsr who thinks he's a big time Charlie regarding reviews based on first impressions. What you, the Bingley Wheeler, Mr. TAYM and others provide is an insight into bikes I might want to test ride. Keep up the good work.👍

    There is no doubt RE improve the ride experience with every new model and this Himmy seems to be a huge update on the 1st
    Gen. The one thing I am not sure about are the looks but not seen one in the flesh so that view may change. I really want to see what they do regards a Classic 650, now that would be a bike I would be interested in. A great video Ian.

      Thanks Alex. As I said in the video, the Himi 450 is almost as ugly as the original 😂 Personally, I think the Classic will be a mixture of Classic 350 and Shotgun. Similar forks and nacelle, spoked rims, chrome exhaust (like shotgun). Will be a great seller whatever they do 👍

    I went to Royal Einfield in Belgrade (Serbia) and for me is a good bike, great suspension and nice engine, but a heavy bike for a 450....So I took the chinese Kove 510x, take a look 😉✌️.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hi, thanks for the comment. The Kove has a generic look about it, very similar to the Benelli 502 and 702. I am not keen on all the plastic at the front. I took a Benelli 702 out (see older vid), and although excellent value, it just isn’t for me. Also, at 205kg, the Kove is heavier than the Himi 450. There is a lot of choice out there at the moment, and others are talking about the CFmoto MT450 (175kg, but I think that is a dry weight) as a contender against the Himi.

    Congratulations Ian as I believe this is the first UK review on the very long awaited revised Himalayan,as usual an excellent road test with no punches pulled. Sadly for me I received back my deposit payed last February due to the long delays & delivery set backs as my local RE dealer didn’t really know when the ordered stock would arrive. In the end I went to plan ‘B’ buying a New old stock Honda CB500X that was heavily discounted to move them out of the showrooms making space for its replacement the NX500. I’m happy with the Honda so far & can agree 100% with your findings in the recent review you did. Thanks Ian.

    • @jonathanmellish4439
      @jonathanmellish4439 7 месяцев назад +1

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi John, unfortunately a couple of other RUclipsrs beat me to it, but I was first with the Shotgun so can’t always have my own way 😂. Also, unfortunately, you are not alone. A few others have done the same, and gone for the CB500X or paid the extra for the NX500. It’s such a shame about the delays, you would have thought they would’ve learnt by BSA’s mistake, obviously not. Even now, dealers aren’t 100% sure when customers will get their bikes. Enjoy the CB500X, it is a great bike, and as you say, bargains to be had. Cheers

      😂. I really was tempted to, but it was just a tad too tall, even with the seat in it’s lowest setting. I find myself on roads whereby the camber is all over the place, so not being able to easily flat foot, really was the deciding factor. Also the price was just that bit too much for me, hence buying the Guerrilla 😎

      It certainly still retains the “purposeful” looks Craig. I can’t say I agree with you about the rear lights though. That said, when the space is there for a normal rear light, it would have been less controversial to just fit one. It is good that RE are trying new things, but I don’t think the rear lights are a hit with everyone. Incidentally, I took it out again yesterday, riding on the motorway,and at faster speeds on other roads to check for the so called vibrations………video should hopefully be out Sunday evening 😉. Cheers

It may be a bit heavy to ride sporting trials but I'm sure it could handle the terrain.

    Hi Ian, I took one out on Saturday for a test ride , what a cracking bike! I loved it and didn't want to take it back to the shop either ! 😅 I took it over the tops towards Bakewell from Sheffield, it handles beautifully , so neutral the feeling of how it just glides through the curves.
    And as you say it wants to get moving around 4k revs, but I didn't go above that as it had only done 200 miles,

    i enjoyed watching your review. As you say it is important to get an impression of what the bike is like in the UK. I would have liked to have seen how the bike goes in different riding modes and hear what your impressions are.
    I put a deposit on one back in November, subject to a test ride. I was hoping to have the new bike by the beginning of March. Time passed, I became aware of the Honda NX500 and ended up buying one a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that I am very pleased with it. It has a 471cc twin cylinder engine, no fly by wire and that is a + factor for me. Needless to say, I am very pleased. Nevertheless I am looking forward to trying a Himalayan 452 when they become available at my local dealership.

    Well, that was a nice review, Ian; the Himalayan 450's certainly got your juices flowing! 😉The seat adjustment you mentioned varies the height from 825 to 845 mm, though there is a low seat option of 805 mm. The bike's not released yet here in Oz (TBA), but the advance order price is from $8,990 ride away, which is a bargain. Unfortunately, I'm in the same financial boat as you... Good evening Ian, so you plainly enjoyed your experience on the 452? As did I, and if I didn't have Blizzard, I'd go for one straight away but as things are, I just can't justify it, so I just refuse to let myself get too excited.
    Regarding the bars, I did find them lower than those on the 411, until I remembered that at 6' 3" I found it useful to fit bar risers, so I'm fairly certain I'd fit risers to the 452. You're dead right about that little screen, it's obviously been designed to slice through the air and it works very well.
    It is indeed a marvellous bike and I can see that at some point in the not too distant future, there'll be one in the man-cave. (but don't tell Blizzard!)

      I honestly haven’t a clue about tuning the 450, but usually by allowing the gases to run more freely, does give slight hp gains. 5-8hp sounds a lot for just a decat and exhaust can though. Maybe a free flow air filter, and power commander/Fuel X to richen the fuel air mixture would give more gains. I would be sceptical until someone produces dyno charts, detailing exactly what work has been carried out.

      I think you are wrong…..valve check at 6000 miles then 12000 miles then every 12000 miles after that. After the initial 311 mile first service, the next oil change is at 6000 miles, or annually like any other modern motorcycle. That’s what I found on good old google😉

    Like a lot of people looking at this bike I'm a "mature" rider who wants a relatively light and comfortable travel bike for one person plus luggage. This and the cf moto 450MT when it arrives are currently top of the shortlist. Not bothered about off road but the capability to do a bit as & when is well worth having...

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 месяцев назад

      Just like me then. I am nearly 62, still like to get a wriggle on down the lanes, which this provides. The CFmoto looks a good proposition, but I think it is quite a tall bike. I was really keen to get this Himi out on the lanes, as there are loads of vids of it off road. As you can probably tell, I was impressed. Cheers

    Great review but such a shame it managed to completely rule it out for me. The deal breaker is this stupid new idea of doing away with a back light. I would never buy a bike without a proper tail light.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 месяцев назад +1

      You are not the only person concerned about this new design. I do get it, though it would be interesting to be behind it in a car or on a bike, just to see how visible they are. It’s a cracking bike though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a standard type rear light / indicator arrangement become available as an accessory at some point. Thanks for the comment.

    • @Grumpy-Goblin
      @Grumpy-Goblin 7 месяцев назад

      @@ianhughesroyalenfield You only have to follow a modern car with an led cluster doing brake light, indicator and tail light to see that when the brake lights are on then the indicator virtually disappears. That is dangerous enough in a car let alone on a bike where we need all the visibility we can get.

    "It's taking me down lanes I haven't been in years" hmm, right , next you'll be saying you will have to take home to
    clean it, for a few weeks. The angle of the side stand looks a bit iffy on uneven ground, may need a remedy to suit
    the task. Your roads are a bit dodgy mate, down here in the land of Oz , we call em, Goat tracks. Love is a many splendid
    thing, that's if you can afford it, Clementine is going to have to give you a jolly thrashing. Cheers.

      😂 John……I could try that tack with Roger, but I don’t think he will buy into it 😂. Goat tracks are a good description of our roads 🫣. The bike does lean over a fair bit on the side stand, but has a good foot on it. Clementine isn’t in any danger, she fits into the van easily, the Himi would be another story.

      If you have a look on RUclips, it is full of reviews on the rough stuff, but very few on lanes that I would be riding on, as can be seen in this video. This review, was as much for my benefit as anyone else's, as I am looking for something like this, and I don't do green lanes. I wouldn't have taken it off road, as it is a brand new bike, which doesn't belong to me.
