Superb info and review Matt. Thank you. What I really like about your channel is you are ahead of everyone on this journey. As we spec up our cameras etc, the challenge becomes read-write speeds and storage. And boom, you have researched and provide a review and suggested solution. Thanks Matt.

this is one of the better reviews on this product! thanks m8
with the Pro G40 SSDs, do you see the reported 2200-2800mb r/w? i've grown to love these drives directly connected, if it limited these to 900-1000mb certainly makes it less attractive. thanks!

Was so sad when I finally got to Melbourne and the gallery was closed. Just means I will have to return sometime and visit the new one when it opens. I really loved our 4 days in Melbourne from a photography viewpoint ( as well as other things) and can see why you have taken such killer shots over the years. Certainly has more character than Brisbane when it comes to photography.

Pro hardware for Pro creators! This is a great idea and system, and maybe the price will come down the more they are used and purchased!

Thanks for this, as always. Remind me, you'll have no gallery space in the future? Cheers!

Sad thing - it’s not compatible with other NVME M2 cards.. example we cannot put Samsung/wd/ NVME’s.. i wish they kept it universal on top still the speed is limited to 2000mb/s.. where in NVME’s are capable of +3500 mb/s

You mean mb/s? But yeah thats disappointing that it doesnt take third party m.2 drives

It might be good to record the 8k video directly to, so you don't fill up memory cards too fast. Looks great.

It has lots of potential! Have a question for you on the PerGear CFexpress B card’s, how do you like them? Have you had any issues? As I see they have them on special with a discount.

Wish these would work in the Pro Dock 4. I just don’t have use for four card readers, but some additional storage and a place for the card readers would be ideal.

I’ve used the Sabrent Rocket Nano drives with my Ursa Mini cameras for several years now. They weigh 2oz and are less than 3” long, making them every easy to store and carry, and they have USB-C 3.2 instead of a proprietary connection. Occasionally I will need to revert to CFast to cover high res/high frame rate recording, but they cover at least 90% of my media needs. Highly recommended for direct to disk video recording. As for the Pro-Blade, the connector looks exposed to me. But most concerning, I cannot find any spec from Western Digital which establishes a sustained write speed (they just talk about “transfer” speeds which have no bearing on the ability of a drive to keep up with a high res camera, and how does it handle heat? I want to see these torture tested-12K RAW from the Ursa maybe-before I’m ready to drop the kind of money involved.

Wow. That case said: "USB 20", which I presume means USB 3.2 Gen 2 (2x2), which would theoretically deliver 20Gbits/sec. (2.5 GB/sec. , or (2.5x1024= 2560 MB/sec.) roughly? Please check. You got about an actual of1000MB/sec. with one stick from your laptop. That's too much overhead. Maybe there's something we have not considered like the specs of the whole enclosure or the number of channels used in the cable. Someone check my arithmetic please. Thanks, -Rob

My favorite had been an Epson P-5000 which had a 4 inch display and used when shooting weddings. But one day, Epson stopped selling them and no longer offered updates. I still use mine with older Nikon DSLRs (D3, D700, D800) but useless with newer cameras.

I had one of those things and loved it. It was great to transfer over files to free up memory cards for day-long or multi-day events. Back then, memory cards didn't have that much capacity and were still very expensive. Having something to offload your files was a life saver.

Speed is meh. At least compared to my samsung 980 in an orico enclosure. But, I do like the idea of the enclosure with 4 drives. I suspect the cost will prevent me from considering it (especially in cost/performance department unless they can bump it up). In the mean time I'll keep rolling my own. :)

over engineered, over priced, BS marketing product. m2ssd drive in a enclousre (mag)... with another enclosure (transport?), to be put into a blade dock (station)... all click into each other with a usb port or a propriatory mag connection... talk about SEVERAL points of failure.
