- Welcome back to the Let's Go Digging Sudbury Weekender - Day 2! This time Simon and I are heading to new fields with loads more history to be found. I'm using both the Manticore & XP Deus II and find some very CURIOUS items!
The Deus II was running on 0.71 on the Relic programme (9) with the DISC IAR set at 5, Notched 00-00, Reactivity between 1.5 and 2.
The Manticore was on Version 1.0 and running the Freestyle Programme - see previous Manticore vids for details.

Button day :D I like the little knight figure! Great weekend you had!
20:07 that is absolutely stunning Marcus!! Love stuff like this very jealous!😂 great video as always bud
Thanks Mark mate, must admit I am so happy with it! Proper history, since confirmed as a pipe tamper & reasonably old too! Hope all is well mate & thanks as always
Brilliant, as always. Thank you my friend.
Thanks Doug! Hope you’re holding up ok my friend! Thinking of you often & sending positive vibes!!
The knight is a brilliant find, Marcus! I think you're spot-on about it being a pipe tamper. The swan is lovely, I'll bet it was part of a brooch. Can't you see a fancy lady, sporting that? Your lead item is interesting, although I haven't a clue as to its usage. Congrats to Simon on his lovely fob seal!❤
Thank you lovely Cynthia! It was a great weekend and we were both lucky with our finds. Yes, I am definitely feeling it is more brooch than buckle piece - just too nice & dainty to be rom a buckle in my opinion. Thanks as always for watching - hope you are well x
Great finds Marcus love the bronze knight great roundup again well done mate cheers 🍻🍻👍👊🎧👊
Cheers David mate! The knight turned out to be a pipe tamper, so am very pleased with the fella! Have a great weekend my friend
another good day Marcus some lovely artifacts and buttons great hunt thanks cheers
Cheers James, glad you enjoyed it my friend. It was definitely a button fest, that's for sure! Have a top weekend mate
lots more finds again .. 👍
love the Zoomorphic object .. 😎
enjoy Detectival, going to be hot .. ☀️
Thanks John, think Detectival could be a little too hot in all honesty, but good fun I hope. Thanks as always for watching mate, stay well
Brilliant film that, you’ve had a good one at that weekender Marcus. Love all the finds and really interesting mystery items, the knight figurine and that really old looking saxony type partefact very interesting. Well done pal and all the best 👍🏻
Now then Jimbo, thanks as always for stopping by pal - always appreciated & never taken for granted! There were plenty of mysterious bits mate, but all part of the fun of the hobby I reckon. The knight turned out to be a post-medieval pipe tamper....got some age to it too! Really pleased with that. The swans head thingy still a bit of a mystery, but the general consensus is buckle or brooch fragment. Hope all is weill bud, and thanks again!
love the soldier, those fields were loaded, looked like an brilliant time. see ya on the next one. 👍
Thanks again Keith - those fields are incredible. Completely un-detected & full of amazing history. I think it is nearly 20 pieces of gold come off there now, and they are now ploughing the fields again! Sadly I will miss the next weekender there but am expecting more good things! Hope all is well mate
Superb part 2 episode Marcus! What lovely conditions for a day of detecting. Lovely finds, well done 👏🏻
See you soon but if I don’t, best of luck at RCM and detectival 🤞🏻🤞🏻🍻🍻
Cheers Spencer mate! Hope fully see you this weekend pal
Hey Marcus great to see you this weekend mate. Next time though we really need to metal detect together. I spent lots of today watching youtube and football, great way to spend a day!! You are the master of partefacts, the bronze knight was awesome, shame about the snapped sword (sounds painful)
Couldn't agree more mate. I spotted you just as you, Ash & Ben made a dash for it so couldn't get to you in time. Never mind mate - great to see you again and so nice to catch up over a few beers on the Friday night x
Great looking land that, well done great video pal. Hope you have a couple of good weekends.
Thanks Andy! Was a nice day & a half with some good company & finds. Thanks as always for watching mate, glad you got the double header by catching up 😂
how gutting for Simon that the seal stone was missing. Still a great fond though.
nice load of goodies for you Marcus. Nice little bronze figure too 👍. see you next weekend mate 😃👍
Thanks mate - Simon definitely had the luck that weekend, although a slice of the bad variety with the fob seal - was truly gutted for him! Was a cracking couple of days. Can't wait to see you on Friday pal
Nice lot of finds Marcus the knight is brilliant smashing video hope you had a good time at RCM weekend 😊
Thanks Lesley, hope the legs are returning to normal now! Must admit, I love the knight, turns out to be a pipe tamper & quite old so I am very happy with it. RCM was good fun but could only go for the Saturday so was a long way for one day, and had to duck out early. One very special find though! Have a great week x
@@Notchedto11 thanks and yes all ok that was a long way to go for one day but worth it 😀
Nice one Marcus see you at the weekend with Rick & Mike 👍🏻
Looking forward to it mate
Good hunt Marcus. Certainly was a button day. Your mystery finds are very tantalizing. Glad that you had a great time. Giving you a thought at this time of year as it was when we met at Detectorvil last year. Viv is a bit mopey that we aren’t over there now. Hope you have a great time at the festivals. Take care mate 🦘🦘😁👍
I was thinking exactly the same just this morning Andrew. I’m leaving for the Rodney Cook later today, then Detectival next weekend. Wish you were both here my friends! Would’ve been great to toast a beer with you!! Watch out for the Detectival videos….you WILL feature x
Strongly believe that zoomorphic figure is Saxxon looks like it in style. Pibe
Stopper? Earliest smoking in the 1600ish, can't get the Bronze material
To add up! Lovely Sealfob 😢 stone missing😢. Marcus nice to hear you
Are going to Detector ville. Sadly I
Have to work. The Scottish dectector
Will also be there.John, Marty, Pete and
Albert. Enjoy and Happy Digging😜🔝❤️
Shame we won't see you at Detectival Toni! Thanks as always for watching my friend, and thanks for your thoughts on the various mysteries!! Some curious ones indeed. Hope all is well mate and don't work too hard!
Nice finds like the mystery knight was a nice find
Thanks Randy, was very pleased with the knight, since been ID’d as a pipe tamper (which was my suspicion). Hope all is well, Marcus
some good finds and a great video
Thank you kind sir, much appreciated as always - it was a good second day! Have a great weekend, Marcus
Great vid mate cheers for the shoutout! Some lovely bits 😍 shame on Si’s fob seal. Great Saturday night had a proper laugh! Will see you at detectival and save me some stickers mate 👍
Hi mate - I posted on your latest video before reading this comment! Couldn't remember if you were at Detectival or not.....looking forward to seeing you pal. I'm camping in the glamping tents with Mike & Rick so make sure you come find us! That Saturday evening at Sudbury was hilarious! Good times mate
@@Notchedto11 no worries mate I’ll see you soon! 👍😍
Wow Marcus, that knight is amazing ! Do you think he was a knight that said "Ni" , or 'tis but a scratch, I'm invincible!" 😂 That swan thing also looks a bit like a seahorse, but it depends how you look at it I guess. Fantastic stuff 👍💪
Hahaha! Made me lol George! Yes, sea-horse sounds like a good shout too mate.....thanks as always for watching mate, hope you had a great weekend
Great video mate some lovely finds I reckon the bird head could be Saxon and I’m thinking some kind of brooch I had one similar not long ago will have to dig it out mate take care see you soon 👍👊
Awesome, thanks pal. You know when you find a piece and you just get a feeling it’s “something”….we shall see! Hope to see you soon bud
Fab hunt Marcus, and really love that Zoomorphic decorative piece - 'Spider senses' definitely tingling on that one matey. I'd say it's definitely 'fine/important' so wouldn't be at all surprised if it turns out to be Saxon/Viking/Roman. I think, with all these things, it's a case of looking at the artistic 'vibe' of it - both in broad terms, but also looking for detail and techniques. The Flos/Archaeologists prob. approach it that way - unless they've already seen one identical/very similar... Anyways, it's a classy find whatever mate, well done... Oh btw, had an excellent 'pull' (as our transatlantic friends are fond of saying) only yesterday with the D2 in Relic Mode, (so have you to thank, at least in part Marcus... 🙏). A scratchy/iffy 69/70 turned out to be an absol. TINY Commonwealth Hammered 1/2 Groat - at 8" down!! Unbeleivable, and Soooo chuffed with that Matey!! Anyways, take care fer now, and thanks as ever fer the videos, Bobby 🐭
Hey Bobby you legend!! Lovely to hear from you mate, and as always really enjoy reading your comments my friend. I definitely get what you say about the vibe / feel of things - I definitely got that feeling with that little fragment & am more convinced the more I look at it. That said, the consensus seems to suggest brooch or buckle fragment....but how old eh?! All good fun & one for the FLO next time I stop by. Wow, so pleased for your with the Commonwealth coin mate - still on my bucket-list that one, and at good depth too mate! Hope you have a great week mate, I'm busy looking forward to my favourite event of the year, Detectival, and meeting up with the gang! Take care bud, and a massive thank you as always - appreciated and never taken for granted!! All the best, M
love the relics Marcus... good thing you got rid of that Deux thing... get rid of it. Glad that it went to someone that use it...OUCH!!! Can you turn those relics in to the Colchester Museum for possible ID? I know that I bugged you to use the Deus, sorry about that. Forget that I ever mentioned it. BUT, I have a new thing that I miss... In your openings I miss " Welcome You lovely lot"... bring it back once in a while... remember, I'll be watching. Cherrio and keep up the good work.
You always make me smile with your comments Gene - be sure to watch the intro from this week's video my friend ;0) all good fun mate & always look forward to your comments! Have a good week
Nice one mate!
Cheers Paul! Hope you’re ok pal
All good here mate thanks. Has the RCM happened yet?
@MrPaulie1456 this weekend mate, I’m fact I’m just about to pack up the car. Pouring with rain here but it’s dues to brighten up!!
Have a great time mate, hope you have many great finds...gotta love this hobby!
The knight is very cool. But I think your swans head is part of an 18th century buckle I'm afraid.
Cheers Jamie - you may well be right my friend. Some mixed views but got to be either buckle or brooch fragment I suspect. Thanks as always for watching mate
if it weren't for the weird slit, I would call the "pistol-handle" a late early-medieval stirrup terminal (bottom ends)
slight possibillity that the "dress hook" is a broken stirrup strap mount from the same time
both look corroded enough to date to around the 11th cent and they also look like copper or at least very coppery = typical for the period
.....but being not sure and also not in the freshest of moods today.....searched too far into the night yesterday and didn't get much sleep.....
Thanks mate, much appreciate your thoughts. All very strange and head scratching! Hope you've caught up on your sleep now & thanks so much for watching! All the best, Marcus
😁🤘🍀💪😎
Top man Shane!!!!
I think that's a seahorse marcus
I think you're right Dave - the more I look at it, the more I am convinced!
19.35...... Looks more like a seahorse to me......
I definitely agree Dafydd. It still remains a mystery as to what it was for, but sits in my cabinet until one day all becomes clear. Thank you for watching & commenting - much appreciated. Marcus
