My Wish: Landon Donovan meets Brendan

Chemotherapy and leukemia could not keep Brendan from waking up at 5:30 a.m. during his hospital stay to watch the FIFA World Cup. The 7-year-old has one favorite soccer player and one special wish: to meet Landon Donovan. Learn about Brendan and the day he spent with his hero.

It's overpowering to see all this support for my little brother - just to update everybody, he is doing great and is having his 10th birthday party today! - Now to the heartless people who have something negative to say about this video or say that Make-A-Wish is a scam, you are obviously very misinformed and have never seen a child fight a disease like cancer. I saw Brendan go through hell and fight for his life harder than many adults would. What Make-A-Wish does for these kids is beyond amazing!

Tell your little brother he's amazing and I wish him nothing but the best! My mom had cancer and passed away a few years ago, but me and her watched every USA World Cup game that summer similar like you guys did :). Best wishes !

Not ashamed to say I cried. I know if that was me at that age it would have been my everything and the thought of my little cousin going through that tears me to pieces.

The Boy deserved it :) These things keep us smiling. He has the same wish. Meet or see Landon. I am not sick but the wish is the same. Landon is my favourite soccer player and idol since 2002 when i was a 10 year old kid. He played against my nation (Germany) I loved the style he plays soccer this world cup and he had some special.But 2010 was much better;) one word: ALGERIA.I will never see him play live because i live in Germany but when the dream comes true for others, i'm happy :)

wow, Landon has heart that's for sure. He is one of the reasons football/soccer is more than just a game.It's full of compassion, inspiration, and determination. It's the beautiful game.

2. Wishes are powerful. They have a wide scope of impact. Wish kids say the wish experience gave them newfound strength to fight their illness. Parents say the wish experience brought their stressed families back together. Health professionals say wishes help kids feel better and sometimes help them get better.

Awesome video. Amazing, upbeat future star in Brendan. What things he'll accomplish! Kudo's to Landon for making him feel special by spending one on one time and going out of his way to hug him at special moments. And even though I'm not a huge Beckham fan - I was also impressed by him personally going over to the bleachers to talk with him and his family. You can tell Beckham is a family man.
Not a soccer fan by any stretch, but Donovan made a fan out of me today. Class act. He went out of his way to make Brendan feel like a teammate and a friend more than a cancer patient/charity case and that's really what it's all about, making these kids forget their troubles for just 1 day out of an entire year and he brought Brendan into the inner circle of the L.A. Galaxy and made him a part of the game. Great guy. Sports need more people like Donovan.

Wow. I love these videos, but this one actually made me cry. I even watched it three times!! I think what touched me most was the fact that Donovan gave the little boy his game jersey, made it a point to hug him three times, and THANKS the sweet child for everything! I don't follow sports, but I'm certainly a fan of Donovan's now!

1. Each child is offered the chance to request their one true wish. In most cases, these wish requests are made to our wish granters away from the parents or guardians.
Please know that a parent is often excited because the wish is the first time in a long time that their child has been empowered to make a decision and have fun. Too often, a child's days are occupied with doctor appointments and treatments.
