SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE PROJECT & G-RAID Mirror & PRO-CINEMA CF-Express Type B Cards (IBC 2023)

During IBC 2023 SanDisk Professional introduced several new products including two new CF-Express Type B memory cards and two new storage units from the G-Drive series - the G-DRIVE PROJECT and the G-RAID Mirror.
During IBC 2023 we talked to Ruben Dennenwaldt, Head of Product Marketing & Marketing Operations EU/CIS at Western Digital about the new products about the new product announcements from Sandisk at the show. Any word on noise levels for those drives?

Noise has more to do with the specific HHD used in these drives - in this case 7200RPM Ultrastar drives. From my experience most large capacity (14/16/20TB) recent drives are noisy and not something I would put on an editing table next to where I need to record or listen to critical work. Mind you this is not a criticism of this unit - it's just the current state of the technology - in a few years they might find a way to make them less audible or we will get affordable 20TB SSDs although I am still not sure if I would count on them for long term storage.
